Best Songs From Nirvana's Nevermind

Nevermind is the second studio album by the American rock band Nirvana, released on September 24, 1991. Produced by Butch Vig, Nevermind was the group's first release on DGC Records. Frontman Kurt Cobain sought to make music outside the restrictive confines of the Seattle grunge scene, drawing influence from groups such as the Pixies and their use of song volume dynamics.

Despite low commercial expectations by the band and its record label, Nevermind became a surprise success in late 1991, largely due to the popularity of its first single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit". By January 1992, it had replaced Michael Jackson's album Dangerous at number one on the Billboard charts. The Recording Industry Association of America has certified the album Diamond (over 10 million copies shipped), and the album has sold over 30 million copies worldwide.[1][2] Nevermind was responsible for bringing alternative rock to a large mainstream audience, and critics subsequently regard it as one of the best rock albums of all time.
The Top Ten
1 Smells Like Teen Spirit

Eh don't get Me wrong This is a great song but kinda overplayed a tad and keep in mind I own everything related to nirvana so don't think I'm bashing them

This is a pretty unnecessary list. I mean nobody even really acknowledges it's existence.

One of the most influential songs of the 90s. Also has a great riff!

Best song ever. Just number 1,

2 Lithium

1. Lithium
2. Breed
3. In Bloom
4. Polly
5. Come As You Are
6. Drain You
7. Territorial Pissings
8. Smells Like Teen Spirit
9. Lounge Act
10. Something In The Way
11. On A Plain
12. Stay Away
13. Endless, Nameless

Teen spirit is overrated. This is the best song on the album along with endless nameless

The distortion in the chorus drives me crazy

Real hard to rank. But lithium from me

3 Come as You Are

This song is not only the best from the album, but their best song in general. It's more dark and less cheesy than Smells Like Teen Spirit.

1. Come as You Are
2. Smells Like a Teen Spirit
3. Lihtium
4. Breed
5. Polly
6. Loungue Act
7. In Bloom
8. Territorial Pissings
9. Stay Away
10. Something in the Way
11. Drain You
12. On a Plain
13. Endless, Nameless

Most traumatic Nirvana's song, the one that actually brings me a lot of powerful emotions.

4 In Bloom

First it deserves to be first, second Smells Like Teen Spirit deserves to be less overrated, because it's a beautiful song, but not the best one!

I love this song. It definitely is my favorite out of Nirvana. Along with all apologies and come as you are.

Just simply the best song on here, but Territorial Pissings is a close second

Much better than Smells like teen spirit.

5 Drain You

Has a lot of raw emotion and a great riff. Sort of like a less edgy Smells Like Teen Spirit, and in my opinion the best song on Nevermind.

This song is amazing

I think in tero and bleach are better than nevermind but still good

Teen spirit is crap next to this one

Drain You > Smells Like Teen Spirit

6 Something in the Way

Honestly the best song of the album, if not the best song from their entire discography. It sounds very dark and haunting and it describes Kurt perfectly. My absolute favourite.

Beauty is hard to find sometimes. But we can definitely find it in this song...

RIP Kurt Cobain
1967-1994

Haunting yet beautiful puts me in a trance every time I hear it.

7 Breed

Arguably The Most Underrated Nirvana Song Breed Has The Best Chorus And Best Live Presence

This song has the best solo in history it's so cool also this was my first nirvana song surprisingly not slts.

This song contains the best solo in the world also this was my first nirvana song

This song and on a plain are my favorites from this record

8 Territorial Pissings

Territorial Pissings is so upbeat and Dave Grohl's drumming is dynamic. Nevermind is one of the only albums where every song was worth buying the album. I agree with this list except Something In The Way I think is too high, and On A Plain and Territorial Pissings are too low. There isn't a single "bad" song on the album though!

This song is the musical equivalent of speed and adrenaline mixed together

Territorial pissings is such a good upbeat punk song

This and Stay Away define kurt's vocals at their best

9 Lounge Act

Great bass, great guitar, great melody, great drums, easily best song on my favorite album of all time, an underrated masterpiece

Why is this not number one is one of Nirvana's best songs it kicks ass

Why is this the lowest it's the best one unlike smells like teen spirit where all the ‘edgy’ kids Listen to in my opinion teen spirit is overrated and only true nirvana fans will know that this is a fair competitor

So underrated, it's sad.

10 Polly

It's clever, has a great riff, and is really good in general. It should have been the song that everyone obsessed about instead of its more "catchy" opponents.

Honestly, I think In Utero is a way better album, but Polly here made me think that is belonged in In Utero due to the lyrics in the song being very clever.

The Contenders
11 On a Plain

1. On A Plain
2. Lithium
3. Territorial Pissings
4. Smells Like Teen Spirit
5. In Bloom
6. Drain You
7. Polly
8. Come as you Are
9. Stay Away
10. Something in the Way
11. Breed
12. Lounge Act
13. Endless, Nameless

I'll start this off without any words

Incredibly underrated

So catchy its absurd

12 Stay Away

Stay away is the rawest song on the album. You can feel the frustration and emotion, something you can't do with any other song, besides breed. Stay away and on a plain are the two best songs on nevermind

What this song is so good. Should be 5 after smells like teen spirit, something in the way, in bloom, come as you are

13 Endless, Nameless

Ok You Clearly don't know ANYTHING about Death Metal death metal is morbid angel nirvana is grunge the only reason this song give a slight metal vibe is because of kurts genuine Frustration trying to make lithium

For some weird reason, this is my favorite songs from Nevermind. I don't get it either.

One of the worst songs ever!

Whatever, I like it

14 Aneurysm

Not actually on Nevermind but I think right now it's my favorite Nirvana song so I'm voting for it just for that.

15 About a Girl
