Best Rock Songs of the 2000s

The Top Ten
1 Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

Any song from American Idiot could be in the top ten, but there really have been many good rock songs since 2000 examples like: Last Resort, numb, Chop Suey, the pretender, and prayer of the refugee make it hard to pick, but I chose BOBD because I saw Green Day live and they were insanely good!

This list does not have 21 guns. Like come on. And only like one Green Day song. Green can make the the top ten all there's. Green Day IS THE BEST.

If I become a president of a country I will make this song the national anthem.
This song really touched my heart.

2 Bring Me To Life - Evanescence

No other song can take its place, my favorite song of all time... It is so nicely sung... All credits goes to Evanescence I play it over and over again

A real masterpiece... Thanks evanescence to create such a perfect song...

Best song she sings so pretty and the backup singer is hardcore

3 The Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin

Too bad this is the only BB song on this list, Give Me A sign should be in the top ten. Additionally I don't think nu-metal songs count, so in the end, bring me to life, Chop Suey, last resort, etc should be qualified for this list

Awesome song! You have to listen to this... Also try to get your hands on Dance with the devil. This is one of the best rock groups ever.

This... This got me hooked to rock!
Loved it straightaway. Beautiful!

4 In the End - Linkin Park

My favourite band, album and its most catchy song. The perfect song to end a bad day!

Fake list...ain't no song popular than in the end, numb, what I have done, breaking the habit,

I grew up listening to it and probably the first rock song I ever listened

5 Chop Suey - System of a Down

Easily the best rock track, and song, of the decade - from the best rock album of arguably the 80's, 90's and 00's. Impeccable and actually improves as it goes on, which is pretty rare for modern music. The ending chorus is heartbreaking, soaring, scorching, and utterly empathetic, striking an elegiac tone while delivering a riveting conclusion.

1. Isn't this Metal?
2. I respect System of a Down a lot, they're very good in their style, which I just don't enjoy, and it probably deserves a stop in the top 10 (probably even 5) but seeing at 1 just kind of bothers me. When a song like Knights of Cydonia Exists seeing this at one just... Egh

The ending of this song is so angelic and graceful, but so raw and powerful at the same time. This is a song that cannot be topped. A will always be my favorite

6 The Pretender - Foo Fighters
7 Seven Nation Army - White Stripes

A classic rock song. Absolutely brilliant riff, groovy vocals, psuchedelic drumming, this song deserves number 1.

Should be number 1. The guitar tunes rock.

8 Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park

6 Lp songs in this list just adds to the bands' legacy. But Breaking the Habit is amazing live. The great lyrics and sound just shows the bands talent. Definitely led the band into their new sound.

Awesome lyrics. Its something you will keep on reciting long after you finished listening. Everything is just brilliant. There is no one to compete LP.

This is artistically better than chop suey and everyone knows it.

9 Animal I Have Become - Three Days Grace

Despite how overrated this song is it's more worth of at least 6th or 4th place. It's a strong song about drug addiction and in my opinion deserves to be a bit higher than 12.

It was a difficult decision between what I've done and animal I have become...
But, I chose this one because it felt like more personal and deep than the others... Brilliant song

Three Days Grace is a purely inspirational band who plays and sings about life. Amazing band, love Adam and Barry and everyone else :D This song really rocks. Give it a listen for sure, and some of their other songs!

10 Uprising - Muse

I think uprising is great, but certainly not their best. Try Stockholm Syndrome, The Handler, Citizen Erased, and Fury instead

I think that "Knights of Cydonia" should be number 1.

The Contenders
11 Last Resort - Papa Roach

It sounds so awesome. The lyrics mean something that many people can relate to and the background riff at the beginning is so great.

Cut my life into pieces, this is my...

Take this off of the list, please.

12 Headstrong - Trapt

It's a great song I love when he pauses then screams.

13 Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

The song was probably the closest thing to a really grand piece than most at the time. I read one comment that this was the modern Bohemian Rhapsody, I disagreed with that. It's not perfect but man it can take you places if you let it.

The drums in the end are simple, yet amazing. They give the song it's signature marching band feel. It really could be played by a marching band.

Just brilliant to listen to, start to finish. You feel every beat in line with you the whole length of the song.

14 How You Remind Me - Nickelback

Incredible breakthrough song from an incredible band. Summed up the 00s rock music perfectly.

This is one of the most amazing song of the 2000s, I wonder why is in 21th

15 Prayer of the Refugee - Rise Against

Wow only one rise against song in the top twenty? Where are songs like savior, injection, hero of war, swing life away, the good left undone, re-education through labor and even give it all. Additionally, animal I have become should replace in the end at #3, diary of Jane should not be the representative for breaking Benjamin in the top ten, it should be either breath or so cold. Uprising by muse should be higher, Dani California should be top 20 and I do agree that chop suey is deserving of its spot at #2

Awesome song. Everything about it is awesome. From the vocals to the beat and most suprisingly (though not for this band) the meaning. The beauty of this song lies not in the beat, the vocals (though they are still awesome) but the people they give in recognition. This really deserves to be at the number 1 spot.

16 It's My Life - Bon Jovi

This not only brought Bon Jovi a younger audience and a new decade of success, it also defined the 2000s decade.

I could say that rock is dead l. Bon Jovi is a rock genre pioneer at the 2000s. Now stupid electroic music are just a disgrace for something that called "music".

This song rocks! It's my third or fourth favorite song.

17 Snuff - Slipknot

This should not only top this list but every list there is about songs.

18 Toxicity - System of a Down
19 Mr. Brightside - The Killers

One of the best songs from a band that is STILL RELEVANT today. Almost every band higher than this song is nothing. The Killers has a unique sound that makes them differ from any band. Compare that to these bands (except for Bon Jovi). Listen to these bands and they sound alike. The Killers are so criminally underrated...

This is one of the first songs I learned to play on drums and is the first song I learned on bass. I still listen to it on a weekly basis.

How is how you're remind me by nickelback high then this masters piece? This song should be at number 1!

20 Tears Don't Fall - Bullet for My Valentine
21 No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age

Awesome band, especially with Dave Grohl as drums!

22 Give Me a Sign - Breaking Benjamin
23 Numb - Linkin Park

Even though I would vote for a Boulevard of Broken Dreams as nr.1, it is less of a modern rock sond than Numb is. Numb was the Linkin Parks' greatest hit and has reattracted masses to the rock music more than any other song on this list.

This is the best song of Linkin Park! I just can't believe that it is on the 31st position! It should be on the top! Linkin Park ROCKS!

Okay, okay, I think Linkin Park is bad. But even he is bad he has one good song. Numb.

24 What I've Done - Linkin Park

One of the Best Song of My Fave Rock Band Linkin Park. There are other beautiful Linkin Park songs than this like New Devide and In the End...
Best Band LP better than Metallica..!

25 Somewhere I Belong - Linkin Park

Definitely one of the best of 2000s.
