Top 10 Best Fairy Type Pokemon

The Top Ten
1 Sylveon Sylveon, known in Japan as Nymphia, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

This is the first Pokemon I try to get in every game. It's surprisingly strong despite innocent looks and can bring down a team if you misjudge it. Sylveon has an amazing Special Attack, while also having decent defense both ways. If you use him/her right, they're a great addition to any team. I just wish it didn't have one typing.

I saw a meme showing a Trainer complaining about his Eevee evolving into Sylveon: "NO! I wanted an Umbreon! Not some girly pink thing! I didn't raise you to be like that!" This broke my heart. So, I decided to return to Pokémon after a break since Gen 4.

In another picture by the same artist, Sylveon finds a new, happy owner. I was inspired to be that guy! Plus, Sylveon is incredibly strong and fits perfectly into my team.

2 Gardevoir Gardevoir is a third-generation Pokémon species originally introduced as a Psychic type creature in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Gardevoir is the BEST Pokemon in the WORLD! It is very loyal and cool. Fun Fact: It can see into the future and suck horrible people like you into black holes that probably lead to another dimension! It should be #1!

She really does deserve 2nd place. She is my second favorite fairy type! (My favorite is Sylveon). You must vote for her! If you hate her, then you are strange. Just vote for her, and done, see, no harm done!

Look at this beautiful Pokémon. Its attacks are more powerful than many other Pokémon. A combination of Calm Mind, Psychic, Hypnosis, and Dream Eater is deadly. It also has powerful Fairy moves like Moonblast or Dazzling Gleam. Oh, and Gardevoir's Mega Evolution significantly boosts its Special Attack and Special Defense. So cool! Vote for this beautiful and powerful Pokémon.

3 Primarina

Primarina is a gorgeous Pokemon based off sirens, featuring a wonderfully gentle and calming color palette, along with cute and joyful pre-evolutions.

With strong special defense and attack, the combination of water and fairy types is nothing to scoff at! Primarina has a type advantage over multiple types, such as Bug, Dragon, Dark, Fighting, Ice, Water, and Fire. That's 7 out of 18 Pokemon types that you could easily defeat with Primarina!

Primarina can learn and be taught a variety of moves ranging from Normal, Fairy, Water, Ice, Poison, Psychic, Ghost, Grass, Flying, and Steel types.

I would highly recommend choosing this Pokemon as your starter in Pokemon Sun/Moon. With the upper hand in most of the trials, you're definitely going to succeed!

4 Xerneas Xerneas is a fictional creature in the Pokemon Franchise. Introduced in Gen 6, it is a legendary Fairy type Pokemon, and the mascot of Pokemon X. Classified as the Life Pokemon, Xerneas has the ability to give eternal life, which occurs when the horns on its head shine in seven lights. When its life... read more

Oh my gosh! Xerneas is like the Cosmos (from Final Fantasy Dissidia) of Pokemon! This must be the most powerful fairy type Pokemon! It's also elegant, making it my second favorite fairy type Pokemon, after Azumarill. With its Fairy Aura and its signature move, Geomancy, Xerneas is going to take down many Pokemon. Look at its base stat of 680 – you would say that is "Madness"! It's both beautifully and powerfully designed, which is very rare. Milotic also deserves a fairy typing, but since we're discussing Xerneas, I should say that it's "Madness" – amazingly elegant and powerful! (Dialga is powerful and elegant, too, so someone please add Dialga to the list of most beautiful Pokemon. Thank you.)

5 Togekiss

Togekiss has the best move set, including Aura Sphere, Dazzling Gleam, Shock Wave, and Ancient Power. It is surprisingly bulky, has Serene Grace, and with Thunder Wave and Air Slash, the opponent will only move 30% of the time.

If your Togekiss is faster than your enemies, you've got a pretty good chance of winning with Air Slash's 60% flinch chance. Even if they are faster, you can Body Slam them to paralyze them. And Tri Attack! Man, and even Ancient Power... God. It's a wonder how this thing is only BL instead of OU.

As the final evolved form of Togepi, this overpowered Pokemon makes an Island Scan appearance in Pokemon Sun and Moon on Poni Island in the Poni Gauntlet on Tuesday. Its moves are overpowered, and it can beat Mega Mewtwo.

6 Azumarill

For Gen VI, Azumarill is outstanding. Moves like Dig, Waterfall, Ice Punch, and Play Rough provide excellent coverage. It might have the most coverage of any Fairy type. Waterfall is great against Fire types, Dig against Steel and Poison types, and both Play Rough and Ice Punch are strong attacks. I usually replace Dig with Brick Break (or Focus Blast if its ability is not Huge Power) because the damage output is higher.

I did not think it fair to include the legendaries just because I feel as if they should be judged in their own legendary category, regardless of whether you think the sparsity of fairy type legendaries justifies unrealistic comparisons in terms of status. I find that out of these Pokemon, Azumarill is fresh and extremely powerful and bulky. It is a must-have in every fairy team because of its well-balanced stats, movepool, and typing. Although I adore Gardevoir, I have to give this one to Azumarill.

7 Mawile

What happens when Game Freak decides to make a complete powerhouse? Mega Mawile. When you see this thing, you know it's going to rip a hole right in the center of your team no matter what typing you are. Seeing as very few things resist dark, and Huge Power Sucker Punch is just devastating, let alone if you Swords Dance Baton Pass into this beast.

Mawile is awesome. The combination of steel/fairy makes steel types not effective, poison types do nothing, and fighting types were already bad against fairy types, making its only obvious weakness fire types. This thing deserves number one on this list! My favorite fairy type. But hey, every Pokemon has at least one weakness.

8 Florges Florges, known in Japan as the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Florges, amazingly cute, is a natural healer with its built-in Wish, Aromatherapy, and the massive amounts of different terrains it can set to set up a Nature Power combo. Plus, she has a built-in Moonblast along with some amazing stats. What more can you ask for?

That my Florges took out a Darkrai in one hit and tanked an Iron Head from Mega Aerodactyl chuffed me to bits. Love this prudish-looking beast.

I used her in a random Wi-Fi battle, and the opponent forfeited the match because I was too defensive.

9 Jigglypuff Jigglypuff, known in Japan as Purin, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

How can you not love Jigglypuff? Originally a Normal type, it shines even more as a Fairy type! Jigglypuff can sing and put opponents to sleep with its soothing lullabies, and it's just so cute! You have to admit, it's the cutest Pokémon ever. Jigglypuff is plain awesome. I used Jigglypuff and Yveltal against the Elite Four. Yveltal fell after the first hit, but Jigglypuff was amazing. Go Jigglypuff!

The best part about Jigglypuff is that she evolves with a shiny stone, and Wigglytuff is amazing. One Wigglytuff is worth five Jigglypuffs.

10 Diancie Diancie, number 719 and the Jewel Pokémon is a mythical Pokémon in the game series Pokémon. It features in its own movie in the Pokémon anime series called "Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction". This Pokémon can also Mega Evolve.

In response to the other comment about Combee and Carbink, I think Diancie is better than Vespiqueen. The reason is simple: Mega Evolution.

Although Vespiqueen might be able to Mega Evolve soon, let's put that topic aside for now. I believe Diancie is cute and powerful in the right and intelligent hands. With the right strategy, such as using Trick Room, Moonblast, Diamond Storm, and other moves, it can become a massive yet cute bringer of destruction. Please note that this moveset is just an example, so don't try it and expect guaranteed success.

Diancie is the best fairy type. I mean, it has higher base stats than all of those Pokemon above it, has a great typing, an OP mega (I mean, 700 base stats!), and great moves. Not to mention how great its design is compared to the others.

The Contenders
11 Clefable Clefable, known in Japan as Pixy, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Why isn't this guy in the top three? Seriously, why? With full health, it can take a technician boosted Bullet Punch by a Choice Banded Adamant Scizor and still have time to incinerate his soul by Flamethrowering or Fire Blasting right in its face. And please, let's not forget that our man Clefable has access to excellent recovery moves such as Moonlight and Soft Boiled. This turns it, if used with due care and attention, into the undying threat that will make your opponent drown in their own hopeless desperation every time you're about to send our little dragon slayer out on the field.

12 Mimikyu Mimikyu is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It is a Ghost and Fairy type whose ability, disguise, allows it to take one hit without taking damage

Everyone forgets about Mimikyu's fairy side and only focuses on this poor Pokemon's ghost side. Its story is just so sad. It's dressed up to look like Pikachu just because it wants to be popular. This Pokemon isn't evil. It just wants to have friends. And it does in the last Sun and Moon episode, when Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobbuffet leave to go to Team Rocket headquarters and leave Mimikyu and Mareanie with Bewear and Stufful. And Mimikyu is still living with Mareanie, Stufful, and Bewear. So, at least Mimikyu lives a happy story.

13 Wigglytuff Wigglytuff, known in Japan as Pukurin, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
14 Dedenne Dedenne, known in Japan as the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Cute and small, Dedenne is a complete surprise to many, which makes sense as you should know size doesn't always matter for a Pokemon to be good. Plus, I love the one in the X and Y Series that was Bonnie's travel partner, which her brother Clemont caught for her!

Cute fairy type, but it looks like a cheap version of Raichu. Maybe Pikachu can evolve into Dedenne and then evolve into Raichu. Raichu can be an electric-fairy type also.

I love Dedenne! It is so cute and is one of my favorite Pokemon in Alola.

15 Marill Marill, known in Japan as Maril, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

It's Jemela's first favorite Pokémon, Marill. But that cat Pokémon from Team Rocket, Meowth, is not Jem's only favorite Pokémon.

16 Granbull Granbull is a Fairy-type Pokémon first introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Snubbull and is characterized by its large jaws and intimidating demeanor. Despite its fearsome appearance, Granbull is often described as timid and easily scared. Its strong jaw enables powerful biting moves, making... read more

Granbull looks awesome, and the 120 base attack is nothing to be sniffed at, with Play Rough plus a plethora of other types of moves in its moveset due to it previously having been a normal type. It must be the #1 non-legendary physical fairy attacker, only potentially surpassed by 'Huge Power' Azumarill. But it looks much cooler and more aggressive than Azumarill.

Come on, people, it easily can be in the top 10 at least. This Pokémon's look is totally badass, plus the new fairy type and cool move pool make this Pokémon even stronger than before.

17 Mega Altaria

Ice Beam is less effective, Dragon Pulse won't work, Stone Edge doesn't super effectively hit, great stuff! Water Pulse, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Aerial Ace, Dragon Claw, Moonblast, etc., such a wide array of moves this guy can use.

Just look at this cute and beautiful bird! It's just weak to ice and fairy, but it can learn Fire Blast, so? Just weak to fairy! I loved using one in Sun and Moon.

This thing is a BEAST. Its mega evolution is a dragon/fairy, a unique type combo.

18 Whimsicott

I can't believe Whimsicott ranks so low. It's my favorite among all Grass and Fairy-type Pokémon, mainly because it's such a good sub-seeder. Whimsicott is the fastest Prankster Pokémon, which essentially means it can't be outsped. A moveset of Protect, Leech Seed, Cotton Guard, and Substitute helped me last about 30 turns during a 2 v 1 in a doubles matchup. That's how overpowered Whimsicott is. With the right EV set and good IVs, Whimsicott becomes a formidable Pokémon to face.

This Satanic cottonball makes everyone cry in online battles. Whimsicott is also extremely cute and EXTREMELY annoying because it gets Prankster.

19 Clefairy Clefairy, known in Japan as Pippi, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
20 Zacian Zacian is a Fairy-type Legendary Pokémon that was introduced in Generation VIII. It serves as the mascot for Pokémon Sword.

A 720 base stat total in Crowned Sword form plus Intrepid Sword ability equals OP.

21 Klefki Klefki is a dual-type Steel/Fairy Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon franchise's sixth generation. It is known for its unique design, resembling a set of keys. Klefki's ability to collect keys and small objects adds a playful element to its character. Its Steel and Fairy typing makes it effective against... read more

Klefki is the God of luck for battling. Everything around him is luck-based. The best set is Swagger, Thunder Wave, Substitute, and Foul Play. Prankster makes all these moves except Foul Play go first. Swagger doubles the target's attack and makes them confused, lowering their chance to attack. Thunder Wave halves their speed and further lowers their chance to move. Substitute gives Klefki an extra hit, and if it has Leftovers, then it should recover health fast. Foul Play uses the target's attack stat, which was previously doubled, against them, making Klefki essentially have a doubled attack stat. Klefki also has great typing. Besides, how can you not love the little key fairy?

22 Magearna

Defense, Sp. Attack, and Sp. Defense are all great! The only thing is to train its HP and Speed. I would go with Speed first. Still, it's an ultra beast, though.

23 Tapu Koko

Tapu Koko can just electrocute its opponents like that. You don't need to send out backup for that thing. You can just say Thunder and it wipes out its opponent.

Easily my favorite Tapu for multiple reasons in game and in the anime too!

Tapu Koko is one of the best fairy types I have ever used, and after all, HE IS MY ACE!
