Best Breath of Fire Characters (GBA/SNES)

The Top Ten
1 Karn

Karn may be weak when he first joins the party, but when you find the fusion spells, he's practically a killing machine, capable of dealing more damage than everyone else in the party. Also it makes him immune to status ailments. Sometimes I get Slams of 999 with him in Puka or Shin forms. And he's capable of lockpicking plus disabling chest traps. So useful!

2 Ryu

The main character available right from the beginning. Consistently strong and durable. His dragon forms require combat tests to acquire, but they are powerful and immune to status ailments.

3 Bleu

The "black mage" of the game, she has all offensive spells, and levels up very fast! So you'll be getting lots of offensive magic to use. Main drawback is that you got to keep her AP up and that her physical power is very weak.

4 Nina

The main healer. Her spells are useful when you need HP, attack/defensive power, or to remove ailments. Thus, Nina's essential to the party. Like Bleu, keep her AP up. Her main attack power isn't really that good, but it gets moderately better near the end game.

5 Bo

He has offensive physical power and magic. Very good character in the early game until you get Karn's fusion spells, and then I don't think he has much use then. Oh yeah, he can walk through dense forest as well and hunt animals.

6 Gobi
7 Mogu
8 Ox

The brute. High offense and defense but obviously slow. Didn't use him much but he was cool. Oh yeah, and he also has two healing spells that can be a backup to Nina's magic. Too bad he levels very slowly and afterwards I mostly used him as a Karn fusion or to break walls in the field.
