Best Self-Titled Rock Band Albums

These albums had the same name as the artist that made it, that simple.
The Top Ten
1 Metallica

No disrespect to A7X, I like them, but if it weren't for this album they would probably be stuck as suburban tattoo artists.

Lucretia Metallica is a rock band. What are you talking about

Too good to be compared

2 Avenged Sevenfold

With all due respect to Rage Against the Machine, this is the best. This has Afterlife, A Little Piece of Heaven, Almost Easy, Gunslinger, Critical Acclaim, Scream, and Dear God. RATM has Killing in the Name, Wake Up, and Bombtrack. If RATM had Bulls on Parade, then it would be better.

3 The Beatles (a.k.a. the White Album)

How is this not number 1? One of the most definitive and eclectic albums of all time, outranking every other eponymous album on Rolling Stone. Vote for this!

4 Rage Against the Machine
5 Black Sabbath Black Sabbath were a Heavy Metal band formed in Birmingham, England in 1968 by guitarist and songwriter Tony Iommi, singer John "Ozzy" Osbourne, bassist and main lyricist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward.

The band became mainstream after improving after their debut album got panned. In 1978, Osbourne was fired and replaced with former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Who went to release 2 albums before leaving in 1983, only for Osbourne to return in 1992. ...read more.

9 Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin was an English hard rock band formed in London in 1968 as the New Yardbirds. The group consisted of Robert Plant (Vocal), Jimmy Page (Guitar), John Paul Jones (Bass, Keyboard) and John Bonham (Drums) and was very much the child of Jimmy Page who even financed their first tour. He had tasted some previous success with The [original] Yardbirds and was friendly with some big names in rock. Page states it was Keith Moon of The Who that claimed the band could only go down, like a lead balloon -- thus prompting the iconic name of Led Zeppelin. The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition as one of the progenitors ...read more.

Even though it was mostly ripped off, it's a great debut. This one and their second album just feel magical to me. Also realize that every bluesman has like 5 Willie Dixon songs... just saying. It's still not an excuse, but I do think the chemistry on this album is really good. I do prefer Black Sabbath and The Doors though.

I can’t help that the original singer/songwriter never got much attention when they first performed their version of these songs. Zeppelin just did them better and impressed a huge mainstream audience. Several hits every decade are covers or samples of older songs, nobody hardly ever complains about that. Just listen to pop or hip hop, you hear it all the time.
