Amy Winehouse

Everyone knows Amy Winehouse was greatly talented. She uses such great vocal range that her music never gets old. The music on the radio as of 2014 makes me sick, Kesha isn't even a singer she's all auto tuned. Kesha admitted herself that she's garbage sheik? So why do people like garbage? Amy was all herself, her real voice I would love to here half the singers that exist today sing without auto tune. This list is complete crap move Amy up. People can't get over the fact she was a hardcore addict, but she was definitely more than that. She was young beautiful and talented. Look at the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, etta James, Billie holiday... They all were drug addicts at one point and nobody looks down on them. Just because amy died of drinking everyone looks at her as a disgusting waste of space on this earth, well I say enough people! Open your ears and heart, even better your soul.

She put everything she could into her music. Her awesome songwriting, her exceptional vocals, her bleeding heart... Everything!
People don't get she was a black woman in a body of white girl. Her awesome vocals prove what I'm saying. She could go from low notes to high.
Listen to October Song, You Sent Me Flying, You Know I'm No Good and He Can Only Hold Her. Then you'll start to understand the long story I'm trying to tell you.
Not just in vocals, she had a brilliant brain, poetic as hell. October Song is the best example, but you'll sure find many more if you go deep into her career, which I really sugest.
People don't take these lists seriously. Amy Lee? Celine Dion? Whitney Houston? Madonna? Avril Lavigne? Rihanna? Shakira? Katy Perry? Demi Lovato? Goddammit. Are you being serious?

Voice of our generation. Her diction and phrasing is wonderful with a rich and beautiful tone. Her vocal runs and techniques are outstanding and she is a pure Jazz improvisational singer. Should most definitely be higher! With todays pop auto tune tripe that blares on the radio and on our T.V. screens. Don't believe me about the beauty that is Amy Winehouse's voice listen to her sing Someone to Watch Over Me, Teach Me Tonight, No Greater Love and Take the Box...

She has the most amazingly unique voice and deserves to be no. 1 every day 4 the rest of her singing life

Many people can't look past her troubled life but those who have can see how truly brilliant Amy Winehouse is. She has soul, individuality and raw talent and deserves to be in the top ten! I've skimmed through this list and managed to see Ke$ha? Amy Winehouse could sing her and most of these people under the table, why? Because she is the greatest female singer of our time.

Superb new talent, voice like honey.
could mix it with the likes of Billy Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald.
She sings good contemporary songs and if she can stay off the booze and drugs we could see her around for many years.
I can't stop playing her albums Back to Black & Frank.

What is wrong with you people, honestly? I agree, Whitney Houston is a marvelous singer, same for great voices like Celine Dion or Aretha Franklin, but it's, long story short, unacceptable to not see Amy in the top 5 or at the very least top ten of this list! Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne or Pink are possibly more talented or vocally prepared than Amy? I don't think so, not only think, but I'm so sure they aren't. I'm not trying to be a dick here but this list is just dead wrong.

I saw the carpenters in London in 1976 at the London palladium and I honestly thought she was singing to a recording, that is until she came off the stage, into the audience to invite people to sing the la la lala lalala... To the song sing, I was sat in the isle end seat and after she wafted past me;and her gown touched me (at which point, I nearly fainted) she chose to stop just behind me and and I heard her sing, and I heard her beautifull, clear voice, it was no recoding, it was live. recorded or live, the best voice ever, never have, or will ever hear that again. in my opinion. her biggest fan ever, Charles

They put amy below the likes of Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and even KE$HA?! You gotta be kidding me. She had one of the most emotionally powerful voices of all times. I would put her at least in the top 30 and certainly above the kinds of trashy singers aforementioned. Amy is in her own league.

I can't believe she is below Kesha, rihanna and katy perry, amy has a unique voice that cannot be compared to most female singers on this list. This list is bull to me as it looks like its following the success in sales for female artists

She's the best singer ever, all these commercials singers like lady gaga, katy perry, rihanna... They just can't compete with her. Her songs are stories of sadness and love there are real feelings in. She is the n°1 and the only one

I will always vote for her because she was the truth...she sang truly and said only what she believed in.
When I heard her for a very first time...her some of 2004 gigs, I can't stop exploring something new, funny, interested and always magical in her voice. That is a magic. I'm so sorry that we will not hear new of her, but I still can enjoy what we have, what she has left behind her. RIP girl - 0scarbrunn

I think she is the best female artist ever. Her voice is so deep and it catches my attention right away. She can bring out the emotions of anyone listen to her song "Valerie".

Best voice of all time, closely followed by Whitney Houston. RIP, such a terrible loss of talent, not just her singing, but her writing too. No-one can beat her!

Amy Winehouse is one of or even the single greatest singer who ever lived. She sung a variety of jazz, ska and soul. There is no question that she should be ranked higher than Taylor Swift or Britney Spears who can hardly sing anyway...

Amy was the last singer of soul... a bit vicious and so familiar... She is so frank when you are listen to her soft a bit low voice, which is really sexy one!

Takes style to the next level and speaks plainly about life, love, and loss. Her range was incredible and her lyrics slice through my guts. No one will ever replace her.

She needs to be #1, she truly had a voice of gold- whether she was singing her own songs, or covers of good old soul tunes (will you still love me tomorrow-the Shirelles), this woman was incredible.

She deserves to be much, much higher. She is incredibly talented and has a beautiful and unique voice. Rest in peace Amy

"Every day number one of her singing life... " I guess the day has arrived that she ain't around no more. A great talent, but what a waste.

The best female singer ever! And such a true person, no fake ness to her. Love Amy!

Let me remind you of the greatness of Amy Winehouse. She is by far one of the best singers that have ever existed. She is not only a singer, but also a great songwriter and most important a big inspiration. Amy opened up the way to a legion of other female artists, that are now concidered to be the best, particularly in the British music (e.g Adele, Lily Allen, Duffy, Jessie J, and also others less important but loved to the teens like Taylor Swift etc.) Her unique blend of soul and jazz and her beautiful vocals added to her songs a lovely spice that other artist lack of having. I am one of the biggest fans of Amy Winehouse like tons of other people and am very disappointed about this list and the place she is at. If it hadn't been for Amy, this list would have been almost empty, besides the old ones, and I am also very upset that classic singers like Dinah Washington are really low on the list and that the list is almost full young, talentless some would say, auto tune American teenagers. Amy Winehouse, if not first, should be on the top 5 of this list, among with the other classics, yes I consider Amy one of the classics, like Janis Joplin, Etta James and Ella Fitgerald and above of all the Nickelodeon reality T.V. show personas like Selena Gomez who is only voted by little girls and not serious music lovers with experience.

Best singer of all time. She was so real. She had an amazing voice. I miss her so much.

Best female singer on the las decade period, if not more

Surprised she is not higher on the list. One of the few genuinely good singers with raw talent and a true musician who understood music. She really played down her talent. She wasn't a flashy showperson but she could SING!
