A female character who is strong and not remembered because of a shipping. Dawn with piplup was actually what Ash is with Pikachu.
Dawn has actually created her own new move combos than just copying someone else's strategy. She ain't a crybaby and is neither the typical damsel in distress. Yep she falls in trouble/danger but she handles it like a queen. Honestly I have to say she's not a lame version of her game or other counterpart. She, Iris and Misty (minus her terrible attitude) were my reason to like Ash's female companions.
Dawn went from overconfident, to insecure and depressed (she even considered dropping Contests completely in favor of gym battles), to quietly sure of herself and her Pokemon. No other companion has thought about giving up on their dream-since-childhood like she did. Nor has anyone considered changing their goal. She challenged a gym! She struggled way more than any of the other girls did. It took her a bit to get the hang of double battles/performances (this increased difficulty of double performances was not addressed at all with May. She just magically was able to get it). Dawn was shown experimenting (and struggling and failing!) with different combination moves all through her run (<-May did this about once...without resolution). Dawn always had to figure out how to pull off difficult combinations. She also had to work through problems with every. Single. one. Of her Pokemon. Yay! Dawn's #1! She definitely deserves it. She battled way more than any of the other main females. She was the most supportive of Ash, yet he never overshadowed her. She was also the only female companion seen to train regularly with Ash. He even got inspiration from the combination moves she used in her contests. Heck, even Paul, Ash's strongest rival, adopted the 'counter-shield' move she invented. She was brave, sweet, optimistic and funny. And she was easy to emphasize with when she struggled through hard times.
Misty, May and Dawn all three are unique in their ways and they are great. All of them are the best.
Iris is fine & OK( I do think hate towards her is exaggerated )
Serena is easily the worst. She can't even stand in front of May, Misty & Dawn
Lillie is some fresh air with her love of reading and has her own issues with her mother and brother
However Lillie is still better than Serena
But I think she has one bad thing common with Serena that
she only gets known in Lillie focused episodes. In other ones she seems to act like a prop.

May was the one who got the biggest development out of practically anyone in the show. Cutting hair because they are a whinny idiot does not mean they developed. Slowly growing to like Pokemon when you hated them = development, so does doing something more then just traveling as your goal (and to be with a guy u have a crush on but no nothing about SERENA or to run away from telling parent that u don't want to do something), so is being less whinny, impatient, & bossy. May was the only girl who had character development, a well balanced team and her dream to become a coordinator was the first of its kind! Dawn was just kinda copied.. after that. She wasn’t shipped majorly with Ash which made her likable. Serena is just complete garbage, Dawn is o.k.? Misty got boring and so was her team, Iris was annoying. She is the best and will always be the best-
I love May and could really connect with her many traits and to me was the greatest coordinator ever and way better than Dawn! Only problem. Advancedshipping, which is too overrated and can never beat Contestshipping!

In my opinion Misty is a strong female character and I think she is the best out of all of the female characters in Pokemon!

It saddens me how Iris is considered to be the worst travel companion with ash just because of the whole 'Your such a kid' aspect. So a punch in the face by Misty or throwing snowballs at Ash by Serena just because he was'not the ash she knew' is ok but a little tease which is pointing at Ashs immaturity and not his experience as a pokemon trainer is not? That some serious BS right there!
Extremely underrated pokegirl and series. To me, BW was just an unlucky generation with a bunch of wasted potential. to be honest, BW aired at a bad time when most older children and teens were growing out of cartoons or Pokemon anime. Also when disaster hit Japan, writers had to stop production; and think of a quick way to finish the anime arc between TR and Team Plasma which changed the whole anime back into a carefree one. Many changes were made when BW first aired as well, like finally removing Brock and making TR more serious which affected the whole Pokemon anime and drove many fans away. In the US, Cartoon Network even pushed BW to 1 episode a week early on Saturdays instead of daily episodes which affected ratings a lot. If XY came out first when these unfortunate things were happening, I wonder which season people would hate more? Iris is amazing, she's can make medicine like somebody else said. in the village of dragons when she was little she liked helping pokemon. she was sorronded by nature she can understand dragon type pokemon, which is important because what happens if the poke world was attacked by rayquaza which is also a dragon type pokemon. in the games she was very kind, int he anime she was full of suprises
If there was one character that said screw gender roles, it is Zoey. Nice to have an attractive tomboy in the anime.

Episode 8 of sun and moon made me fall inove with her. I still like Serena and iris and it is a little bit too early to judge but... I think that Lillie just might be even better!

Korrina is a fictional character in the Pokémon Series as the Shalour City Gym leader in the XY series, in the anime she's a cheerful girl with a explosive personality she has a Lucario who she raised and grew up with from when it was a Riolu, she was later tasked by her grandfather Gurkinn with finding the elusive Lucarionite which would allow for her Lucario to mega evolve. Korrina is strong and shows how girls can do anything in pokémon not just performances she trains so hard and is my all-time favourite pokémon character. She also has an imense bond with her lucario and has the passion and drive to help others (as we see when team rocket try and steal the scroll from her grandfather.

Sabrina is a fictional character in the Pokemon universe as the gym leader of the Saffron City Gym who specializes in psychic type Pokemon. Who doesn't loves a mautred, secretive and calm minded gal with dark hair... Besides her appearance her nature is so cool, her pokemons are very dangerous like she is and not to mention how she made ash go to a whole different city to get another pokemon to battle her alakazam. She deserves a place in top 10..

I like her and all, but she's basically the opposite of Serena. Serena is a typical I have a crush on the protagonist girl, whereas mallow is just a typical potential love interest for the protagonist girl. Serena got development and grew out of it, so well, hopefully, given time, so will mallow will too. So far Lillie is the only Syn and Moon girl that I truly love, due to episode 8 that is too!
The only correct answer is obviously Mallow. She's like looking in a weird Pokemon gender twisted mirror in a way for me. Also, her and Brock would be a good shipping.
