Best Metal Albums Since 2000
So I tried to make my most honest list of the top metal albums since 2000. The problem is that there are so many and I feel really bad for leaving some out. People will ask, "but where's slayer? metallica? slipknot? disturbed? tool? etc." I absolutely love slayer, metallica, pantera, judas priest and the whole lot. Obviously, lots of people are going to disagree with the list, but this is my most honest list of who I think should be recognized for having the strongest material over the past 12 years; the stuff that really made me love the genre. I prefer Iron Maiden's brave new world. But this should definitely be in the top 4, absolutely incredible album. How Lamb of god is even on this list, let alone 4th is beyond me...
Being a massive Maiden fan, I could not leave this album out of the list. This is the album (along with Rock in Rio) that introduced me to the world of Maiden. Needless to say I haven't looked back. Songs like "Blood Brothers" and "The Wickerman" should be considered to be Maiden classics for years to come. Recent tours have seen these songs make appearances in the set list and have gone over very well. Right up there with Number of the Beast, Powerslave, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son in my opinion.
Simple its Iron Maiden that's why it should be #1
Speaking of masterful songwriting, this album might be the best reflection of thought provoking music. Granted some people may consider the album to be more rock then metal, but there are some parts that are undeniably heavy! It might be slow and atmospheric, but my god it crushes! Along with classics like "Leviathan" and even their newest release "The Hunter", this band is showing us all the meaning of diversity in heavy music. Brent, Brann, Troy, and Bill are on a streak of some kind of genius right now.

Only Tool can make a 79 minute album that doesn't feel repetitive. From The Grudge all the way to Faaip de Oiad there isn't a single song that is bad on here. This, without a doubt, deserves the #1 spot.
Easily the best album of the 2000s. Period.
Again, what an album! I was born and raised on Metallica's S&M album, so the symphony coupled with insane riffs/melodies made me instantly fall in love with this album. When you have a track like "I Am Hell" open the CD and then have " Darkness Within" on it as well, that shows diversity! Some of the best song writing I've ever heard.
Probably the cleanest production of any Lamb of God record. I don't really know what to say about this album accept that it absolutely rips the whole way through. I didn't know whether to pick Ashes of the Wake or Sacrament because they are equally as good in my eyes, but for the sake of diversity in the set list, I will keep it to Sacrament. My favorite band to come emerge in the 2000's, songs are so strong! Simply the best!
Say what you will about this band, I absolutely love their ability to bring "opraic metal" tot he masses. This album is what really got me into them back in high school. It takes you for a ride that is pleasurable to say the least. Again, couldn't decide between Nightmare and Waking the Fallen, but I had to go with what got me into the band in the first place. Did I seriously had to add this masterpiece
This should be #1, in this Album Metallica goes back to its Thrash-Metal roots mixed in with some groovy heavy metal. It also has very good sound quality. All of the songs are good, there isn't one song that I would not listen to that is in this album. This album is definitely the best album since... And Justice For All. I would even go as far as that it's better than... And Justice For all because it has better bass quality and the lyrics are more meaningful and less angry. And James Hetfield's voice sounds much better than in the 80's and 90's. He doesn't sound like a whiny punk kid or like a redneck cowboy, now he finally sounds like a man. James rhythm guitar in this album is better than ever, Robert trujillo is a bass god, he really showed off his skills in All Nightmare long and Suicide & Redemption. This album is like a riturn to the origins for metallica
I bellive that robert Trujillo has a big impact on the music in death mgnetic and spetially in all nightmare long and suicide and redemption
The only boring song in this album is broken beat and scared and I think the four last minuts are verry cool

Every song on this is so heavy with so much groove and style. Probably one of my favorite albums ever

Ill Admit "Unto the Locust" Is one of the reasons I enjoy living on this planet, The Blackening although slightly oh so slightly less Epic and masterful this is just a insult at number 12.
Dir en grey have progressed a lot over the years and this is arguably their biggest jump. With Uroboros they explored a darker and more progressive sound whilst incorporating elements of Death metal (along with other).
