Best Southern Rappers

The Top Ten
1 Andre 3000 André Lauren Benjamin, known by his stage name André 3000 is an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, and is most known as one half of the hip-hop duo OutKast. Despite never actually releasing an official solo studio album, 3000 has built up a strong following online among hip hop listeners and often ranks very high on hip hop lists.

Yeah, Andre is amazing

2 Scarface Brad Terrence Jordan, better known by his stage name Scarface, is an American rapper, music producer, and author.

How is Face not #1!? He was in the Geto Boys, which essentially created southern rap, and his storytelling techniques are incredible. Scarface is easily my #1 favorite rapper, or even musician/vocalist, of all time. Even more impressive, I'm 17 and white and I know him.

Can be considered the greatest rapper of all time, let alone best southern rapper

3 T.I. Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., better known by his stage names T.I. and Tip, is an American hip hop recording artist and actor born on September 25, 1980 in Atlanta, GA.

He has fallen off hard in these last few years but his old stuff is timeless, and the way he was able to tell a story and put words together was unlike anyone else. I'm Serious, Trap Muzik and Urban Legend were all great albums. Paper Trail, Trouble Man and Paperwork were decent too.

13? He's a better rapper than Andre 3000.

4 Lil Boosie Torrence Hatch, born November 14, 1982, is an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He released his first independent album 'Youngest of the Camp' in 2000, followed by "For My Thugs" in 2002. He released two collaboration albums with Webbie, Ghetto Stories in 2003 and Gangsta Musik in 2004. In ...read more.

He's not the most lyrical rapper out there, but his old stuff was classic. Bad Azz, For My Thugs, and Bad Azz Mixtape Vol. 2 all classics. He's definitely past his prime and has had sadly fallen from grace over the years but that doesn't take away from how good he was during the 2000's. Some people compare him to Gucci Mane, but if you really listen to Boosie's older music you'll see that they are nothing alike.

5 Bun B Bernard Freeman, known by his stage name Bun B, is an American rapper and was one half of the southern rap duo UGK.

The only great rapper in UGK

6 Big Boi

He is decent, but not the best, and he is very inconsistent.

7 Ace Hood Antoine McColister, better known by his stage name Ace Hood, is an American rapper. He was born in Port St. Lucie, Florida and raised in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Hell yeah...I'm glad I got him higher than Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne.

This man is a beast.

8 Rittz Jonathan McCollum, better known by his stage name Rittz, is an American rapper from Gwinnett County, Georgia.

The white boy can definitely spit!

The man is a beast

9 Killer Mike Michael Render, better known by his stage name Killer Mike, is an American hip hop recording artist, actor and activist from Atlanta, Georgia.

Killer Mike is one of those rappers that you like more and more as you listen to him.

One of the greatest rappers of all time. Him and El-P's chemistry in RTJ is really some of the best in all of music(Not just in Rap).

Get this man to number 1. Run The Jewels is great.

10 K-Rino Eric Kaiser (born 9 September 1970), better known by his stage name K-Rino, is an American rapper and record producer from Houston, Texas. He is a pioneer of the Southern hip hop scene, and has been rapping since 1983. K-Rino's first release was the single "rocking It" with his group Real Chill in 1986, and he founded the South Park Coalition collective that same year. K-Rino has spent his entire career as an independent artist, and has released all of his albums since 2004 on his label Black Book International.

Kinda reminds me of Immortal Technique with his song Grand Deception.

The best lyricist to come out of the south

The Contenders
11 Trick Daddy

A Florida legend, Rick Ross and Plies and all of these suckas still can't compare to the original Florida boy

So many legends on this list, and then there's ski mask...

12 Eightball

8Ball and MJG were better than UGK, their I said it! Unlike UGK both rappers were good, but 8Ball was better than MJG but MJG was still good too, unlike Pimp C in UGK who sucked on the mic. OutKast were good at first but then they became weird and it's a stretch too even call what they were making southern rap, 8Ball & MJG always stayed true to their audience and didn't sell out like OutKast.

13 Ski Mask the Slump God Stokeley Clevon Goulbourne, born April 18, 1996, is an American rapper and songwriter from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is well known for his goofy and sometimes nonsensical lyrics and songs and his fast flows, as well as for collaborating with the late XXXTentacion.

How is he trash, ski mask I's a cool artist who is always paying homage

He is trash, why is he even here?

14 Big Mike Michael Barnett, better known by his stage name Big Mike, is an American rapper from Houston, Texas. He was originally a member of the rap duo Convicts with Houston-based rapper Mr. 3-2. This album would be the first of many releases Mike would put out on Rap-A-Lot Records.

How the hell is Ski Mask the Trash God higher than this guy?

Underrated and underappreciated, he should be more known

15 Haystak
16 Lil Wyte Patrick Lanshaw, better known by his stage name Lil Wyte, is an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee.

How the hell is this Memphian under such trash like ski mask the trash god?

The only cracker good enough to be down with the 6!

The best southern cracker rapper of all time!

The best southern white rapper ever

17 Big Mello Curtis Donnell Davis, better known by his stage name Big Mello, was an American rapper from Houston, Texas.

Why is Andre 3000 so high on the list? The dude hasn't even released a solo album and Big Mello is way underrated! R.I.P.

Big Mello dope as hell! R.I.P.

18 Phonte Phonte Lyshod Coleman, better known as Phonte, is an American rapper. He is known as one of the most technically gifted lyricists from the south, and is one third of the North Carolina hip hop trio Little Brother, as well as one-half of the duo The Foreign Exchange. In addition to his contributions to Little Brother and The Foreign Exchange, he has also released two critically acclaimed solo albums, Charity Starts At Home in 2011 and No News Is Good News in 2018.

Southern lyricist with a chill east coast vibe, very lyrical and unlike a lot of southern rap dominating the mainstream during the 2000's.

19 B.o.B Bobby Ray Simmons, Jr., better known by his stage name B.o.B, is an American recording artist and music producer from Decatur, Georgia.

Like Big K.R.I.T., he is very inconsistent, but when he actually tries and makes real rap music he is great. Too bad he sold out.

20 Z-Ro Joseph Wayne McVey IV, better known by his stage names Z-Ro and The Mo City Don, is an American rapper from Houston, Texas.

Why is Andre 3000 higher? Andre hasn't even released an actual studio album, while this legendary rapper has an entire discography full of classic songs!

He's better than Scarface, in my humble opinion.

21 Denzel Curry Denzel Rae Don Curry (born February 16, 1995) is an American rapper and songwriter from Miami Gardens, Florida. He released his debut full-length album, titled Nostalgic 64 on September 3, 2013. His second full-length album, titled Imperial, was released on March 9, 2016. His third album, Ta13oo, came out in 2018, and his next album, ZUU came less than a year later.
22 Webbie Webster Gradney, Jr., born September 6, 1985, is an American rapper and actor from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He's been signed to the independent Trill Entertainment label since 2003. Before releasing his first solo album Savage Life in 2005, he would release two collaboration albums with Lil Boosie, Ghetto Stories and Gangsta Muzik. In 2008, Webbie would release his second album, Savage Life 2, which contained the single Independent, his most successful single commercially to date. Webbie would continue his Savage Life series, so far releasing 5 installments to date.

When he actually tries he is pretty good, but he has gotten lazy over the years. In his prime he was a better lyricist than Boosie though.

23 T-Rock T-Rock is an underground rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. He started out his career as part of the Memphis rap label Hypnotize Minds, under DJ Paul and Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia. T-Rock and the Three 6 would eventually go their separate ways, and Rock would go on to diss Paul and Juicy in many songs for bad pay and lack of promotion. Though he is from Atlanta, his style has always been more similar to Memphis rap, and he continues to work primarily with Memphis rappers such as C-Rock, Lord Infamous and Kingpin Skinny Pimp. He is also the founder of his own independent label Rock Solid Mafia, where he has signed other underground rappers.

Probably one of the greatest lyricists from the south, and one of the most complex flows. His subject matter brings him down a bit though.

24 Ludacris Christopher Brian "Chris" Bridges, better known by his stage name Ludacris, is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and actor.

He is decent, but his subject matter is what holds him back. You can only rap about the same thing in so many different ways before it gets old. His album intros are always great, but he wastes most of his talent on typical club/sex songs. When people call him one of the goats, I kind of laugh. It's not that he isn't skilled enough, it's just that he hasn't earned that title yet and doesn't use his skill to it's full potential in my opinion.

He is the real king of the South!

25 Pimp C

Not a very good rapper on the mic but rest in piece anyway
