81Lzzy HaleElizabeth Mae "Lzzy" Hale is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She is best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the American hard rock band Halestorm, which she co-founded in 1997.

The high notes that she can hit, probably cannot be even dreamt of by other female vocalists

Amazing voice, so dirty and gritty. Her voice is ROCK. Amazing to see live.

She will make a new rocker legend with his band Halestorm.

Great singer! Can I get a amen?!

82Nina SimoneNina Simone was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist who worked in a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop.

Nina Simone was one of the greatest vocalists of all time. She is up there with Johnny Cash and Miles Davis in the coolest on Earth category

she blows all 100 of your women out of the water hands down. it's disgraceful she's not on the list

She's not among us anymore, but had such a soulfull way of singing. Listen to "Feelin' good"

Beyond fabulous just a trip through sound

83Billie HolidayEleanora Fagan, professionally known as Billie Holiday, was an American jazz musician and singer-songwriter with a career spanning nearly thirty years.

Top 10 vocalist, according to ANYONE who knows the topic. Too many know-nothings voting here. You doubt? Spend a half-hour on YouTube listening to hear at various stages of her career, from the '30s to the '50s, then tell me otherwise. Go ahead, educate yourself and enjoy it.

Any list of the greatest singers of all time that has Etta James at 38, Ella Fitzgerald at 39 and Billie Holiday at 74 and Dusty Springfield at 93 has no credibility. Most of the others are the stuff that this quartet would wipe off their shoes.

Any list without Lady Day has to be incomplete

Obviously only very, very young people here. Study history and learn

84Dusty SpringfieldMary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, known professionally as Dusty Springfield, was an English pop singer and record producer whose career extended from the late 1950s to the 1990s.

It was once said that "Dusty Springfield had too much voice for one person to own. " How right the author of this quote was. She was perfection in the 1960s and 70s, and their was no other singer who could come close to what she was achieving then. The same can be said today. Dusty got on stage and sang, there was no taking clothes off, no parading up and down the stage in exhibitionist fashion, a style exemplified and overdone by many of today's so called "singers. " There would be no room for them on a stage comandeered by the Late Dusty Springfield, whose talent, was immesureable. The owner of a voice so rare, who is sincerely missed by all those who know what it takes to sing with a voice so sensual, and spine-tingling that it makes you want to smile and cry all at the same time.

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT A REAL LIST OF THE GREATEST SINGERS/VOICES, IT IS A TENN POPULARITY CONTEST. I am 22 years old.

The late great Dusty Springfield is without a doubt the best female singer God ever created. Like the saying goes when he created you he threw away the mold. Drop dead killer in all her performances a voice like no other. A singer who has been inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame in the UK AND in the USA, and yet is placed at number 91, hard to fathom. Dusty Springfield is up there alongside the Aretha. Anyone with any knowledge of music, will look at this list and think what? Why is DS so far down here? Just as anyone with any knowledge of music is well aware she should be top of this jokers list.

I think it is safe to say that Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus, gaga, will not be remembered some 14 years after they leave this world. Or for that matter be even talked about for over 50 years, as Dusty Springfield is. Remembered and honored each ...more

The thought of the greatest female vocalist ever being placed down here at #91 is incredulous. Is this poll really a reflection of how people judge great singers. I think not. Dusty is a one off. A British Original, with no peer. She did it all with style and class a diva an icon and all the other titles that depict the universes best voice. She did things with her voice that others can only dream of, and many on this list would not dare attempt to do. She was born too early and was far ahead of her time, never taking credit for much of her production in the studio. She brought Motown to Britain and introduced to Blue Eyed Soul. RIP Dusty.

When true singers get together and talk about other singers Dusty name will always come up. This lady could sing anything Soul, Pop, Jazz, Country, Folk, Today there isn't any singer who could hold a candle to her.

85DidoDido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong, known as Dido, is a British singer and songwriter.

Dido's voice is so pure and original! How can this amazing vocalist be this low down?

Up to #1!

Live and Studio... no single difference!
The Lyrics, the Band and and of course the voice just unique and awesome

Dido is one of the only singers who writes her own music. Beyonce, Rihanna, andd others hardly write anything, how can they be rated so high? Dido has truly amazing music, she should at least be in the top 20. White Flag is one of the greatest songs in the history of music, I listen to it every day. If you haven't voted her then you obviously haven't heard her music. Her song with Eminem, "Stan", is simply legendary.

- 13 year old guy

I love Dido she reminds me someone like Adele with a unique voice. She's a very interesting singer and attractive.

86Mylene FarmerMylène Farmer is a French recording artist, songwriter, occasional actress, writer and entrepreneur.

One of the most talented singes ever.
Due to her language, she is not so popular around the world like different Brightmans or Houstons, but she is definitely unique person.
Simply try to listen to her angelic voice and you just fall in love for ever.

I guess this list is mostly by and for Americans who are rather oblivious to the other cultures and languages, self-centered, parochial, and so many other things. Otherwise, Mylene Farmer would be among the top ten. She is amazing. Listen to her Ave Maria or bleu noir and see what you think. Or watch some of her spectacular shows. A classy, literate, and intellectual artist. Please get to know her and then you will know what great music is.

Mylene is not just a vocalist, she is an artist! Her lyrics and universe are easy to get completely lost in, provided you understand French. If you like singers who write their own lyrics and have unique/alternative perspectives, try Mylene! Also a very kind, discrete person as far as I can tell.

Listen to her sing Bleu Noir on YouTube. Very touching.

87Judy Garland

Can't believe she is so far down on the list and below singers who could only dream of having her talent. It's not just about the voice but the feeling and personality that comes with it. Without a doubt the greatest singer of her time and one of the top six of all time along with Barbra, Ella, Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington and Linda Ronstadt.

Amen and amen! There are so many great singers, but only ONE Judy Garland. Its not just the voice that makes a great singer....its the spirit, the soul. Judy Garland gave it all.

Judy Garlands voice is incredible and no one ever comes close to hers.

People should know that it's not just the voice, but the passion and personality. Ones whole soul should be in the song. And Judy Garland gave it all. She's incredible.

88Marina DiamandisMarina Lambrini Diamandis, known professionally as Marina and the Diamonds, is a Welsh singer-songwriter.

Why isn't she in the top 50? She's my favorite singer right now! And I adore when in an acoustic version she sings 'Oh my gosh! You look, just like Shakira, no, no, you're Catherine Zeta! Actually, my name's Marina' Plus, her vocal range is more on fleek than my eyebrows - kaitlynrad11

Marina is such a talented singer, she's my most favorite indie pop/rock artist. I'm surprised I didn't see her before page 6! Her singing style is really unique and her lyrics are very original. - shotaprince

Marina has one of those super unique voices. She needs to be somewhere near Florence Welch on this list, because they're similar. Great songwriting and live vocals too, plus a nice attitude.

She is amazing

She is amazing... and she has some pretty amazing songs, but they are unreleased so most people don't even get to hear them... it's like whoever is managing her picks the wrong singles on purpose and the illuminati music industry wants her to fail because she didn't sell out like most of the other singers... it pisses me off when people bring up the Pussycat dolls or say "that girl from the Pussycat dolls group" she has so much more to offer than that she needs to put more of that talent in her singles that she has in her unreleased songs, live or when she sings classical so people can be exposed to it and realize that she can actually sing... she's not just another Ciara... Ashanti... Kelly Rowland... Rihanna... Beyoncé... Perry... gaga... etc. Amazing sexy beautiful talented girl who will always have a huge space in my heart but needs better music! Listen to her sing "I'll be your love" just beautiful!

Are you kidding me? Nicole is below stinky perry on a best female singers list? This woman is amazing, beautiful, talented, and really sexy! Stinky perry shouldn't even be here, she can't sing live, and perry's singing voice and her speaking voice are just grotesque! Nicole even sounds sexy in her speaking voice...I love it! Katy stinky perry sounds like a man almost, she makes me think of body oder when she talks, that raspy horrible voice! Stinky perry is horrible in every aspect! - NicoleJohnnyLutherBrianFan

I'm a biggest fan of the pussycat dolls I always wanted to be like them when I grow up first but her voice is so beautiful she's not like Miley Cyrus or lady gaga in my mind she had a spark everywhere that she sang that song I truly love is buttons but believe me she does care about her fans,

She always sings live! - DaWyteNight

90EnyaEithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin, known professionally as Enya, is an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, and producer.

This gorgeous lady is by far one of the best female singers of the young generation. She is defenetly under rated. Great voice. Keep up the good work.

Enya has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. It takes you to a happy place and is really powerful. She is my top 5 favorite artist. Caribbean Blue is one of my favorites! Should be rated WAY higher in my opinion

How can she not be in the top 10?! Perhaps the voters on this website should look outside the confines of the mainstream media and discover some real music. Ever heard of a little series called Lord of the Rings? The beautiful and graceful voice radiating those melodies belongs to Enya.

She has really nice music

91Sia Furler

She should be ranked among the top 3. Sia is no doubt the voice of our generation. I consider Sia and Christina Aguilera to be one of the best singers in the world. Sia has a really unique voice to listen to and all her songs are great. I cannot find a song by sia that I don't like listening to. Sia is perfection, all her songs have very deep meaning and excellent poetry. I recommend listening to her songs 'dressed in black'; a very graceful song, Breathe me, Don't bring me down, I'm in here and moon.

I can't believe Sia is ranked at 223. She has to be one of the greatest singer/songwriters to ever walk this earth. She sings beautifully and she probably wrote your favorite song.

Sia has the best controlled voice breaks in the business, I can't believe she is ranked 137! She has written countless hits for not only herself, but also other very successful musicians. She deserves to be in the top 5 for sure, such a powerful performer

The rank doesn't match her! She good!

92Alanis MorrisetteAlanis Nadine Morissette is a Canadian-American alternative rock singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actress.

It's interesting to note the wide diversity of female singers we are comparing here. Some like britney are just froth and bubble, some are vocal gymnasts such as Whitney and Celine, some are out and out pop like Madonna. The fact is if you are really after the whole dynamic range that includes sensitivity, ballads and power rock, then there is only one beautiful star: Alanis. If you doubt here 'octave range' try to hear ''one' live. It will make your hair stand on end.

The most beautiful and original voice. With so variable songs and many greatest hits. She is the best when you add up all these things.

I think she is the BEST. Super beautiful/original/clear voice. Not only sings all her songs but also writes all her own songs/unlike so many of the other vocalists out there. ANd.. Her songs are absolutely Genius. She Plays the Guitar and piano! She's Absolutely Gorgeous (inside and out) Love her hair. She's just AMAZING. Definitely should be number 1

Another one of the best judged by idiots top three at least

94Peggy LeePeggy Lee was an American jazz and popular music singer, songwriter, composer and actress, in a career spanning six decades.

Peggy Lee can do more with four notes than most other singers can do with four octaves. Warm, intimate, impeccable phrasing and style - truly a singer's singer. One of the first songwriter-singers and one with a sense of humor with a wink, she drew you in and made you listen to every nuance in every sung syllable. As a young gay man my fond memories of being seduced to the music of Miss Peggy Lee will always be cherished.

I think when you have Lindsay Lohan & Justin Bieber on a list like this and no Judy Garland you have a serious problem! Decade after decade she KILLED! One tiny woman alone onstage until working her to death finally caught up with her!

In my opinion, the best singer in this rank till Janis Joplin. The charm and class she uses in "Why don't you do right" is already enough to explain why I like her so much

You're right. Her song,"Is That All There Is? " pretty much sums up this list.

95Sarah McLachlan

I agree with this one. All mentioned singers are great but sarah mclachlan has such a beautiful voice and she is an amazing songwriter. She is world class and in a league of her own. You get lost in her songs. Love her

She has the best vocal range I have ever heard in my life. There are very, very few singers out there who can even feel a grasp of Sarah's powerful voice. It's a major shame to see her under the top 100. At least Anastacia Newkirk, another vocal powerhouse, is ranked quite high. There's nobody out there with a voice like Sarah McLachlan, however.

THe Best by far. Some of the other nominations in front of her are just a joke. Her vocal range is incredible. Most of the artists mentioned probably could not sing live because they are manufactured. Should be number one without a doubt. I mean? Katy Perry, Pink and Lady GaGa. You people are having a laugh! None of them should be in the top 100.

Sarah has a beautiful voice and to see that Nicki Minaj is considered better than her is a travesty.

They don't call her Blondie for nothing. She's sexy and very sassy that's why the lads love her! She's a legend that will definitely forever live on. What a super star.

Shes the best singer ever.

97Patsy ClinePatsy Cline was born Virginia Patterson Hensley on September 8, 1932, in Winchester, Virginia. She became a professional country singer in the 1950s, and became one of the most important artists in American music history. Patsy died on March 5, 1963, in a plane crash in Camden, Tennessee. She was inducted ...read more.

Patsy Cline is an absolute icon who transcended any single genre of music. Even though she tragically died in 1963 in the prime of her career, one thing remains clear... At any minute during the day, there is a Patsy Cline song playing somewhere. Her songs are still heard today in numerous movies, commercials, and television shows. If you've never heard Patsy, go borrow, rent or check out at the library "Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits" and you too will know what millions of fans already know. There will probably never be anyone like Patsy Cline ever again. Her voice was unmatched and she set standards for singing that have been rarely, if ever, been equaled. Regardless of your age... Teen or senior... Patsy will draw you in and be someone you'll never forget, nor ever get tired of listening to.

I think Patsy Cline should deserve to be in the top ten. She had a beautiful voice and she put so much emotion into a song which is not heard today. Today a song is just sung but not with emotion. Her song "Sweet Dreams (of You)" shows the emotion that she could add with her voice into a song.
She did not acquire fans through making a fool of herself or dragging herself around on stage in skimpy clothing, she got fans because she could actually sing. She's the best female singer I have ever heard.

Most unfortunate that perhaps one of the greatest female vocalists of the 20th century gets so very little attention because the record companies can't make any money off of her because she is dead.
Willie Nelson wrote the tune"Crazy"
that when he recorded it went bust.
She did it and it was a major crossover hit.
Many of the women mentioned in this list would give liberty and limb to have such talent.

Please for female... no one can touch Patsy

98Dolores O'Riordan

She is the original and most credible female rock artist of all time. She is Irish which is a plus and she is always true to her own style and beliefs.

Distinctive voice! Gorgeous accent! She has the ability to bring the fragility and anger at the very same time. She just turned 40 and has the 8 studio albums behind her. Her performances are stunning. She has to be in Top 20 at least!

She has the the best voice in the world by far, so angelic
She is a perfect person, mom and wife
All the songs touch my heart with her voice also her lyrics are amazing
The cranberries is a dream band, the best in the world
Shortly she is the best
And I'm such a fool for her

DOLORES O'RIORDAN MUST BE BEST FEMALE SINGER ALL OF TIME

99Nelly FurtadoNelly Kim Furtado is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She has sold 20 million albums worldwide and more than 20 million singles, bringing her total sales to over 40 million records around the world.

Brilliant Live performer. Stayed true on Spirit indestructible album to herself, not commercial-didn't crossover with the euro dance sound that's so in now. Big respect, but poor publicity with the album so maybe a relaunch needed to get the credit it deserves. The time she's been away for sure has affected the sales, so do listen (and support) before judging on critics scores!

she sings so good, she has a really talent, simplement incroyable :)
after fours albums and one best of, she will comes back next years, we can't wait at all! :)

She is the bird of the world that makes our life more happy in all the ways.

Lovely voice with unique style of voice.
