Top Ten Best Movies of the 1950s

1950's: Ben-Hur came out the first movie with 11 oscars, Some Like It Hot is remaining one of the greatest comedies ever and Vertigo is shocking today too...
The Top Ten
1 Vertigo

One of Hitchock's greatest thriller with a mind-blowing end

What is vertigo?

2 12 Angry Men

Even if you made the movie today, not much would be different. Except for air conditioning, all electronics would be seized. This would be in my top 5 favorites of all-time.

I have to agree with Matrixguy, this movie is great, just talking, but so interesting.

3 Rear Window
4 Seven Samurai

What an amazing epic samurai movie by Akira Kurosawa

A movie to great for that time

5 North By Northwest
6 Sunset Boulevard

This fantastic film is definitely deserving of being in the top 3. It really takes a look into the deep, dark visions and thoughts in the physchy. I thought it was just going to be a charming Hollywood film noir, well, placed in Hollywood. But it was the opposite. This movie isn't charming. It's cruel. Dark. Stomach curling. Eye swelling. Head scratching. Gah, this film has everything. It's such a classic.

7 Some Like It Hot
8 Ben-Hur

The first 11oscar winning movie a superb story

9 The Bridge on the River Kwai
10 The Ten Commandments

This should be at least in the top 3. It's a movies way ahead of its time.

The Contenders
11 Around the World in 80 Days
12 Sleeping Beauty

This is a great Disney movie.
I saw it with my sister

13 On the Waterfront

This isn't in the top 10?

14 The Robe
15 Paths of Glory
16 Cinderella

In my opinion, this is better than Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

17 Quo Vadis
18 Peter Pan
19 Ikiru
20 The Seventh Seal
21 Rebel Without a Cause
22 Lady and the Tramp
23 Alice In Wonderland
24 Carry on Sergeant
25 I'm All Right Jack
