Best Cover Versions of Deep Purple's Black Night

Black Night is a Deep Purple song released as a single in June 1970. This is one of my favorite Deep Purple songs - it's so energetic.
The Top Ten
1 Black Night - Monument

Monument is a metal band formed in 2011 (UK).
This cover came out in 2013 and is the band's tribute to the great Jon Lord, featuring a guest performance by Firewind keyboardist Bob Katsionis. All proceeds from sales will be donated to The Sunflower Jam charity which Jon Lord was a big part of.

2 Black Night - Deicide

This is a death metal version (2006), which created many discussions - some hate this cover, some like it.
Deicide made many changes, including re-written lyrics.

3 Black Night - Pat Travers

A cover from the album P.T. Power Trio 2 (2006). Pat Travers is a Canadian rock guitarist, keyboardist and singer for Pat Travers Band.

4 Black Night - Hellion

Hellion, a Los Angeles female-fronted metal band, recorded it in 1982 (came out in 1983).
This cover reveals something about the original - Black Night is a pretty thrashy song, especially the riffing. Hellion slightly modified the riff and you can hear that the riff is actually very thrashy.

5 Black Night - Twilight Guardians

Twilight Guardians are a Finnish metal band that covered the song for their album Ghost Reborn (2007).

6 Black Night - Bruce Dickinson

B side of single: "Dive, Dive, Dive", recorded live in 1990. He and his band would perform it live during the Tattooed Millionaire tour. Bruce Dickinson also performed this cover several times later (live). No surprise, Bruce Dickinson is a big Deep Purple fan and Ian Gillan was his vocal idol.

7 Black Night - Egypt
8 Black Night - Vic Reeves

An electronic version (1991).

9 Black Night - Halfway to Gone
10 Black Night - Bad Manners

Believe it or not, there is a ska version (1997). Some of the funniest sounding covers of relatively heavy songs are namely ska versions (I love ska covers of thrash songs, haha).

The Contenders
11 Black Night - CJ Crew
12 Cash 'n' Carry - The Fall

The Fall is a post-punk group that integrated "Black Night" into their own medley composition "Cash 'n' Carry" (1982).
