Top Ten Best Defenses In NFL History
This list counts down the best defenses in NFL history. They could be from any generation.Revolutionized defense with the "46" alignment and overstack blitz schemes.
Set NFL record for sacks (72) in 1984; went 18-1 with a Super Bowl win in 1985, knocking out 11 starting quarterbacks in 16 games; and set the then-NFL record for fewest points allowed in a 16 game season, 187, while going 14-2 in 1986. This was a hell of a defense, people.
Only thing we should be voting on is #2.
There is no #2. Only the 85 Bears.
Best Defense of all time. When the injury depleted Steelers offense started 1-4, the Steelers defense knew they couldn't allow anyone to score the rest of the season, and they didn't!
23-6, 27-0, 23-0, 45-0, 14-3, 32-16, 7-3, 42-0 and 21-0 to finish with 9 straight wins and the division title!
The Steelers had a three year run with back to back titles in 1974-75, then arguably the best single defensive year by a team in NFL History in 1976.
It's all about the steel curtain!
One of the best iv'e ever seen. Ray Lewis!, Ed reed, Haloti Ngata. Did I also mention they won the super bowl that year? VOTE FOR THEM
Number 6!? Easily top of all time
There so awesome all of the. Mostly Richard sherman remember seahawks vs 49ers he is a awesome defensive back
This team has held every defensive stat that a team could have and did it just the teams 12th season. They went 7-7 because they had a historic worst offense but the defense helped the team from a potential 0-14 season and is very underrated. I can't believe this team is judged by record when they helped a terrible offense avoid the worst possible record
Should be 3rd or 4th. I would only put 85 Bears and 2000 Ravens above them, possibly 74 Steelers. Other than that this unit was better than any other on this list. Shut down secondary, exceptional pass rush and solid run D.
They literally had zero quarterback play and took down all the greatest QB's that season (Aaron Rogers, Phillip Rivers,Ben Rothilesberger, Tom Brady, and Cam Newton) to win the Superbowl.
The most under-appreciated fantastic defense in NFL History.
You know about the 1972 Fish - the Perfect Season Dolphins went 14-0 in
the regular season, allowing just 171 points; then they added three
playoff wins, allowing a total of 35 points, to finish 17-0.
