Top 10 Television Series with the Best Theme Songs

The Top Ten
1 The X-Files This iconic theme song, composed by Mark Snow, features a memorable, eerie synthesized melody with a whistling tone that captures the show's mysterious and paranormal themes.

This used to scare me so much when I was little. When I was a kid, my parents would watch The X-Files every night, and it scared me so much that until I fell asleep, I was always watching the door, expecting a monster or an alien to come around the corner. Now that I'm older, it doesn't creep me out as much. I actually like this eerie tune now.

This theme fits the series so well. It's simple, yet it still has that creepy vibe that The X-Files is known for. It's the best, and one of the most iconic, theme songs of all time.

2 Friends "I'll Be There for You" by The Rembrandts is the upbeat, rock-infused theme song for "Friends," characterized by its catchy guitar riff and joyful lyrics about friendship and support.

I absolutely love this series. Its theme song always gets me up, dancing, and singing along. The official video is hilarious. I agree with some of the other comments. The Big Bang Theory should be in the top ten because it's amazing and so catchy.

I'm not sure why the X-Files is on this list, given that the song doesn't even have lyrics. Regardless, I voted for Friends, although The Big Bang Theory is a very close second.

Without a doubt, I'll Be There for You stands at number one for me. It's the best song and encapsulates the show's concept, which is about friendship. I love both the show and the song.

3 The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Performed by Will Smith, this theme song is a rap narrative that humorously describes the show's protagonist's journey from Philadelphia to the affluent neighborhood of Bel-Air, Los Angeles.

Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right here, I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air. My days, chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool, and all shooting some b-ball outside of the school. Then a couple of guys, they were up to no good, started making trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared. She said, You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.

How is this not number 1? I have never met a person who couldn't sing this all the way through! And years later, it's still so popular! I think Will Smith's appearance on the Graham Norton show proved that!

EVERYBODY! "In West Philadelphia born and raised..."

4 Pokemon The original theme song, "Gotta Catch 'Em All," is known for its energetic and inspiring tune, encouraging listeners to strive to be the best and capture all Pokemon.

It's amazing how the original Pokemon theme song has managed to withstand the test of time, despite all of the newer theme songs that Pokemon has created. Although I knew a bit about it, I only recently became a Pokemon fan. Yet, I somehow knew the lyrics by heart and I even know almost all of the Pokemon theme songs! Maybe it's just the company's composers, but either way, the original theme is one of the best out there. Even in other countries where the lyrics, language, and tune are different, it's still perfect!

5 Cheers "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" by Gary Portnoy is a warm, inviting theme song that reflects the friendly, communal atmosphere of the show's central bar.

Love at first sight - that describes the song. It's just like being at home, around people who love you, where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came.

This has to be number one. I've never really watched Cheers, but I still know the theme song. It is, without a doubt, the best theme song there is.

I relate to this song. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came.

6 The Simpsons Composed by Danny Elfman, this theme song is characterized by a whimsical, orchestral sound that complements the show's satirical and animated nature.

Very memorable theme song. The chorus singing in the beginning with the logo appearing in the clouds, Bart spending detention with a chalkboard, Homer having a nuclear rod stuck to his back, Marge accidentally paying for Maggie, Lisa disrupting class with her saxophone. The family rushing toward the couch for a gag every episode - what's not to love about it?

What I really like about The Simpsons is how they are always changing it up with different couch gags. Sure, some are reused, but it's still very unique.

7 Gravity Falls Composed by Brad Breeck, this theme song features a mysterious and quirky melody, fitting for the show's theme of supernatural adventures in a small town.

How is this #99? It's a great and awesome theme song. It's creepy yet catchy. I love the show and the theme song. Gravity Falls!

I know this is weird, but 20% of the reason why I watch this show is its song.

I like how it reminds me of the theme song on Andy Griffith.

8 Hawaii Five-O The theme song, composed by Morton Stevens, is an iconic, upbeat instrumental piece with a strong brass section, reflecting the action-packed and tropical setting of the series.

Hell yeah, Hawaii Five-O is the best show ever! It is the best show that has ever been made and will ever be made! I absolutely love it. The team did a fantastic job making it! I don't care what other people say about it. It's the best! I have never missed an episode. It has the best state, people, cars - I could go on and on. I don't care what people think. You all do a great job, and there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it! Best song ever too!

No one can ever get this out of their head. I don't use this term very often, but this song is absolutely epic.

9 Malcolm in the Middle "Boss of Me" by They Might Be Giants, is an alternative rock song that captures the show's rebellious and unconventional spirit, with lyrics emphasizing independence and self-identity.

For those of you wondering what movies and TV shows are playing in the opening, I've listed them all in particular order: One Million Years B.C., Nazca, Clash of the Titans, Creature from the Haunted Sea, Thrill Seekers, WCW Mayhem, Out of the Unknown, The Brain from Planet Arous, and the 1982 North American Championships in Las Vegas.

I love They Might Be Giants! This is the perfect theme song for such a crazy and hilarious show. I loved this show when I was younger, and now I watch it all the time on Teen Nick.

10 Happy Days "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets originally served as the theme song, later replaced by "Happy Days" by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox, both reflecting the show's 1950s setting and cheerful tone.

How is Happy Days not number 1? Happy Days beats The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air by a long shot.

The Contenders
11 M*A*S*H "Suicide Is Painless" is the theme song for MAS*H, featuring a soft, melancholic melody that contrasts with the show's often humorous take on the grim realities of war.

This song is wonderful, not to mention addictive! It also captures the essence of the show unlike most themes.

"Suicide is painless, it brings on many changes, and I can take or leave it if I please."

12 Gilligan's Island This theme song, often referred to as "The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle," is a catchy, story-telling tune that humorously summarizes the show's premise and introduces its characters.

The poetic lyrics and catchy tune make you feel like you want to be stranded on a desert isle with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the Professor and Mary Ann.

This seriously needs to be higher up. One of the catchiest (and most popular) TV series themes ever, and it didn't even make the top 25? Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...

It was between this song and the Cheers theme, but I chose this one. It tells such a story and is so catchy. It's the song I think of when I think of TV themes.

13 SpongeBob SquarePants This theme song is a catchy, nautical-themed tune that introduces the main character and his undersea world, inviting viewers to the fun and quirky setting of Bikini Bottom.

This show and VeggieTales are without a doubt two of my favorite cartoons with the best theme songs!

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

The most famous theme song ever! I think I'll make a list about it.

14 The Andy Griffith Show Composed by Earle Hagen, the whistled theme song, known as "The Fishin' Hole," evokes a sense of simplicity and nostalgia, fitting the show's small-town, wholesome atmosphere.

It's a very catchy tune, and not in a bad way. It's a nice and simple theme that makes you feel good.

15 Family Guy Composed by Walter Murphy and Seth MacFarlane, the theme song is a lively, big band-style tune with humorous lyrics that satirize traditional television themes.

Lois: It seems today that all you see is violence in movies and sex on TV.
Peter: But where are those good old-fashioned values...
Chorus: On which we used to rely! Lucky there's a Family Guy, lucky there's a man who positively can do all the things that make us,
Stewie: Laugh and cry!
Chorus: He's our family guy!

I LOVE this show. I watch it every night on Cartoon Network, and I have the theme song memorized. I even know how to play it on my instrument for Jazz Band.

Lucky there's a Family Guy! Lucky there's a man who positively can do all the things that make us laugh and cry!

16 DuckTales The DuckTales theme song is an upbeat and catchy tune that encapsulates the adventurous spirit of the show, inviting viewers to join in the exciting escapades of Scrooge McDuck and his nephews.

How could the world's catchiest theme song ever be so low on the list? This song has been stuck in people's heads since the '80s.

This song will get stuck in your head for days after you hear it. You have a problem if you don't sing "DuckTales Woo-oo" along with the song.

Bloody hell, the most catchy song is only 101?

17 Growing Pains "As Long As We Got Each Other," performed by B.J. Thomas and Jennifer Warnes, is the theme song for "Growing Pains," characterized by its warm and sentimental melody, reflecting the show's focus on family and relationships.
18 Game of Thrones Composed by Ramin Djawadi, the theme song features a powerful, orchestral melody that captures the epic scope and medieval fantasy setting of the series.

How is this not in the top 10? Seriously. I listen to this theme song non-stop. It's stuck in my brain. Every time Game of Thrones comes on, I hum along, unlike most people who just skip it. The theme song perfectly fits the medieval theme of the show, and the show itself is amazing. Please vote this amazing piece of music up!

Come on, 17? This is a masterpiece that 100% matches the series. When you listen to the cello part and think about the power struggles, the sadness and meaninglessness of the houses, and the lust for power, it's just brilliant. It should be in the top 5.

19 King of the Hill Composed by The Refreshments, the theme song for "King of the Hill" is an instrumental country-rock piece that captures the show's Texan setting and the everyday life of its characters.

Sometimes when my friends and I got bored at recess, we would stand around saying "yep" and take sips out of our water bottles.

Hank and company must have livers stronger than the Hulk.

20 The Loud House The theme song for "The Loud House" is a catchy and fast-paced rock tune that introduces the chaotic and fun-filled life of the main character, Lincoln Loud, and his ten sisters.

My top 3 are The Loud House, The Simpsons, and Dreamer by Jenn Grant in Canada's series Heartland. They're awesome theme tunes. Gravity Falls and Futurama are fourth and fifth, though.

21 Full House "Everywhere You Look" by Jesse Frederick is a light-hearted and optimistic theme song that reflects the show's themes of family, love, and support in the midst of life's challenges.

Okay, I wish my show had this theme song.

22 The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy The theme song for this show is a quirky and slightly eerie tune that sets the tone for the show's blend of dark humor and supernatural adventures.
23 Attack On Titan "Guren no Yumiya" by Linked Horizon is the first opening theme for Attack On Titan, known for its intense and dramatic composition that captures the show's dark, action-packed narrative.

I got hooked on this show from the theme song alone. That's got to count for something.

24 Teen Titans The theme song for "Teen Titans" is a lively and energetic pop-rock tune performed by Puffy AmiYumi, reflecting the show's dynamic and youthful spirit.

How can this be at 74!? It is one of the best openings I have seen on TV!

25 Sanford and Son This theme song, known as "The Streetbeater," composed by Quincy Jones, is a funky and rhythmic instrumental tune that captures the essence of the show's urban setting and comedic tone.

If you ever play this song loudly on good speakers, it rocks.
