Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I'm gonna let you finish but... But Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, is the best Call of Duty of all time. MW2 & MW3 both suck. Me, like many, many others know that this is the best Call of Duty out of them all. First of all... The campaign is just spectacular, it's grabs your attention from the get go and it is so consistent. Best mission on the story mode HAS to be All Ghillied Up/One Shot One Kill, them two mission captivated me in such a way I can't even begin to explain. I love the soundtrack to this game too, instantly when I hear it, it's just brings back so so so many memories. The eerie, mysterious music the gloomy dull maps, the atmosphere, everything about that game is just spot on perfect. It's such a captivating soundtrack it almost makes me cry when I hear it. That sounds weird I know but I'm sure many Cod4 fans know what I mean! Multiplayer was just the best out of any call of duty, it was so balanced and fair. My favorite maps where mainly the ones that took place in ...more
First game I got with me Xbox, I absolutely loved it. I went from a complete noob to a respectable player after a year or two playing this guy.
Sure there was some nooby stuff, random grenading, juggernaut, etc. But the nooby stuff back then is just so much more fun... And less nooby than the nooby stuff that came afterwards.
We had Tanks and nonstop MP40 no-scope "skill" from an entire map away (which were ridiculously big in WAW, by the way)... Not to mention "bouncing betties" modeled after the bomb that hit hiroshima.
We had nonstop campfests encouraged by compounding kill-streaks and insanely strong (and easy to use) assault rifles in MW2... And akimbo... And infinite noobtubes... And civil war shotguns that could hit you from orbit.
And now we get a copy of MW2, complete with all of its problems, but with a complimentary terrible spawning system and awful maps.
In my opinion the franchise has been going downhill since ...more
Call of Duty 4 is the best in my opinion because it only has 3 killstreaks, and the game is original. When I play Call of Duty 4, I feel like I am truly at war. The snipers and the guns in the game are all very good, none of them are over powered. I love this game, my favorite game in the world. If anyone thinks that this game is bad, that means that you have only played Black ops. I dislike Modern Warfare 2 because MW2 have so many horrible things about the game. Commando, Last Stand, Overpowered guns, Overpowered killstreaks such as the harriers and the chopper gunner, and over powered perks. The only perk that is over powered in Call of Duty 4 is Stopping Power, which nobody uses because they use other perks that can replace stopping power. I only use stopping power when I snipe, not when I rush with the MP5 silenced. This is a great game, I love this game, and this will be my favorite game of all time, tied with Modern Warfare 3. The Campaign is phenomenal. People who play this ...more
By far the best Call of Duty. It was my first Call of Duty and still I haven't gotten the same experience from a game yet. The experience I got was innovation. This is the game that started the copy paste cookie cutter games like mw2, WAW, and Black Ops, except that it wasn't something we've been spoon fed before. The guns in this game were fun to use. The maps were probably the best part. I looked forward to every map. The maps were the perfect size. Not too small to where a grenade got you three kills 2 seconds into the game but not to large where you couldn't find anyone. This game struck a perfect balance in gameplay, graphics, maps, and guns. While some guns were better than others, I could use any gun and be effective and while some perks were more useful than others, I could gets kills without martyrdom. I love this game and think it is the best game in the Call of Duty series.
This is the best game ever. Sure it has hackers but who cares about that the when is has full on awesome gameplay. The single player campaign just keep me wondering what's going to happen next so I would stay up to play the next mission. The multiplayer is the best multiplayer out of all the Call of Duty games because, when it comes to playing multiplayer, you just have to keep leveling up, leveling up. It will go like that for hours and hours until your mom comes in and shuts it off or until you decide you've had enough (but we all know that's not going to happen. ) So if you want to have a really good gameplay with some good graphics (but who cares about the graphics) then you should try and get a copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It will have you non-stop gaming because of the suspense in the missions and the wanting to level up in multiplayer. Have fun trying to stop playing this game because you won't be able to stop. This game is one of the best games for FPS. Now run ...more
It's simply the greatest FPS game of all time. It took a tired FPS genre and took everything to a whole new level. The guns had the best "feel" to them out of any FPS game I've played. The maps were the most fun and memorable in the whole series. The perk system was such a brilliant idea that hundreds of games have been copying off of it ever since. There were just so many things to love about this game.
Sure, it had a few flaws, like the lack of a host migration system. But the flaws were easy to look past when the game was so damn fun. I put WEEKS worth of hours of my life into playing this game and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It will always have a special place in my heart as my favorite online game of all time.
They say war is hell. Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes you to the very depths of Hades. The long-awaited COD4, IW's follow-up to the excellent Call of Duty 2, is a jarring, intense, and gripping take on war in the new millennia. The enemies are smarter, the weapons are deadlier, and the grenades all too plentiful. COD4 will shake loose your fillings and have you begging for more.
Infinity Ward was born out of the success of retelling some of the greatest battles in World War II. The company has become synonymous with the virtual beach at Normandy. So it was quite a gamble to break from the comfort zone of Nazi-occupied Europe and leap into present day. The gamble paid off. Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and every other military-based shooter has been put on notice. There is a new standard to judge this sub-genre and it is Call of Duty 4.
The game was incredible on PC. On consoles it was just as boring as all the other Call of Duty games. You would play for a month or two and then leave it there and search for another title because the game was "too easy". On PC however it felt completely different. It was a great FPS game and the thing that made it look great was Promod, which kept the needed things on the game, the best maps and left out all the stuff (perks, levels, gun-extras etc). Personally I believe that if there were more attention in the game, it would have been evolved even better. Sadly the game is now dead.
This game was so well balanced, it's tough to not crown it as the best Call of Duty game. Every weapon on every map make sense, and the game is fun to play. This is probably the only Call of Duty game that actually still has a bit of a stealth element to it, as well as being combat-intensive, so the game has quite some variety. The physics engine is very consistent, where it's successors suffer from major lag issues. The environments were pretty well designed, so this is a Call of Duty game that actually deserves a place in video game history.
Quite possibly the greatest game ever created, the fact that people have voted for MW2 over the original MW is an injustice. This was the game that killed off world War 2 as the main setting for combat, it introduced the console gamer to the thrills of modern day combat. The engine ran brilliantly, guns and kill-streaks were better balanced than they have been in any subsequent Call of Duty, and probably, best of all, it gave the world Captain Pric, owner of the greatest facial hair in the history on mankind!
Why would you not pick COD4? If it wasn't for COD4 their would be no MW2 or Crap ops or Modern Warfare 3. This is by far the best call of duty ever. Does anyone remember the noobtubes in this game? Oh that's right their weren't any. Anyone remember commando in this game, sorry wrong game. Or second chance? Yes it was there but it was a horrible perk. I hope that the next Call of Duty is a COD4 remake with the only change the graphics. This game even with the hackers is better than any other Call of Duty and I will stand by that all the way
Call of Duty 4 is the best of the series because of its campaign and great multiplayer. The multiplayer had some much more variation in maps allowing for different play styles. WaW's only bad point was its setting. Mw2 was alright but it started to become a game that required no skill, not saying the Call of Duty games require much, and more run and gun. Black ops... The game sucks, the campaign was cool but the multiplayer was by far the worse. Here's hoping mw3 will some what resemble Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
This was the game that set the bar for not only graphics, but the multiplayer experience itself. Although the customizability was slightly more limited than the current Call of Duties, it was by far the most balanced game. Modern Warfare 3 was a step in the right direction, but the spawn system at times can be atrocious. I am a 2.3 k/d player and when I play free for all, it is just complete mayhem. The spawn system is a very hard thing to tweak, but I believe that the "Revenge Spawning" needs to go away. 6-12 People on a map is fine without you spawning behind 5 other people while they spawn behind you.
While newer Call of Duty's have much better multiplayer and graphics, if you're playing them for the campaign then you will see some deteriorating quality in the follow ups to this masterpiece. It plays out like a well crafted season of 24. Slow build up where necessary, jaw dropping moments, easily some of the best levels in any game ever specifically the ghillied up mission. While no Call of Duty is necessarily poor quality, the campaign is outstanding all the way through
This game was a pioneer... It brought the excitement of Call of Duty to the modern front. The campaign was UNREAL! From the excitement of running and gunning to the suspense of stealthily making your way through hundreds of enemy soldiers undetected, this was the most well rounded Call of Duty game by far... I'm not even going to get started on the multiplayer because it is a game on its own... Absolutely perfect in all categories... This will always be my favorite Call of Duty game.
I reckon this is the best "Call of Duty" out first to be made and also the best. It has a lot of potential in it. Fun to play, its also more then a game over the passed years it had been a hobby other then just a game the graphics are the same with all the Call Of Duties combined. The guns are also cool my favorite gun in this game is the MP5 I don't know why but it just is, If anyone would like to start playing the Call of Duty series I recommend you start of with this one or play this one
PC COD4 owns ALL and current Call of Duty games today. It's the crest of how a game should be created and proves "if it ain't broke, why fix it? " They should've stuck to this formula. But money took precedence over their weak, insipid minds. For anyone who thinks, or even eludes to the notion, that P2P is superior (a la, ignorant console players), then they have absolutely no idea how great having actual proper dedicated servers are.
This game took me 23 hours to complete the campaign. I will tell you now, that this is the purest, most action-packed Call of Duty game in the franchise. This is the first Call of Duty game that got good graphics. The campaign is the best campaign out of all of the Call of Duty games ever made. All Ghillied Up is a personal favorite, as I enjoy sniping, but that doesn't count for everyone. This game has a very modern aspect to it, as the name implies. Basically, the campaign is great. This has the best multiplayer I have ever seen in a Call of Duty game. So many guns to choose from, and all of them feel fun to use. None of the guns seem overpowered, even though some of the LMGs are really strong. If I had to rate this game on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 10. Even back in the days of 2007, I would rate this a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.
A revolution in game design and multiplayer, CoD4 was the perfect wargame/fps. The rest of the Call of Duty entries in the series have been carbon copies of the standard this game set, building upon the high pedestal this game sits on. If Activision wasn't such a money whore pumping out a "new" (I use the term new loosely) game every 11 months, this game would still be number one among many FPS fans.
This game was the turning point for the Call of Duty series that launched it into a new era of fame and fun. The Call of Duty formula that is still being recycled in every single Call of Duty game to date originally came here. It had a story campaign that was both realistic, suspenseful, compelling, and epic. The multiplayer was awesome and balanced (for the most part). Most Call of Duty games can only try to give the same thrills this one did, but they will never succeed.
Best call of duty, Very well balanced. Golden weapons were hard to obtain and the singleplayer was one of the biggest improvements I have seen within a Call of Duty game. Every class had it's own beauty. Claymores weren't as overpowered. Maps were brilliant, map pack came at a good price. No wonder they remade some of them in later mappacks. Overgrown is the best sniper map out there, and great for S&D also. Still playable, less hackers then MW2.
And the killstreaks we're at perfect balance. And back in the day. A chopper in this game felt like an achievement.
Overall 10/10 for multiplayer experience.
People can argue all they want about the campaign, where Call of Duty really shines is in the multiplayer. This game is what really got Call of Duty on the map and introduced all the aspects of the games we love today (create a class, perks, etc. ) As a current fan of the series, I will forever cherish this game as it was my first Call of Duty experience unparalleled in excitement and novelty and instantly made me fall in love with the franchise.
I feel as though the newer games had some really nice features such as further weapon customization and more guns that really could have improved gameplay if they simply added them to this game.
The maps and environments are vastly superior to those of the other games. They had a wide variety of small, medium and large maps that allowed the purposeful use of all the classes of guns. I find the new games are impossible to snipe in effectively and most heavily favor the use of SMG's. I found that camping was harder as the player was easier to spot even when motionless. The game also had a feeling of more realism that I find lacks in the other games.
I feel that the maps were so much more fun to play that if they simply added the new guns, and maybe the gun leveling system of MW3 this game would be hands down the best game multiplayer wise. If they re-launched a vamped up version of this game with the same maps and environments I none of the other games would even be worth ...more
Brilliant game. The graphics for the time were revolutionary. The campaign is the best and most realistic modern warfare game. As in you could actually believe that the fighting and the way the characters interact with the terrain were real, instead of playing as super soldiers who can never die..
Cod4 is still the best, it's simple, and fits for everyone, if you like big maps, it has big maps, if you like small maps, it has small maps, if you like small team games, it has it, simple perks, good graphics, has the feel of just a fun shooter, not a bunch of packed up stuff like mw3 or the others, I don't even bother the others, I bought ALL the others then sold em the next day, cod4 is very good.
