Top 10 Best Creepypastas of All Time

To people who don't know what a Creepypasta is, let me explain. A Creepypasta is a short story posted on the internet designed to unnerve and shock the reader. I looked high and low for the best of the best, and here they are. Let's begin.
The Top Ten
1 Jeff the Killer Jeff the Killer is a creepypasta usually accompanied by a picture of a white face looking in to the camera smiling in an unsettling manner. The creepypasta is also usually accompanied by the term "Go to sleep".

Jeff the Killer was the first creepypasta I'd ever read, and boy, was that a mistake for the first time. When I read it, my mom and brother were at the park. I am almost never home alone, so I took this as a chance to read something scary. Well, I didn't mean horrifying. When I first read it, I stood there thinking, This isn't scary, and then turned to Jeff Returns. That's where I started to get freaked out. I immediately shut off the computer and ran into my bedroom, taking my three dogs with me, two of which were very large guard dogs. Then, I turned on children's TV and read some romance novel, anything to get my mind off it. Because the more you think of it, the more it haunts you.

2 BEN Drowned

BEN is a figure who takes on the form of the Elegy of Emptiness statue of Link's human form in the title: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The writer is terrified by this entity because it seemingly haunts the game cartridge in a way that makes the victim of this pasta feel alone, hopeless, and trapped. The reason this creepypasta belongs near the top is because it is a good read, it is very believable (contains videos), it is quite lengthy, and it goes into great detail with the characters, settings, and events, allowing you to paint a vivid picture in your head. I highly recommend reading this one.

3 Slender Man

I have seen Slender Man in the woods near Bridgeport, Michigan. He was tall and skinny, with long tentacle-like arms. My friends and I were in the woods exploring, and we found this trail camera. When we took the SD card out, it said, Look behind you. We all turned around and glanced through the bush, and there he was, standing there. We all screamed and ran the whole three miles home. We stayed in the basement the rest of the day and night, glancing out the window to make sure he didn't follow us home.

I think he is one of the urban legends that started the whole creepypasta wiki/story thing in the first place. I also think that he would scare a lot of people if they actually saw him. Wouldn't it freak you out if there was a 10 1/2 foot tall guy with no face trying to kill you? I certainly know that most of the people in this world would be. Well, not most, but maybe the little kids. A lot of people would be all like, 'How can he follow me? He doesn't even have eyes!' That's what a creepypasta is, right? Stories made to actually 'scare' people. So, please, let's all give him a little more credit, shall we?

4 The Russian Sleep Experiment

This is the first creepypasta that I've read and, after the experience, I've been traumatized with horror and shocked with fear. This was a new level in horror for me and a terrifying masterpiece. The goosebumps have not stopped ever since the reading. The psychological horror and gruesome twists almost physically force the vomit out of your stomach. This creepypasta keeps the reader on the edge of their seats.

This is the greatest creepypasta ever written and it is truly worth your time. The end leaves the reader with a deafening silence afterward. This bone-chilling tale is riveting and the pure definition of the horror genre. I have one word of advice for those who want to read this piece of literature... DON'T FALL ASLEEP. "I must remain awake." - The Russian Sleep Experiment

5 Squidward's Suicide

The reason this creepypasta is scary is because it is hard to disprove. The SpongeBob crew all say they saw it. If you don't know the creepypasta, it goes something like this:

"The show started off normal, with Squidward playing his instrument at a concert. The audio and video start to not match. However, it was quickly fixed. After playing, however, people start booing, even SpongeBob, whose eyes look extremely realistic. If you watch SpongeBob, you probably know this is unlike him. Squidward starts to look scared. Then he screams. We were then treated with switches between Squidward and scary-looking images. This goes on and on."

6 Eyeless Jack

Eyeless Jack deserves this because of how much he spooked me in the stories. The only thing I don't really understand is why, after a long time (for any of the pastas), I am more with hysterical laughter instead of being scared. I just now live for the gore and graphic descriptions of death because of many of these stories.

Eyeless Jack is just AMAZING. He can be just as good as all of the other Creepypastas if the writer hadn't done such a bad job... He's my personal favorite, and all of my friends' favorite! We all had a fight over who got to be Eyeless Jack for Halloween! And we ate kidney beans in tribute to him (laugh out loud, it was gross).

7 The Rake

They have proof this thing exists... video, news, pictures... it's not something anyone would want to be real because of its blood-curdling appearance. This thing could possibly be an alien but is kept known as an unknown creature for its looks. The Rake has very little information known about it. Its body position makes it seem this thing was hit by a car or something, and it has only appeared twice through video and been heard once. It may be deadly, but it's quiet, so it can easily slip into rooms without the victim noticing. It's a horrifying thing that makes me terrified when I see it. Reading about it makes me shiver.

8 Smile Dog

Smile Dog is a chain email/picture that circulates the net. The description of the picture depicts a dog, possibly a husky, with a human-like grin. In the background, there is a hand described as "beckoning," accompanied by a shadowy figure in the corner. It has been said that this figure is the notorious Jeff the Killer, though that remains unknown. Anyone who receives the picture is plagued with nightmares urging them to "spread the word". Essentially, you have to pass the picture on to someone else for the dreams to stop. Whether you send it as soon as you get it, or keep it locked up inside you, the dreams can drive you crazy. The question for you is, could you bring this upon someone else? Could you really do that to someone? Could you spread the word?

9 Laughing Jack Laughing Jack is the titular main antagonist of the Creepypasta story of the same name. He is a sadistic killer clown who was originally an imaginary friend to a little boy. That is until the boy forgot about him. Follow his story through being made, forgotten, and becoming a sadistic killer clown,... read more

Below, that is not the story. The story is about a father of a 6-year-old son named James, and at night, someone is trying to get James. His father told him to stay in the backyard when playing, and it looks like James is playing with an imaginary person whose name is Laughing Jack. A couple of nights later, Laughing Jack had killed their dog and then the next night, James. The father saw Laughing Jack face to face. When the father tried to stab Laughing Jack, he disappeared. One thing I don't get about the story is why did the father leave the child alone in a bedroom after knowing someone was after him?

10 Suicidemouse.avi

This is an amazing creation and a crazy video because, in all honesty, this story has a suicidal Mickey Mouse, and that's not new! Back when Walt Disney was still designing the comics, he had one artist make a sad and horrible comic of Mickey losing Minnie and making three attempts at his life, which were all comically foiled.

This comic strip surely inspired the idea of this creepypasta and is slightly disturbing to realize Mickey WAS suicidal! The worst part of the true fact is the third time he tried, he turned on the gas pipe in his house so he would run out of oxygen, which is exactly how Walt Disney's mother died. He had attempted to fix a gas problem, and she asphyxiated a few weeks later, and this morbid death was incorporated in his comic! Walt Disney, by himself with what he's done, is almost just as disturbing as a fake story!

The Contenders
11 Penpal

Straight up, the only creepypasta I've read that has actually given me nightmares for an extended amount of time. And I'm not talking about days or weeks, but straight up months. Why does it scare me so much, you ask? And why does it make all other creepypastas look fake in comparison?

For one, it can actually happen. There aren't many pieces of solid evidence for supernatural beings, such as the Rake and Slenderman. But there are plenty of murder and pedophile stories out there. That's what I learned after the age of ten: there is no such thing as the boogeyman, but there are murderers out there. Actual real-life people with real-life problems who have the delusion that ending one's life is okay, even if it means harsh punishment in the future.

Second: it digs deep into your darkest fear: the unknown. You never know what might be looking at you through your bedroom window. What's watching you in a nearby bush. There is no bigger dread than not knowing that, up to that one moment you realize what is going on, you were being stalked since who knows when. All this time you were clueless to what was going on only to realize that the answer was right behind you. He killed your friends, your family, your pets. And where were you at? Right in his sights, all you had to do was turn around. But how would you know that? You could be watched all your life from the day you take your first breath to the day you take your last, and never know about the danger you were in for all that time.

12 Abandoned by Disney

This is the best, creepiest one I've ever read and my personal favorite. I literally had a Mickey Mouse phobia for like a week or two (like one of the other commenters) and kept seeing photo negative Mickey EVERYWHERE and couldn't get his flipping voice out of my head. To add to this, this is also the most realistic pasta I've ever read and actually has a little bit of real history to it. Disney really did have a water park that closed for no apparent reason. It was only found out a couple of years ago by explorers that it closed due to a brain-eating amoeba in the water.

13 Ticci Toby

Ticci Toby is definitely one of my favorite Creepypastas, right up there with The Rake, Slender, and The Russian Sleep Experiment. The story is well-written, detailed, and creepy. It's believable, too. I think that it should be higher up the list. I definitely think that Toby's story is better than Jeff's story. Toby deserves a higher spot.

I really like Ticci Toby's story. It was really well-written. He is the same as Masky. Whenever he is nearby, so is Slenderman. Ticci Toby would be so difficult to defeat as he feels no pain. He is quite skilled with hatchets and has probably lost all sanity. He's a proxy, so he will do anything, kill anyone, or even torture someone.

14 Psychosis

It's long, but it's worth a read. This is a great story to show a journey to insanity. It reminds us how fragile the human mind is. You keep on thinking again and again if he was insane or if some kind of entity was after him, and if the whole human race was really all dead... or worse. What makes this story so amazing is the twist at the end, but you have to think a little more to realize that twist. The thought of something after him, the fear, and who to trust - the story really let me experience that. I'm not sure about everyone else. I'm not scared of it much thanks to reading it more than 5 times. I recommend this story. It blew me away when I read the ending. I discovered this story while going through YouTube, and I'm happy I did. When I first read it... at night, by the way... around midnight, I was scared. It was written with a talented use of grammar and words too.

It's funny though...
How his insanity was the thing that "saved" him.

Or did it?

15 1999

What makes this creepypasta so good is not its scariness, but its convincing nature, creating a sense that this story may have actually happened. It delves into the realms of disturbing, focusing on the sick, demented mind of a pedophile who creates a local channel for little kids, just to lure them into his house, torture them, and sacrifice them. There are a few plot holes, especially concerning the parents of these kids who are lured into the house and don't seem bothered by their children's disappearance. However, it's a well-written story with great suspense. It delves into the mind of a kid watching the show, almost being lured into the house, and how his childhood was much darker than he remembered years later.

16 NES Godzilla Creepypasta

I'd read creepypastas before, but this is the creepypasta that got me into creepypastas! I find it odd that so many people didn't like the ending because the story did such a good job of building your hatred and anger for the villain that it was really, REALLY great to see the little bastard get his comeuppance at the end! I wish I could have viewed the sequel, but either it isn't posted yet, or I just can't find it anywhere.

This was my third creepypasta, and I have to say it's the best. I'm having trouble believing this isn't in the top ten since it's so damn good. Tons of pictures accompany the story, making it all the more believable and thrilling. I believe there's even music from the game you can find online. It's not exactly lose-sleep scary, but it's a great thrill ride and puts an amazing twist on the beloved original game.

17 Candle Cove

I've known about this one for a long time, but I never really read it. So yesterday, I did, and now whenever I think of 'The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack,' this comes to mind really quickly (they are sort of similar). Out of all the abandoned TV show creepypastas that I've seen (and I've seen a lot), this is my favorite. It's also one of my top ten pastas overall. It's really creative, and the more you think about those shows you watched as a kid, the weirder it seems. They let us watch some weird stuff, so this sort of takes me on a nostalgia trip when I read it. A really creepy one, that is.

18 Herobrine

Herobrine should be at a higher place than this because he is a badass. And just think about it, you are in a large dark place by yourself and you suddenly see two white glowing eyes in the distance, stalking you with a bloody sword in its hand. CREEPY.

I don't know how people can believe that stupid scenario of the dead brother, but I've heard sightings from too many people to not believe in Herobrine. I think of him as the horror element of the game. I'd be glad to meet him.

Herobrine is REAL. I made a Herobrine spawner a couple of months ago, and nothing happened so I left my world. When I came back the next day, my entire world was underwater. THIS IS NOT FAKE.

19 Lavender Town Syndrome

Lavender Town may be a little bit creepy, like the ghost and others, but the worst part is the song. They say it causes suicides. CREEPY! And this song has been stuck in my head for days. Every time I listen to it, it will never get out of my head until I either wait until it's gone or listen to some other music or watch some TV to get it out of my mind. Oh yeah, one more thing, I know this is not a real creepypasta, but it's called creepypastaphobia. It's where if you read a certain creepypasta, you will be scared. The common ones are you can't sleep, nightmares, look everywhere, and other symptoms. Some are exclusive. For example, say if you read a Squidward's Suicide creepypasta and if you look at the photo, you either can't look at Squidward or if you see a toy of him, you use something to destroy it. And that's why I like the Pokémon Lavender Town creepypasta.

20 Jane the Killer Jane the killer is the main character of the creepypasta story Jane the Killer: The real Story. She is know to be a rival to the creepypasta Jeff the Killer.

Jane, Jane, she is a pretty and very intelligent Creepypasta, but also almost impossible to kill. She has super fast, super strength, clear eyesight, and beauty because she can knock someone out with her beauty and apparently hypnotize them. She also is a killer that doesn't kill innocent people (unlike Jeff the Killer).

Jane the Killer is a good read, but I think the twist with Jeff was not a good choice. Plus, I think she should have a lone story, one not involving Jeff.

Jane deserves to come second on the list with Jeff. The perfect couple. She is creepy and dangerous! She wears black to show you the danger she can cause. That's pretty awesome.

21 Normal Porn for Normal People

Not keep you up all night scary, but creepy and, best of all, believable. I don't believe for a second that it is real, but something like this could easily be lurking on the deep web somewhere. It's also well written, which helps to build the mood just right. Jeff never did anything for me, although the picture is creepy.

This story is very interesting, convincing, and well thought out. It was also a good combination of bizarre and unsettling, and the author did a good job at making it believable. I usually think of things featured in creepypastas as being a pile of nonsense, but I actually thought the videos were real.

22 Cupcakes

I don't find this one creepy or scary. I enjoyed reading it, though! I've had a few friends, who aren't a part of this fandom, read it, and they were freaked out. I may or may not have laughed at them. Personally, I like stuff like this, and I don't have to worry about nightmares because I'm a lucid dreamer! It doesn't mean people don't die in my dreams...

Not scary, but disturbing. All the gore and cutting you read makes you uncomfortable. I've read it many times and I don't think it's scary. I love it! Love the way that a cute happy pony can be so mad and sadistic. In my opinion, it suits Pinkie Pie. But that's just me, I love twisted things, good becoming evil.

23 Masky

Masky is a brilliant character from the channel MarbleHornets. I am actually quite scared of his character, as he is shown to appear out of nowhere and is very aggressive. MarbleHornets was presented amazingly and seemed so real. I don't know how many times I have been jump-scared by Masky appearing around the corner in the videos. Masky also scares me because wherever he is, Slenderman is sure to be close by. He can easily tackle you and even kill you. The whole concept of him being anywhere at any time, teleported around by Slenderman, actually makes me paranoid and creeps me out.

24 The Harbinger Experiment

That song sounds like 60s AC/DC, lol. That song, it sounds like this: oahoaaoaooahaohaoahaoaho. I learned about this on Amazon Prime, the stuff called role play Creepypasta. It's epic. There is also an SCP that I now watch. I watched all the rp Creepypasta episodes.

25 The Strangest Security Tape I've Ever Seen

I've seen and read and listened to someone read it, and man, was I spooked by how realistic it seemed to be. God, please don't tell me this is actually real!

I love this one. It's creepy like a creepypasta should be and it's interesting at the same time. One of the best in my opinion.

It's a little creepy but mostly really weird and interesting. Time loops...
