Top 10 Best Things to Do On Christmas Eve

The Top Ten
1 Spend Time With Loved Ones

I like this better because some people do get carried away and think it is all about the toys and presents and it's not it is about spending love, time, and joy with your family and friends.

It'll be a very special day and just wait until you can spend time with everyone else you love a lot. With your family cooking, and everything, it'll be a special time together if you do that with your family.

Spending time together is what Christmas is all about.Of course we all love gifts and presents but the true meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of Christ with our family and friends.

2 Watch a Christmas TV Show or Movie

I always watch a movie on Christmas Eve, as there are plenty of Christmas movies on to suit everyone. Watching a Christmas Movie gets you really excited and I find it helps me sleep. Most Christmas movies can be watched by the whole family.

I don't know if this counts as a Christmas T.V. show or movie but on Christmas Eve night I go and watch tsn year in review. Tsn is espn in Canada. Also opening one present on Christmas Eve is good but there is no use for voting for it because its at the top spot. Opening one gift is good because Christmas isn't about getting, you know.

My family watches a different movie every year! The Grinch That Stole Christmas, Elf, and even Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...

3 Give Gifts to Your Loved Ones

I like to make gifts for my parents instead of buying stuff.

It's fun to do it and it will make them feel loved..

It's better to give gifts than receive gifts, although we all love getting gifts. It's better to give someone else them.

4 Have Christmas Dinner

We always go out for mexican food this tradition gives you a chance to spend time with loved ones, eat a delicious meal, and feel even more excited for christmas

For my family, Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner are the two best dinners of the year.

5 Listen to Christmas Music

Christmas music rocks, just steer clear of the thousands of low-quality "All I Want For Christmas Is You" covers, and also stay away from Justin Bieber's christmas carols.

I love listening to Christmas music! Gets you right in the spirit! And also helps to release all of that excitement!

I will listen to Alexa's playlist for holiday favorites for an hour, playing dolls with my younger sister.

6 Remember to Put Christ In Christmas

Christmas is not about supporting retailers. It's all about welcoming Our Lord Jesus Christ into our hearts, minds, and into our homes. Today, 25 December, we all come together from far and wide to celebrate Christ-mass. Give some time over to quiet reflection if you are not of a Christian faith. If you do embrace Our Lord into your family lives, I do recommend visiting a Catholic church in your local village, town, or city church. Everyone is welcome. Hear the carols and listen to the Mass as the congregation celebrates this important festival. If you are infirm and cannot get out, I think one of the TV channels is televising a Mass. Happy Birthday, Jesus. Come into everyone's lives today.

Celebrating Christmas is about celebrating the birth of a baby named Jesus who died to save us from our sins. If you are not familiar with Jesus, reach out to him. Try to say a prayer. It doesn't have to be anything special, but let it come from your heart. Ask for him to show you who he is and why God sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, to save you by dying on the cross. Matthew 7:7 says, "Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

Don't let materialized Christmas take your attention from the actual reason for Christmas. Matthew 21:22 tells us, "And whatever you ask for in prayer, you will receive if you have faith." You will find that a Christmas without "Christ" no longer becomes Christmas. May the greatest gift this holiday be this message.

7 Track Santa

I always love to track Santa every year even though he doesn't visit me anymore. I think it keeps you busy during the day. On Google Santa Tracker you can also play games all December long, and on NORAD Tracker you can learn things about Santa and even other countries' Christmas traditions! I recommend Santa trackers.

I track Santa every Christmas Eve and I'm surprised this is on the list because I didn't think very many people do.

Fun for anyone. Try Norad or Google Santa Tracker- both great programs for tracking Santa as he flies around the world.

8 Open One Gift

Opening presents can get you into the spirit of Christmas! Just remember your excitement on Christmas Day when you see that stocking full of presents. Also, the enjoyment and rebellious feeling of opening a present early. That alone can get you excited, even if the present you open is, well, not so good. If you still don't agree with opening a present on Christmas Eve, then just think, you're getting a present early! Always a good excuse.

Instead of opening gifts on Christmas Eve, we make up a Christmas Eve box so the kids can open it. We put hot chocolate, marshmallows, popcorn, a movie, a new mug, a new Christmas book, and new pajamas and then we sit and watch all the movies everyone got in their boxes! It's really fun and it saves having to open actual gifts.

I love to do this on Christmas Eve because if you have kids like me (little ones), this usually holds them over until Christmas morning. Pick a small gift that is fun but not a huge time-consuming gift. Pick wisely! Happy Holidays!

9 Drive or Walk Around Looking at Christmas Lights

I always have a blast doing that with my friends or family! Sometimes I like to see the lights that go all out and beautiful. I usually do this every year with my family for some good memories that I can remember my whole life! I like to take pictures so I could show my kids or friends when I grow up and tell them the story all about it!

I love doing this. One year, my mom and I even saw a deer while we were driving around looking at lights. This is a great thing to do with your parents or your kids because it's magical to see everyone's lights, especially the people who go overboard with their lights.

Where I live, the whole courthouse is lit up, and tons of trees around it are covered in hundreds of lights! Also, my city sets up something called the Valley of Lights you can drive through, and they have a Christmas Wonderland Light Attraction walk through!

10 Bake Cookies

This is a tradition in our family. This is because we always bring over TONS of cookies to our grandmothers house, and it will be a tradition that never ends!

Every year we bake cookies they make the whole house smell so good!

I love to bake Christmas cookies with my family. When I'm done, I set them out for Santa to take.

11 Go to Church

I agree! People should spend less time fooling around and actually do what they like. If church is your thing, great. It may not be anyone else's, but I do believe in doing what you love, especially during the Christmas season. So getting out there is the best thing for you since the Brady Bunch.

For me, going to church on Christmas Eve at about 7:00 is a great tradition in our family. It's so nice to go and see the church decorated and to sing Christmas carols with the church. Christmas Eve always ends up being so boring during the day, so going to church is something I look forward to.

Yes! Super important. Christmas is about Jesus, so going to Church is a very good idea. Besides, the Word of God can be very inspirational on the night before Christmas and is a great reminder to give thanks.

12 Leave Sweets Out for Santa

I generally leave out brandy, cookies and carrots for santa and his reindeer. I put them by the fire near the Christmas tree for when he comes down the chimney. Each year I leave a variation- sometimes milk or beer with the brandy.

Leave out some milk and cookies, or one year I left out some leftover sausages. Santa will love them. I also have loads of pleasant memories of leaving out snacks for Santa.

My family always puts out milk and sugar cookies. But, you can't forget the reindeer food (usually the kids make that at school for fun).

13 Sing Christmas Carols

I sing all day! On Christmas of course, in my mind I'd be singing songs like Jingle Bells and 12 Days of Christmas.

I like to do that at home, but singing at strangers doors I'm not so sure...

I like to sing on an eve. I love to sing carols. I have never tried but still, when I see a video of girls singing Christmas carols, I think I can also do it this Christmas. You can also try.

14 Go Out On a Drive to See Christmas Lights

I don't do this but I will in the future! Very beautiful and fun!

I have never done this but everyone says I should so I will try it this Christmas

Great idea it makes you really excited for the big man to come down the chimney

15 Watch Movies

Christmas movies are always fun and awesome! Unless it's TMNT Christmas, The Christmas Tree, or Rapsitte Street Kids: Believe In Santa, because no human eyes should ever bear witness to those movies again.

On Christmas Eve, I'm going to watch Shrek The Halls a load of times and see if Netflix tweets about it. Shrek is love, Shrek is life.

Every year on Christmas Day, my family always watches a Disney movie. This year, Dumbo. Last year, we had to watch Frozen. We watch Home Alone too.

16 Drink Hot Chocolate

It's just good. I drink Hot chocolate throughout the year, too.

Marshmallows and whipped cream, and that's when we are having a party.

17 Make Cookies

I love making cookies with my family and have a good laugh while we're making them. And when there are leftovers, we like to eat the leftover cookie dough! It's always great to spend time with your family!

Yes! My daughter and I are starting new traditions and this was on the top, to make cookies on Christmas Eve eve and Christmas Eve too! Then we'll give them to the neighbors with some candy canes. Love this.

Me and my kids (8 years and 6 years) make cookies what seems like all day on Christmas Eve. We make 8 kinds and homemade fudge every year!

18 Scream "Happy Birthday Louis Tomlinson!"

I absolutely love Louis Tomlinson as well I, m so proud to be a One Direction Superfan, Louis Tomlinson if you're reading this message I am writing to you please reply back to me within 4 days.

While Christmas Eve is not all about Lou, it is his birthday and we need to respect that. He would be very excited just like everyone else on their birthday.
Happy Birthday BooBear

And yes I am a directioner
Love One Direction people

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUIS!
I absolutely love him. Even though we need to stay in the Christmas spirit, Louis deserves a proper birthday, no matter how close it is to a huge holiday!

19 Make a Gingerbread House
20 Go to Bed Early

You always have to go to bed early on Christmas Eve - it always makes Christmas Morning seem to come quicker!

21 Turn On Your Christmas Lights
22 Open a New Pair of PJs and Go to Bed in Them

Every year, my Mum gets everyone new pajamas and bedding sets. After having a bubble bath and drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream, we get into bed with our new bedding and pajamas. Mum's excuse for getting these year after year... "You've got to look nice and clean for Santa."
Happy Christmas Everyone and Happy New Year.

That is one of our Christmas traditions and it is super fun.

My parents do this every year and give me, my sister, and brother new pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve

23 Eat Finger Food

Christmas Eve is the only day of the year that I let my children eat chips, dip, candy, cookies, and chocolate to their heart's content. To them, Christmas Eve is a very special smorgasbord.

Yeah! A great thing to do on Xmas Eve!

24 Snuggle Up by the Fire With Cozy Slippers and a Blanket

Yes indeed, totally agree, chill out before the hectic day ahead. Have a snuggle with the hubby whilst the kids are in bed getting excited about Christmas.

25 Run Around Being Excited

I thought I was the weird one just running around waiting for the next day on Christmas Eve. Now I know that I am not the only one.
