Top Ten Bands That Should Be Popular, But Aren't

Just to get everything out if the way, this is NOT an "underrated bands" list. These aren't necessarily my favorite bands. These are bands that have elements of popular music in their sound that I think would do well in the mainstream. By "popular" I mean that these bands should be among the most well known current bands. Also, I'm ranking these bands based in how popular they should be, not how actually good they are.
The Top Ten
1 Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails is an American industrial rock band, founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio.

Nine Inch Nails' mainstream industrial sound should appeal to everyone. It has plenty of elements of rock, but it is also easy to dance to and really catchy. How this band isn't popular, I don't know.

I can't explain why but I feel really great when I hear their music and I relate to the lyrics and just go listen to them now. I recommend their songs 'Discipline' and 'Capital G'

I like them better underground. At least that's what the dude in the Imagine Dragons VS Nine Inch Nails post said.

THEY ARE AN AMAZING BAND WHOSE SONGS SPEAK TO ME, WHICH IS RARE! I STILL FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT AFTER FIVE ALBUMS, THEY STILL aren't AS POPULAR AS I WOULD EXPECT THEM TO BE...

Metal and metal bands are not allowed to become popular in the mainstream segment. Metal is the only music genre with a mission - it's like an opposition party forever. Metal should never be officially in power (mainstream) because it will start serving The Establishment and mass tastes.
Metal songs don't have to be radio-friendly, excessively catchy, schlocky or whatever else the mass taste would like. There's already enough of that in pop music.
Metal is underground and must stay there. If not, it's not real metal anymore - for example, bands like A7X, RATM, Disturbed, Slipknot, Korn, Three days grace, M. Manson, and all "metal" bands that get more than 10-20,000,000 views per song for no healthy metal reason.

Too progressive. I guess they could shorten the songs on the radio, and some people might like it, but I just don't see it topping the charts. Also, they only had one song that was even close to popular, and it wasn't even that big.

Actually, in the heavy metal world, they're pretty well known. Not on the outside world though. And Pull Me Under is overrated. Amazing band nonetheless.

After all this years, people still misinterpret metal. Some even said Metallica is satanic, makes me want to knock my head on the wall.

Manson joined these two names together because he wanted a name combined with good (Monroe) and evil (Manson). The other members of the band have their stage names combined with the first names of famous sex symbols and the last names of famous serial killers.
