Fastest Metal Drummers

The Top Ten
1 George Kollias (Nile) Georgios "George" Kollias is a Greek heavy metal drummer and music teacher best known for his work with American technical death metal band Nile.

Drums beats into his soul & he reaps it outside! He is an amazing drummer with unbelievable pedalling so fast & so delicate! His drumming in Nile? heavenly best! mainly in the song 'Enduring the Eternal Molestation of Flames'! He is truly a pioneer in Metal Drumming!

Ridiculous double bass and blast beats. Definitely the fastest

Him and Aaron Kitcher from Infant Annihilator are absolute beasts... Inhuman Drumming.

His speed is cannot be understood. Maybe faster than a machine

2 Gene Hoglan Eugene "Gene" Victor Hoglan II is an American drummer. He is acclaimed for his creativity in drum arrangements, including use of odd devices for percussion effects and his trademark lengthy double-kick drum rhythms.

Best drummer I've ever heard!

Fear Factory'z 'Mechanize' ((in MY opinion BEST album ever created))
&
Pitch Black Forecast'z 'As The World Burns' are 2 of the heaviest & most solid albumz I've ever had the extreme pleazure of listening 2!

His work on Mechanize is amazing! and quite probably not even his best

3 Mike Mangini (Dream Theater) Mike Mangini is an American drummer. Since 2010, he has been a member of progressive metal band Dream Theater, following the departure of founding drummer Mike Portnoy.

He is the offically the fastest till now (he reached 1200 bpm in a minute but without moving hands and it didn, t sound cool)
But actually for me kolias is the fastest drummer.. And also where is inferno from behemoth.. Hear a drum solo for inferno of behemoth and you may think that he is the fastest drummer alive.. And by the way Joey Jordison is faster than paul Mazurkiewicz, Gene Holgan, Nick Augusto... But joey jordison ain't technical as Paul Or Holgan.. Even Jordison is my favourite drummer

Its already been proved he's the fastest drummer ever (second fastest more accurately)

4 Joey Jordison (Slipknot) Joey Jordison, was an American musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his work as the former drummer and co-songwriter for the heavy metal band Slipknot as well as guitarist in the Horror-punk band Murderdolls. He is the co-founder and drummer for the Blackened Death Metal band Sinsaenum ...read more.

For all you Slipknot fanboys who think he's the fastest, you are so wrong. People who say this have never heard of George Kollias or Nile. Listen to almost any Nile song on and after Annihilation of the Wicked, or any of his solo work and you will see what I'm talking about.

He should be second, behind Nike guy. Sure others have set records, but he's the fastest around a kit

I think he should be first I even listened to all of them and joey should be first

What is he so low he is fast as f... (I'm not going to swear so you can fill it in) but in short Joey Jordison must be #1

5 Inferno (Behemoth)

Just listen to Sculpting the Throne over Seth. Just listen to it

Absolute Beast, Possibly the best metal drummer we have ever seen, has played songs live at over 290bpm technically perfect.

Inferno is the best and fastest drummer in metal. He's easily my top favorite. Just listen to "Slaves Shall Serve" and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Inferno is the best and the fastest and my favorite drummer. Number one

6 Dave Lombardo (Slayer) David "Dave" Lombardo is a Cuban American drummer, best known as a co-founding member of the American thrash metal band Slayer.

Lombardo shouldn't ever be below #5. I mean seriously! Without him, all death metal drummers would NOT exist! Drummers set the pace for the band's songs, and Lombardo without a doubt did that perfectly. So before voting for a death metal drummer, THINK to yourself - who really started fast drumming?

Dave is a pioneer and revolutionary in speed metal. He forged the way for the rest to follow.

Dave invented this style of drumming! He needs to be number one! He is number one!

I would of voted for George but how could jordison be above the KING.

7 Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) Flo Mounier is the drummer of technical death metal band Cryptopsy. He has toured Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia and the United States as a headlining act over the last 24 years, and combined record sales have reached over 300,000 copies to date.

Seems like nobody here knows flo mounier or the tech death godfathers cryptopsy. flo's speed and technique is on the same level as kollias'

I think Flo should at least be second if not tied for first with Kollias!

When I first listened to Cryptopsy it blew me away, some of the fastest drumming I've ever heard.

Flo should definitely be in the top 3 if not top 2. Excellent drummer and guy.

8 Dave Mackintosh (Dragonforce)

You can't play faster than this guy, he's the fastest on double bass, and can play 270 bpm with ease consistently, listen to Reasons To Live

I bet non of you guys even heard him play if he is in 8th place, I am positive that he didn't leave DragonForce he would be in first place, because there is no news about him anymore, and I am the one who made the comment about him having reasons to live at 17.5 notes per second for base drumming

Listen to his double bass he should be in first place are you guys crazy listen to fallen world, revolution deathsquad, hero's of our time, and reasons to live but reasons to live has 17.5 notes per SECOND

Just Through the Fire and Flames, listen then you will know. JUST DO IT!

9 Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse) Paul Mazurkiewicz is an American drummer best known as a member for death metal band Cannibal Corpse. Mazurkiewicz was originally the drummer for the band, Tirant Sin, alongside two other future Cannibal Corpse members Chris Barnes and Bob Rusay.

Pete Sandoval Morbid Angel

10 Francesco "Scythe" Paoli (Fleshgod Apocalypse)

if you don't feel compelled to vote this guy, there's a good chance you haven't heard his blasts.

Fast gravity blasts and faster double bass

Faster then George Kollias

Why is not on number 1?

The Contenders
11 Casey Grillo (Kamelot)
12 Shannon Lucas (ex-Black Dahlia Murder) Shannon Lucas is an American heavy metal drummer from Staunton, Virginia. He is best known as the former drummer for death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder and metalcore band All That Remains.
13 Alex Holzwarth (Rhapsody)
14 Hannes Grossmann (Necrophagist) Hannes Grossmann is a German drummer who plays for the US death metal band Hate Eternal, German progressive band Alkaloid, and for U.S. technical extreme metal supergroup Blotted Science. He was also the drummer during Necrophagist's Epitaph era and played with Obscura for their first two albums.
15 Aaron Kitcher (Infant Annihilator)

If we're talking pure speed, I don't understand how people like Gene Hoglan can be before this guy. Now if we're talking "heavy"...

The guy triggers his drums, but it was shown that the he can actually play his stuff on acoustic drums, even though he didn't do it perfectly it's still impressive, since he makes the other drummers here look slow.

I don't understand why he's not higher in the list. Yes, his drums are electronically produced, but in his drum play through videos, he's proved that he can pull off crazy speeds on acoustic drum kits.

The fact that the guy from slipknot got placed at #5 and Aaron gets #16 is outright blasphemy. He destroys literally everyone on this list no question. Listen to anything he's done and you'll see,

16 Nick Augusto (Trivium)
17 HellHammer (Mayhem)

Um, hello? Come on, hellhammer is not only one of the fastest in black metal but also one of the most technical. he at least deserves a spot.

Great drummer more technical then most drummers kicks ass for sure listen to mayhem albums you will c.

HellHammer 4 Sure Blast Beats faster than all these Drummers

18 Dennis Röndum (Spawn of Possession)
19 Jason Rullo (Symphony X)
20 The Rev (Avenged Sevenfold) James Owen Sullivan (February 9th, 1981 - December 28th 2009), better known by his stage name "The Rev" (Short for "The Reverend Tholomew Plague") was an American musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the former drummer, backing vocalist and co-founder of the American alternative metal/ metalcore ...read more.

I love the Rev (no homo) and he's one of my idols, but he's not about speed. The Rev puts more technique into his drumming as opposed to speed, which is why I think he's the all-around best drummer who ever lived (I could care less if he's overrated).

Its funny how I had to add him, people say he's all about speed yet he isn't in this list?

Jimmy we love you! You are THE BEST drummer in the world

Jimmy is my idol and he was and will always be the best

21 Alex Landenburg (Luca Turilli)

Alex has shown in recent years not only is he a great talent, he is so adaptable to all forms of music and excels at them all.

22 Kevin Talley (Dååth)
23 Jörg Michael (Stratovarius)
24 Tommy Portimo (Sonata Arctica)
25 Charlie Benante (Anthrax)

Dude this man is for sure faster that most of these screamers. Should at least be top 5
