41 Motley Crue Motley Crue Mötley Crüe was an American metal band formed in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 1981. The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, lead vocalist Vince Neil and lead guitarist Mick Mars.

The crowd is always with em and Tommy Lee is a show beast and even James the rev sullivan said it was one of the best live shows he has ever seen.

Guns N' Roses favorite band but as far as live performances go can't believe motley isn't higher

Saw Mötley Crüe live last night. They were great. They had great sound quality and everything

Simply the best performance I've ever seen
They played even better than the album version
The sfx was great
The lighting and such were overwhelming
And they get along with the crowd well
Well, I almost lost words to describe their performance
If you don't believe me just check it out for yourself

The Prince of Darkness should be WAY HIGHER (On the list not drugs)

From bitimg bats heads off to mooning the crowd to playing ozzfest with a broken leg while detoxing. Ozzy would do anything for his fans and has also been around longer than anyone on this list evan led zepplin and queen and he's still going 1967-. Did anyone else do that? Plus hg can actually sing

44 Porcupine Tree Porcupine Tree Porcupine Tree were an English rock band formed by musician Steven Wilson in 1987. The band began essentially as a solo project for Wilson, who created all of the band's music.

Amazing band! Rob Halford all the way!

48 Nirvana Nirvana Nirvana was an American grunge band that was formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana disbanded after Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994. The drummer of the band, David Grohl, went on to start the Foo-Fighters, an alternative rock band. more.

kurt cobains voice sounds so much better live than in the studio I'd suggest it to anyone getting their unplugged album

Some nights they sucked. Other nights they were amazing. All depends what kind of mood cobain was in.

Watch their performance at the reading festival. It's absolutely beautiful

49 Tool Tool Tool is an American progressive metal/alternative metal band, that was formed in 1990. more.

Great live, album quality performance, enhanced versions of songs, progressively better lights/lasers as show goes on.

Simply the greatest band ever. Best live performances... Will literally take you away. Tool is life.

Seeing "Stinkfist" live will send you into a seizure. - IaChoquette311

How is this not higher? Best live show ever!

52 Dave Matthews Band Dave Matthews Band Dave Matthews Band is an American rock band that was formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1991. The founding members were singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer/backing vocalist Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore.

They are clearly the best band ever live. No other band can release live albums that sell millions then put them on a studio recording and sell more. The question is why are people so jealous of Dave Matthews popularity because he is for white males only. I forgot the band is mostly black, and he deserves the credit for driving his poetic message. 80 is a joke and he deserves better.

Not many bands can successfully deliver a different show every time. The Dave Matthews Band has successfully done this since their first show and continue to do it every time.

Dave Matthews Band is simply the best band ever to see live

53 Grateful Dead Grateful Dead

This isn't even a question. Everyone knows this whether your a dead head or not. They were the best live band ever and didn't even qualify as concerts. These were life changing "events" each and every one of the 2300+ shows. They have performed for more people than any other band EVER.. not even close.

There's just no comparison. When thet were on it's a whole other level of music. None of the bands discussed here could ever do what they did.

Let's clarify something. I'm a music lover and listen to everything from Glenn Miller to Venom... there is and never will be another band like the dead. I've seen most of the bands on this list and it should be separate. Incredible concerts for sure, but the dead we're hands down life changing, earth moon and sky changing events. On drugs and off didn't matter. Ask anyone who has ever seen them and they will tell you the same and they're are tens of millions+
Yes, would step and AC/DC maiden the stones queen Metallica all be here? Of course and mind blowing but still NOT a Dead show. It's it's own category all together

54 System Of A Down System Of A Down System of a Down formed in 1994 as an Armenian-American Nu Metal group from Glendale, California . The band name is sometimes shortened to System or SOAD. more.

Playing live in Holland has to be one of the best concerts ever! Daron's guitar stopped working, so he announced "This sucks and so do we," then got the crowd to boo them and give them the finger. And also, unlike some other bands, they actually played their songs well (when the guitar worked anyway) - Porcupine

Trust me they're the best at this. They can be so humorous on stage at times, like when Daron gets the crowd excited, Serj dances uniquely feeling the melody of the song, and they can actually perform unlike other bands.

55 Santana Santana Santana is an American Latin rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1967 by Mexican-American guitarist Carlos Santana.
56 Faith No More Faith No More Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. Before settling on their current moniker in 1983, the band performed under the names Sharp Young Men and later Faith No Man.
57 D'erlanger

they are 'more' better now. see their lives today, the songs rock and the japanese are like singing their national anthem - ronluna

58 Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam is a Grunge Rock Band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. The band had comprised of Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament. more.

They're not always the flashiest live performers, but in each one of their live shows, they put so much emotion in their songs and they end up sounding better than pretty much any other band live. A live performance isn't all visual, you know. - LoganR93

59 Bullet For My Valentine Bullet For My Valentine Bullet for My Valentine are a Welsh heavy metal band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. The band is composed of Matthew Tuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar, backing vocals), Michael Thomas (drums) and Jamie Mathias (bass guitar). Former members include Nick Crandle and Jason James; more.
60 Radiohead Radiohead Radiohead are an English rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, formed in 1985. The band consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Colin Greenwoood (bass guitar), Phil Selway (drums), and Ed O'Brien (guitar).

Watch their performances on songs like idioteque and paranoid android --- they are amazing -- as simple as that.
They are perhaps the band with best and most use of rare instruments typical of alternate music

If you don't think these guys are amazing, watch Karma Police live at Glastonbury 2003.
