When the 4 teams from the ABA merged with the NBA, Thompson was immediately voted 1st Team All-Star (even won an All-Star MVP award). Unfortunately, knee-injuries and drugs bested him. In his day, he was unreal! Carmelo can't come close to the "Skywalker" legend, he's too much of a punk - biggest whiner (along with Kobe and Dirk) I've ever seen. Thompson ALWAYS hustled back on D - Carmelo can't spell "D" if you spotted him the D.

When Dan Issel retired, he was fifth on the all time combined ABA/NBA scoring list. He also contributed by being the best rebounder on the team during his years in Denver and was the best on the team at getting to the free throw line. He is the greatest player in Nuggets history.
