Top Ten Dumbest Route Directions Given By Map Providers

It's annoying when your satnav tells you to turn right when you should turn left, but there are some seriously stupid map directions given. All of these are as stupid as they are genuine.

The Top Ten

1 Telling you to buy a kayak and kayak across the Pacific Ocean

Excellent list as always, PositronWildhawk! My favourite is number 4. The thought of this made me laugh. But these are very real problems aren't they? Haha!

There's a better way to cross the Pacific. Get plane tickets. Although, I suppose this is the cheap way to do it.

2 Taking you to Helsinki on a route from London to Manchester

Yeah, You know it. It's the gift that just keeps on giving, mate.

3 Infinite Loop of U-Turns

4 Suggesting taking a left by driving off the overpass onto the road below

Note that there was actually a side-road a few feet ahead, taking you left and onto the road below. And that Apple, who provided this map, had their building situated right next to this road.

5 Take a U-Turn on the motorway

We were once driving down a motorway and the satnav told us to go to one junction, then the one before it, and oscillated between the two. We then went online and found out it was neither of them. Dumb satnav.

6 Directing through a building onto a parallel street

7 Starting in a random place

This happened to my family. The satnav had established long ago that it was in the UK, but once we entered directions, it suddenly started somewhere in Russia! What the heck?!?!

8 Telling you to reverse onto a motorway

9 Creating places that don't exist

10 "Forgetting" place names and buildings
