Greatest '80s Albums

The Contenders: Page 3XW

41Holy Diver - Dio
42Bad - Michael Jackson

The phenomenon that ruled the 80s had only two releases in this decade. One changed the world forever and the follow-up to that was even better than first! BAD is Michael's most consistent album with every song being an equal winner. Sadly it couldn't out-perform its predecessor "thriller" due to various non-musical factors.

Thriller is overrated. This album set a new standard for Michael. He even wrote a large portion of the songs himself and produced almost all the tracks. This was truly the beginning of the best!

Even though Thriller was his best-selling album, Bad has and always will be my favorite, he definitely grew as an artist.

43Hounds of Love - Kate Bush

This is a masterpiece which has stood the test of time. Running up that hill one of the most haunting passionate beautiful songs of all time my 2nd favourite cloud busting so emotional she was barely 25 when this came out but Kate showed such wisdom and maturity in this Magnus opus

Why is the number 1 80s album so low down the list, its criminal.

44Pyromania - Def Leppard

This really should be higher than it is. Other than it's follow-up Hysteria, there really isn't a better '80's rock album.

45Last of the Runaways - Giant
46Powerslave - Iron Maiden

The essential 80s metal album. This should be in top 10.

47The Nightfly - Donald Fagin

Masterpiece! About close to perfect and an album one can actually listen all the way straight through. Why would one skip anything of such pleasure.

What atmosphere and so tasteful. Excellent to be sure.

Very classy and polished album. It's all good!

48Diamond Life - Sade
49Perfect Strangers - Deep Purple

The best hard rock album in 80's

50Remain In Light - Talking Heads
51Synchronicity - The Police
52A Kind of Magic - Queen

The tour for the album was the greatest. The Magic tour. Wembley 86 was the best concert ever given other than Queen at Live Aid.

this is such a great album - 2nd best after night at the opera - idolangelx13

An album that helped define a decade

53Private Dancer - Tina Turner

There's not a bad song on the whole album.

54Screaming for Vengeance - Judas Priest
55Straight Outta Compton - N.W.A
56Bleach - Nirvana
57Kick - INXS

Guns In The Sky, Need You Tonight, Devil Inside, New Sensation, Mediate, the amazing cover of 'The Loved One', Mystify, Kick, Calling All Nations... The list goes on but the number of amazing songs goes on. And 'Never Tear Us Apart'... (though not so popular) is one of the best love songs and even one of the best songs ever... Come on people, 90% of the albums higher than this are 'albums that were made in the 80s', but this is an '80s album', if you know what I mean...

Maybe not better, but far more influential for pop music than 'Thriller'

If Michael Hutchence is not in the top 10 of any list regarding 80s music, the list is crap!

Remember the days when you could buy an album and there wasn't a single bad song on it? Kick is a classic and always will be. Definitely better than 57. Totally 80's and totally Kick ass!

58Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Iron Maiden

Great concept album. Filled with themes about prophecy and magic. It's also very accessible, should be much higher. B.B

59Gaucho - Steely Dan
60The Final Cut - Pink Floyd
