Top Ten Countries Who Haven't Won the FIFA World Cup

All of these countries are brilliant at the beautiful game, but none of them have ever taken home the best trophy available!
The Top Ten
1 Netherlands

Oh my God, if someone hadn't threatened to kill Cruyff and his family, the 1978 World Cup would be ours! If we had received a penalty after Puyol's brutal tackle, as we should have, we might have won that too. Lastly, if Messi's goal had been ruled offside as it should have been, we could have won our third in 2022!

If they had VAR in 2010, we would have won. That was a red card on Puyol taking down Robben. Additionally, the goal they scored should never have happened because they awarded Spain a goal kick when it should have been a corner kick.

The De Jong incident was an honest mistake by both players, but it looked way worse on camera than it actually was.

2 Portugal

With players like C. Ronaldo, Luis Figo, and Eusebio, I was incredibly surprised when I heard they have never won a World Cup. Honestly, I feel bad because the players perform much better for their clubs. They just do not have good chemistry on their national team.

Champions of Europe. Always producing excellent players. They reached the semifinals before.

Portugal could have had a deep run at some point, especially with Ronaldo.

3 Hungary
4 Belgium

Belgium should be ranked higher than Mexico. Mexico has been consistently solid but never looked like legitimate threats. Belgium came close to winning in 2018 and has been one of the best teams in the world over the past decade.

Since 2014, they have come an inch short every time, losing by one goal to the eventual winners or finalists of several tournaments. They deserved much more than what they got.

Belgium has one of today's finest international teams and has finished in the top four numerous times.

5 Mexico

There was once a time when Mexico was better than the USA. However, now they are on par.

Mexico was and still is better than the United States.

I believe in you, Mexico! Try to win a FIFA World Cup with the help of goalkeeper "Memo" Ochoa.

6 Sweden Sweden, officially the Kingdom of Sweden, is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe.

It borders Norway to the west and Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest by a bridge-tunnel across the Öresund. At 450,295 square kilometers (173,860 sq mi), Sweden is the third-largest... read more

Third place in 1994, finalists in 1958, and now they have Zlatan.

Historically one of the best national teams and still a good team.

7 Bulgaria
8 Croatia

Croatia has reached the podium three times in just seven World Cups. They have some of the best midfielders and currently have a bright future with players like Gvardiol and Sucic.

Being Croatian, I expected a victory over France and fewer referee mistakes.

9 Poland

They have great players like Lewandowski and Szczęsny. Honestly, they should have won by now.

10 United States

It's still kind of crazy that if the USA made a miracle run to the final four in Russia 2018, it wouldn't be their first trip to the semifinals.

They finished third in the first ever FIFA World Cup. That is, however, their highest all-time finish.

The Contenders
11 Czechoslovakia The Czech Republic, also called Czechia is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Historically known as Bohemia, it is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the southeast. The Czech Republic has a hilly landscape that covers an area of 78,871... read more

No longer as good, but historically they have been successful.

12 Colombia

One of the best teams in the world, Colombia had great chances in 1990, 1994, 2010, 2014, and 2018. The ends of their 2014 and 2018 World Cup campaigns were marred by several obvious bad or rigged decisions by the referees. These midgame decisions changed the tide of, or ended all chances of winning, the game.

Their performance in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups was sublime. Players like James Rodriguez and Diaz are really talented and deserve a World Cup.

Mark my words, Colombia will be the next country to win its first World Cup.

13 India

India can win the next World Cup.

14 Soviet Union

Decent performances when it existed. Debatable if it deserves a top 10, but I vote yes.

15 Switzerland

Consistent team. They deserve to be maybe ninth or tenth on this list.

16 Yugoslavia A now-defunct country in Southeastern and Central Europe, Yugoslavia was established in 1918 and dissolved in 1992. Composed of several ethnic groups, the country faced significant political and social challenges, culminating in its breakup into several independent states. The capital was Belgrade,... read more

When Yugoslavia was still a country, they had the third-best football team in the world. If they were still a country today, they would have won the 2018 World Cup with players like Modric, Brozovic, Oblak, and even Dzeko.

Yugoslavia, in the 1930 World Cup semi-finals in Uruguay, lost because the referee was from Montevideo. Serbia scored two goals that the referee did not count. There is a movie about the World Cup in 1930, which includes a true scene where a policeman next to the stadium passed the ball to a Uruguayan player, who then scored.

It was not fair. Yugoslavia deserved to win that match and advance to the final.

17 Japan

Japan is great, awesome, and beautiful. It really deserves to win.

18 Russia

Russia has always had a good team. They have won the Euros, and if it wasn't for Putin, they would have done great in the 2022 World Cup.
