Top 10 Best Albums of the 2000s

The Top Ten
1 Awake - Josh Groban

This is the most diverse and creative album Josh has produced so far. It's good to see how far he's come since he first began. His music is captivating.

This album is unique in its differing musical styles.

2 Kid A - Radiohead

Radiohead took a major risk with this album, completely changing from the styles of Pablo Honey, The Bends, and OK Computer, and diving into a pool of experimental music. The random mix of instruments, sounds, and vocals resulted in one of the greatest albums of the 2000s, if not of all time.

Josh Groban, really? Kid A was the most unique and creative album of the 2000s, with such memorable songs as Idioteque, Everything in Its Right Place, How to Disappear Completely, The National Anthem, and (my personal favorite) Motion Picture Soundtrack.

3 American Idiot - Green Day

What Sgt. Pepper was to the 1960s and The Wall was to the 1970s, American Idiot is to the 2000s. A wonderfully crafted set of songs with similar themes within a Rock Opera story. It's one of the few true works of art in music during the aughties.

One of the most infamous comebacks in music history was Green Day putting this album out. It deserves number 1.

Has one of the best songs of the 21st century on it - Jesus of Suburbia. And why is Heart on top of the list? Never heard of them!

4 In Rainbows - Radiohead

The best Radiohead album and probably the best album ever made. Why the hell is an awful Josh Groban album No. 1?

I could never get into Kid A. But this album is phenomenal. Absolutely perfect.

Best album of Radiohead, and Radiohead is the best band in the world, so...

5 The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem

Easily number one. Why is this so low? And why does that Michael Jackson album get so many votes on everything?

Out of these top 10, he's the only one that's still making good music or alive. This is what started it all.

6 Funeral - Arcade Fire

It's a disgrace that this is so far down on the list. Not only is it one of the best albums of the 2000s, but it's also one of the best albums of all time. I'm also surprised that This is It - The Strokes is so far down when it is one of the most enjoyable albums ever.

This is THE best album of the 00s. How come it's only at 20?

7 Hopes and Fears - Keane

Not only is it a great album, but Josh Groban? Come on! This makes Josh Groban look like something that belongs in a petting zoo.

An excellent sound. Beautiful. Passion and emotion burn behind the soft tones and ethereal vocals. Influences from Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, and others, but a unique sound all its own.

8 Meteora - Linkin Park

Oh, please. This is the best album of the 21st century. How come it's not in the number 1 spot? This album is equivalent to Hybrid Theory, Paranoid by Black Sabbath, Master of Puppets by Metallica, and Back in Black by AC/DC. So, it is automatically number 1. Period.

Easily the best album of all time. It has Numb, Faint, Somewhere I Belong, Breaking the Habit, From the Inside, and Lying From You. All six of those songs went on to be famous.

Best album of all time? More like best joke of all time. They are more overrated than Meek Mill and Iggy Azalea, man.

9 Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park

Haha, so many kids are out here voting for pop music. This is the best piece of music that could ever be made. Even Linkin Park can't create such a masterpiece again.

I admit I'm not a big Nu Metal fan, but you can't deny this album is amazing. Definitely deserves to be higher than #9.

With this album, I fell in love with music. It's still Linkin Park's best work. Can listen to this forever.

10 Is This It - The Strokes

This is one of the best albums of all time, let alone the 00's. And while I'm here, I might as well complain about there being no In Rainbows in the top ten. There, I'm done.

Really? Josh Groban at the top? THIS is the best album, bringing back some of old rock and roll's essence into the 21st century.

Not only their finest album, but one of THE finest albums recorded.

The Newcomers

? No Wasting Days - Come to Pay
? Big Ideas - The Churchills
The Contenders
11 Madvillainy - Madvillain
12 Invincible - Michael Jackson

This album is beautiful. Michael sang the songs with such depth and emotion. His portrayal of life in his songs is amazing. Speechless is on this album, and that song alone leaves me speechless. It's an awesome album, and I just can't get enough of it.

One of his worst albums in terms of sales, and yet it still managed to take the number one place during its release. If Michael Jackson at his worst is better than any artist at his or her best, then this surely beats all! You Rock My World.

I think Michael Jackson's Invincible album should be at number 3 at least. I really liked his Invincible album, and I enjoy drinking coke, for example, when I listen to some of my favorite albums. You can call me lame for all I care.

13 Stankonia - Outkast

This is a masterpiece. From beginning to end, it showcased the duo dealing with problems and having thoughts ahead of their time.

14 Confessions On a Dance Floor - Madonna

Madonna's greatest album in the 2000s. The Dance/Electronica sound was really impressive. The lead single "Hung Up" broke all records during that time and was number 1 in 45 countries. My personal favorite song here is "Sorry" - beautiful, deep, and very emotional.

It's sad but true: this is her last album. Everything after is commercial. But even this album is not really her, as American Life.

As much as I love her "Rebel Heart" album, I must say this: "Confessions On a Dance Floor" was her last "true" album!

15 Harem - Sarah Brightman
16 Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys

I prefer American Idiot as the best from the 2000s, but I should get my point across...

This album is ranked lower due to the songs being based around urban British life, which is not relatable for Americans. This album is much stronger than half the ones ranked above it. For one, it has cultural significance from Britain in the 2000s.

This album defines a whole generation and genre of music. Each song on this album is fantastic. It's all about the disheveled and messed-up life of being a working-class teenager and simply trying to figure out your life. There are songs about dealing with fake and annoying people (Still Take You Home, Fake Tales of San Francisco, etc.), songs about young love (You Probably Couldn't See..., Mardy Bum, etc.), and songs about how rubbish your own town is (A Certain Romance, When the Sun Goes Down, etc.). It's one of the finest collections of songs of all time. Whether you're British or not, it's still a relatable and heartwarming album that everyone should listen to at least once.

17 Crush - Bon Jovi

Not my favorite Bon Jovi album, but it is definitely one of the best albums of the 2000s. It's My Life and Thank You for Loving Me are the best hits of this album.

It's My Life, best song of Bon Jovi including Have a Nice. This is better than that crash of heart and Madonna!

One of my top 3 favorite albums from this amazing band.

18 The Emancipation of Mimi - Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi wasn't only the best album of 2005. It was also one of the best, if not the best, of the 2000s decade. It set and broke several records and was the best-selling album of 2005, with over 10 million copies sold worldwide. It produced six singles, all of which experienced success on different charts globally. The album spawned two chart-toppers: "We Belong Together" and "Don't Forget About Us."

"We Belong Together" topped the chart for 14 weeks, marking the longest stay at number one in the past decade. It was the second-longest stay at number one ever, only behind Mariah's own "One Sweet Day," a collaborative effort with Boyz II Men, which held the top spot for a record 16 weeks. During "We Belong Together's" reign, The Emancipation of Mimi's third single peaked at number two. This achievement made Mariah the first and only female artist to occupy the top two positions on the Hot 100.

The other chart-topper from the album, "Don't Forget About Us," became Mariah's 17th number one, the most for any female artist. She has since surpassed this record: the lead single from her album E=MC2, "Touch My Body," reached number one in 2008. This feat made her the solo artist with the most number-one hits and the second overall, only behind The Beatles, who have 20. She remains the only active artist with the potential to surpass The Beatles' record of 20 number-one songs.

Additionally, the album itself received a warm reception from music critics and fans alike. It and its songs garnered major awards and nominations, most notably earning 10 Grammy nominations for 2005-2006 and winning three. At the end of the decade, "We Belong Together" was crowned the Song of the Decade (2000-2009) by Billboard. This accolade made Mariah the only artist to have two consecutive Songs of the Decade, as "One Sweet Day" also achieved that feat for 1990-1999.

Lastly, the entire The Emancipation of Mimi album was vocally stunning... more

19 Speakerboxxx / the Love Below - Outkast
20 Hot Fuss - The Killers
21 Jupiter's Darling - Heart

This CD is as good as any HEART ever recorded. J.D. ranks right up there with Little Queen and Dreamboat Annie. If you don't have it, buy it and give it a spin. Recorded in 2004, it ranks in the top 3 of all of HEART's records.

Things, Perfect Goodbye, Lost Angel are three of the best songs HEART has ever recorded, but of course, they didn't make the radio station playlist. Too busy playing that RAP junk.

22 The Blueprint - Jay-Z

How is this so low? It is so much better than the overrated The Marshall Mathers LP. It is one of the best rap albums of all time, and Jay-Z is the second-best rapper behind Biggie. Eminem is just plain overrated.

This album should be much higher. It is much, MUCH better than the Marshall Mathers LP. This album has excellent beats and a very diverse sound. It's the best album of the 2000s, in my opinion.

23 Stadium Arcadium - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Seriously? Dani California, Snow (Hey Oh), Tell Me Baby, Storm in a Teacup, Charlie, Warlocks, the list could go on!

24 Death Magnetic - Metallica

Love this album. It is so good, every song is a masterpiece.

25 The Script - The Script

The Script is the second-best Script album. Top 5:
1. The Script and...
2. The Script
3. Why Are You Here
4. Superhero
5. You're My Only One (40 tracks!)
