That is a dumb reason because I'm not popular and I honestly don't care. The reason why I kept on coming back to this website was because I got to express my opinions that a fair amount of the time my still-shy self in real life can't do as easily. Also I keep on coming back because a lot of the users are overall quite nice and friendly and I'm also reminded that I'm not completely alone in the world (which sometimes I do feel that way). Either way you shouldn't retire just because of popularity or really any dumb reason (unless you really have to retire or go on hiatius because of things like college or some huge family trouble or things similar to that).

Popularity is something very rare on this site, that only 1 out of 1000 users get to obtain without starting controversies. I bet if I never started any controversies, I would still be unknown to this day, because I'm very unlucky as a user, and would've had to force people into following me to get followers. I heard one user cared about popularity so much that he kept annoying people until he got what he wanted. He never did.

One, who cares about dating! I'm a stupid teenager who has never been in that sort of relationship, and I'm probably happier than most of my peers. Two, the website is specifically called 'TheTopTens' for a reason. Where are you guys getting online dating from that name?

Wherever you find love is okay to me, but please, know the risks. Especially for all the young people on this site, remember that dating is EXTREMELY risky when its anonymous.

I never got the appeal of online dating, I mean your "girlfriend" you been having virtual sex with could be a 7 year old boy who pretends to be a girl online.

Seriously, who cares about 'flames', constructive criticism is good for you. Also, if you can't handle being called a name, or getting called out, or whatever, you shouldn't be on the internet.

This would not make me retire. In fact it would do the opposite. I will NOT be forced out of something I enjoy just because some people don't like me. ;P

I bet the people that left because of criticism are oversensitive people who would have been parasites to the site.

I do not mind criticism, but that will not make me retire, that will make me a new improved and reformed user.

The most stupid argument for lists like TTT. If everybody should have the same tastes and opinions, what's the use of those lists at that moment? It would be just a information site like Wikipedia or any other site that gives informations about a subject or topic. It would be also very boring since this is a site based on opinions and not accurate facts ( which would therefor the same for anyone ). If everybody should agree opinions from different sources and persons as the right ones without contra-opinion / pro-opinion or contestion, well... that's called fascism. Also, this is not a popularity / fame contest. I know that I'm just a visitor ( and I have my favorite TTT lists and my less favorite TTT lists ) but I actually learned a lot on the TTT ( how some people think of something for good or bad, how some people are overrate or underrate some subjects, etc... ). If you have different opinions, that's even more of a reason to stay. You add diversity to the opinions on the site and keep it interesting. If everyone always agreed with each others opinions, everyone would blend into one and everyone on the site would be insignificant. Besides, if you have different opinions, you will get a lot more attention. Don't take that advantage and retire with it.

Even though some people despise sitcoms and pop punk, I absolutely love them. I don't go on a rant towards someone who likes something I hate. Opinions are a way of life.

Yes, this is a very dumb reason. How are you supposed to think that everyone has the same opinions as you? Just learn to respect other opinions if you think so.

I wish they would give me money. Of course then everyone would be hammering out crappy lists just to get some dollar to pay their bills.

No one even viewed my post and it took me 3 hours to make...it's fine and it's so not worth leaving my favorite site.

That makes me feel more motivated to make a better post, it might just mean the one without comments wasn't good, and if I make a good post, it would get comments.

Popularity leads to at least one person stalking you and finding out who you are, where you live, and what your life is like. In other words, no thank you.

Eh, losing one follower doesn't make a difference. You can just get one or two or more in a day or week or maybe even ten in the same time span (though, that's just me). Plus, this site is more about contributing content rather than being a popularity contest (to most of an extent, but you get the picture). I know I was pretty crazy about getting followers back in the day, but while I do have quite a large following now, I think what's more important than having lots of followers is creating content that your followers will enjoy or praise for your hard effort. That's how I see it.

I lost more than five or six followers. And some users followed me, and I followed them back. But after I followed them some of them unfollowed me. I don't give much attention to it.
