Top 10 Best Fall Out Boy Songs

The Top Ten
1 Sugar, We're Goin Down

Kick-ass song and iconic beyond measure.
If I ask my neighbors who Fall Out Boy is, their response would probably be, "The 'We're going down, down,' band, right?"

I play guitar, and this is a jam! I blast this (to the detriment of my hearing and my neighbors' agreeability) and play along in my garage - jumping around and windmilling like I'm Joe.

"Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" is fantastic, yet "Sugar, We're Going Down" is the clear and obvious winner.
If you're going for iconography - Sugar.
If you're going for sales - Sugar.
If you're going for lyricism, "Arms Race" probably clinches it.
But "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs"?
I feel as though some FoB fans are attempting to allude, "No! We're not bandwagoners! We love the band in all its diversity! Sugar is played way too much!"
The reality is, if these FoB fans were searching for their best song, it would probably be "The (Shipped) Gold Standard." Unpopular? Yes. But lyrically and musically, "The Shipped Gold Standard" is possibly their most mellifluous and extending work.

Just because it's their most popular song doesn't mean it's bad.

Vote now! Uncle Pete needs you!

2 THNKS FR TH MMRS

This song got me to listen to more from this band. In my yearly summer program in 2022, one of the students played air drums to this song for the talent show on the last day. Now it's one of my most-listened-to songs in 2023.

The Phoenix, Young Volcanoes, and The Take Over, The Breaks Over all come close, but this song definitely takes the title. It's so catchy, and the vocals are just impeccable! I remember going back to one of my primary school dances long after graduating, and when this song came on, I lost it at the chorus. No matter how many times you hear it, it never gets old.

3 Dance, Dance

I love this song simply because of its meaningful lyrics, like "Drink up, it's last call, last resort, but only the first mistake," and the beat is just amazing. Another amazing lyric goes, "Weighed down with words too overdramatic, tonight it's 'It can't get much worse' vs 'No one should ever feel like!'"

Good beat, good drums and guitars. Both melody and backup guitars are extraordinary. As usual, amazing vocals and pure alternative rock. My personal reason for loving this song is that it reminds me of a beautiful pastime memory. Glorious.

4 My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)

Okay, I get why Thnks Fr Th Mmrs and Sugar We're Goin' Down are fan favorites. But let's be real: those songs weren't well-known or well-liked when they first came out. I've heard this song so many times on popular radio stations, which means it's great for both Fall Out Boy fans and the general public. Also, this is the song that put Fall Out Boy back on the map after a three-year hiatus. It's one of the most catchy and fun songs and has great lyrics. Shouldn't this song receive more praise than it's getting?

One of the best rhythmic and melodic styles I've ever heard in a song. It's so passionate and almost desperate in a unique way, if that makes sense. It just riles me up, and I can't stop bouncing off the walls when I hear this song. It's truly a magnificent masterpiece!

5 The Phoenix

Eh, I thought this wouldn't have made it, but I guess I was wrong. Save Rock and Roll is my favorite album, and my favorite songs from it are Rat a Tat and Where Did the Party Go. The Phoenix is probably #3 or #4 because it's an okay song with a lot of excitement, but not my favorite.

I was skeptical about Fall Out Boy's return, but honestly, after hearing this song, I was convinced the album was going to be great. Patrick is spectacular with this song, and it is worthy of the top 10.

The second song on "Save Rock and Roll" is followed by the oh-so-popular "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)." But this song brought the band back alright! It raised them from their hiatus like a phoenix.

6 This Ain't a Scene, It's An Arms Race

Awesome beat. I wasn't overly impressed with other Fall Out Boy songs, but this is the one that got me hooked. Sugar, We're Goin Down may be the obvious choice, but I like this one much more.

What can I say about Fall Out Boy? This song is really well-known. You can easily dance to it, just like you can to Dance, Dance. This song is in my top ten.

One of their best songs, hands down. Catchy lyrics, some of the best guitar riffs, and awesome choruses. It's better than Thnks fr th Mmrs.

7 Centuries

This is my favorite song in the whole world. It's me. One of my biggest goals is in the lyrics. This is what cool rock should be. The energy makes me feel like I can do anything in the world!

Are you guys demented? This song is way better than any of the above. Did you people even listen to this song? This song rocks and is the best. It actually has a meaning. It inspires and motivates us to do better and put our names down in the books of history. It has a fabulous tempo and great lyrics, all put together by the best band. Come on, guys, and listen to this song.

8 I Don't Care

I'm really disappointed that this song is only at #5. Why? 1: It's extremely catchy. 2: It has a brilliant chorus. 3: The instrumentals on this are incredible. 4: It's got an awesome guitar solo. I would rank this song at #2 or #3, alongside Dance, Dance.

Such a great song! Brilliant riff with a driving rhythm, great lyrics and lyrical style. The rest of the gang on backing vocals do themselves proud. The video is hilarious too!

In all my 18 years of listening to music, both old and new, I have never heard a sweeter tune than this one. Normally, I'd say that I don't have a favorite song, but rather a list of favorite songs. This one makes me glad to be alive.

9 Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy

This song is my all-time favorite. I love all songs by Fall Out Boy, but this one is in my top 3. I know I should love all their songs equally, but really, this one is beautiful. I love how Patrick uses his voice in this. It sounds great with the guitar and drums. P.S. I am listening to it right now.

I still don't understand how Thnks fr th Mmrs has gotten so many votes! This is a far better song, so can all the little girls please stop voting for Thnks fr th Mmrs? In fact, don't vote at all! This is proper Pop Punk Rock right here!

10 What a Catch, Donnie

Maybe it's not the best musically, speaking of how much effort was put into it, but this is definitely the most heartfelt Fall Out Boy song ever. It's a perfect blend of friendship, loyalty, and love, and on top of that, it's a beautifully sounding song as well. And after all this, at the end we have many artists signed to Decaydance singing choruses from past Fall Out Boy hits, but slowly and almost solemnly, just adding to the beauty of this song. And there's the music video.

This is probably the most heartfelt, beautifully written, sung, and played Fall Out Boy song out there. It still has their feel to it, and their witty lyrics on top of that. I almost died during the ending when they made a tribute to all their past hits. If FOB had just stopped their career after this song, it wouldn't even be so bad.

The Contenders
11 Alone Together

This is my absolute favorite song. I can listen to it for hours and not get tired of it. It sounds amazing and has an important message if you listen to the lyrics. I would definitely place it at #1.

This song is not only part of Fall Out Boy's spearhead back into the rock genre, but it's also my favorite song because of the story it tells, as Fall Out Boy is known to do.

The lyrics are so amazing, and it has a really catchy beat. Save Rock and Roll is my favorite Fall Out Boy album, and this song is one of my favorite songs from the album.

12 I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me & You)

This is one of the classics that gets me every time. It makes me feel something when I hear it, unlike some of their new music. Though their new music is great, it doesn't provoke the same kind of thought. This song is beautiful, and I love it!

Finally, a non-mainstream song by them that is ranked below number 20. Their new stuff, like "Centuries," sucks. My favorite song is "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued," among a few others. But this song is very good too.

"The tree I used to lie beneath, kissed teeth, stained red. From that sour bottle, baby girl, with eyes the size of baby worlds"... If these aren't some of the most meaningful lyrics from Folie à Deux or that you've ever heard, then you don't love Fall Out Boy!

13 A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More Touch Me

This song is one of the best. I think it should be in the top ten. The instrumentals in this song are amazing, along with an amusing video to top it all off. It's a great piece of musical art.

This is one of the greatest songs they ever made. It's part of a group album released in 2005, but this song came out in 2006. For me, 2006 will always be the best year for music on the planet.

Well, at least the two commercial hits are number one, while their better songs are down here in the "contenders" list instead of the top 10 where they belong.

14 Save Rock and Roll

This song brings me close to tears every time I hear it. I love Patrick Stump and Elton John's voices mixed and harmonized. They fit so perfectly together. The piano, as well as the guitar, add something different to Fall Out Boy's genre that we have never heard before. A perfect ending to the comeback album.

The greatest band in the world managed to get someone who was knighted by a queen to sing in their song and made one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. It was an instant classic that brought back what rock and roll was all about.

15 Jet Pack Blues

I love Fall Out Boy. But like all artists who have had an elongated career, a lot of their songs can sound very similar. That doesn't mean they're bad, just not original. However, this song breaks the mold. It has beautiful lyrics that have plenty of deeper meaning. It doesn't become just a mash of words and guitars that exist to please the masses. It has a good rise and fall to it that messes with your emotions. All in all, I love this song. Rock on, Fall Out Boy!

The pure emotion conveyed through this song is just heart-stopping. I felt everything the subject felt and how they questioned whether or not they actually loved a past romantic interest while simultaneously mourning her loss. I still get chills whenever I hear this song.

16 Young Volcanoes

I love this song! The first few lines just pull you in, and I had one day when I played it eight times because it was so addictive and awesome. I love the beat of the chorus, and it's one of those songs you just want to chant along to. Oh, and that little giggle! I can't forget that! Who doesn't love that? It's so adorable.

This is a song that you could let your imagination run in every which way while listening to. When I write stories, I listen to this song among others for inspiration. It should be second only to My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark.

17 Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued

This is one of the songs that is always vying for the title of my favorite Fall Out Boy song. I know the lyrics to this song by heart (they aren't difficult or anything) and always sing it in the shower. We're only liars, but we're the best/ We're only good for the latest trends/ We're only good because you can have almost famous friends/ Besides, we've got such good fashion sense.

42!? No way should this song be that low. It's amazing. Sure, some of the lyrics are kind of messed up, but they're no worse than other songs by similar bands. This song should at least be in the top 30, yet it can't even crack the top 40!? That seems ridiculous to me.

18 Immortals

I can't believe this song is so low in the ranking! This song is pure awesomeness. I am in love with this song. This song made the movie sound awesome. This song definitely deserves to be in the Top Ten.

I personally think this song is the best one yet out of all the songs of theirs I've heard so far. I wish this song was #1. This song is awesome.

This is one of the best songs I have personally ever heard. This really needs to be first on the list.

19 The Take Over, the Break's Over

I love this song. It sounds amazing and catchy. Although the music video was enjoyable in a humorous way, the mob and Hemingway really caught my attention.

Catchy beat, thought-provoking lyrics, and a sick guitar solo - what more could you ask for? I'm really loving FOB's new albums and songs, but let's not forget the good old stuff as well!

This is epic with Patrick's guitar, and his vocals are so intense. I basically know the whole song. My point is, this is awesome!

20 I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me

Probably one of the best songs they have ever made! There are very few FOB songs that I dislike, and I even liked their two most recent albums. That being said, their older stuff is amazing. "I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me" is one of the overlooked gems on From Under the Cork Tree.

There are very few FOB songs that I hate, and I even liked their two most recent albums. That being said, their older stuff was amazing and "I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me" is one of the overlooked gems on "From Under the Cork Tree."

21 Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet

This song is very powerful and really great! This song proves Patrick's awesome singing skills on so many levels. His singing can go from high to low, allowing him to hit those beautiful notes and make an amazing impact on the entire song. The music altogether has a really strong melody, drawing you in and filling you with various emotions. Emotions about how beautiful and fantastic this song is.

The first time I listened to this song, it captivated me and took a long time to get out of my head. But I loved it! It should honestly have been in the top ten, because it's just too perfect.

22 Saturday

Fall Out Boy is my favorite band, and when I think of Fall Out Boy, I think about "Saturday." Pete Wentz was amazing with screamo. The lyrics are really cool and are from their best album, "Take This to Your Grave." I'm addicted to this song. I can't stop listening to it. Please listen to this song. Well, I don't guarantee you'll like it as much as I do, but I can assure you that you won't dislike it or hate it. Long live Fall Out Boy.

This song needs more recognition if it is this low on the list! Patrick, as usual, is amazing with the vocals, and this song is overall just great. It needs to be higher up.

23 Uma Thurman

I'm a fan of both their old and new stuff, even though I slightly prefer their older songs more (Dance, Dance, This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race, etc.). But this one song from American Beauty/American Psycho is just so fun to listen to that I can't help but vote for it.

This is their best song, but Immortals, Centuries, and My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark were pretty good too. I can move mountains. I can work a miracle. I'll keep you like an oath, and nothing but death will do us apart.

Underrated song! It should have been a hit in the UK but did not garner much airplay except on Radio 1. On the Billboard charts, it continues to rise, hopefully reaching the top ten! Great song!

24 Irresistible

When I started looking at the list, I was like, "Haha, 'Irresistible' will be here somewhere in the top tens." But when I saw it at number 48, I almost started laughing. This is a joke. This song is so amazing it deserves to be in the top ten. I know no one is voting for this song because the only reason is that no one has listened to it. So giddy up and download this song.

This song is so good, I could listen to it over and over again. It deserves to be #1.

"You look so Seattle but you feel so LA" has to be one of the best Fall Out Boy lyrics ever.

25 20 Dollar Nose Bleed

I love this song. Why, you may ask? Because it has my favourite people in it, of course. Fall Out Boy and Brendon Urie. *turns around and screams in happiness* No, but for real though, this song has made me cry from feels. This and Sugar We're Going Down have both made me cry before.

How is this not in the top 10? Everyday when I get home from school, I always listen to this and I'm like 'I'm A STRAY DOG SICK, PLEASE LET ME INN' You can clearly see that I love this song a lot. Come on people, you have to listen to this song!

It was so unbelievable that this song is in the last!
Come on guys, haven't you heard of this song yet?!
Try listening to the sample. This song is supposed to be on the top 10 or at least top 20.
