Top 10 Fighting Game Characters of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Scorpion - Mortal Kombat Scorpion is a recurring player character and occasional boss character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. His debut is in the first Mortal Kombat game.

I love how he speaks (GET OVER HERE! ) and he's my favourite character in any Mortal Kombat game. Even Ryu is good too. But it is really too much different game. Like super powers and shoryuken or something. But I vote for Scorpion.
Scorpion Wins! Fatality!

Yeah, a character that iconic easily deserves his place in this top ten list. What else could I say? "Come here. "

Most of all is signature moves are legendary moves.

Best moves, easy to play with, cool ninja custom, and a very catchy catchphrase. Scorpion is a total package.

2 Ryu - Street Fighter Ryu is a video game player character created by Capcom, the protagonist of the Street Fighter series.

By far the main fighting character, he's has the traditional Karate fighting style that beats a Samurai Shodown style, he is truly the King of Fighters and no one can Tekken his crown, he can be in a Mortal Kombat and win even if he represses his Killer Instinct.

Ryu, the One.

The one true Epitome of ALL fighters and Fighting Games. Hands down, I've played virtually all fighting games (OG geek) And Ryu has earned his rightful place as number 1. Scorpion is extremely overrated he's the john cena of fighting games cause we hate him. Ryu is the BEST.

3 Sub Zero - Mortal Kombat Sub-Zero is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat series and one of the original characters in the first Mortal Kombat game in 1992. A mainstay of the series, Sub-Zero is the only character who has appeared in every main Mortal Kombat fighting game.

Sub Zero is just cool, I'm surprised that he isn't in the top 5(Remember I wrote this in Nov. 30th, 2018) as he is basically the Poster Boy of Mortal Kombat with Scorpion. I'm surprised that Characters like Fulgore, Cinder, Shadow Jago, and Glacius from Killer instinct aren't even in the top 10.

He and scorpion are like the Ken and Ryu of Mortal Kombat. Sub Zero is an amazing character and a very patient, calm and reserved character.

Sub-Zero is litterally the coolest fighter around! And nobody does brutal elegance like he does.

4 King - Tekken

Been my main since Tekken 3. Played every other fighing game but always came back to the King of iron fist, King. One appeal to me is that it could be me under the mask.

His looks as to having a Jaguar mask is what turned me on to this character. I got more in depth to his story and I find it more intriguing than the Mishima storyline lol. King is one of the most badass characters in fighting game history. I find him better than Jin and Kazuya

5 Cammy - Street Fighter Cammy White, also known as Cammy and the codename Killer Bee in Street Fighter Alpha 3, is a video game character in the Street Fighter fighting game series and the second female fighter to appear in the series, after Chun-Li.

Best girl of street fighter. Cammy is an icon in fighting games.

6 Nitara - Mortal Kombat

Nitara, really? I feel like she's a character with potential for future mk games but doesn't deserve to be this high on the list

7 Reptile - Mortal Kombat Reptile is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created for Midway Games by Ed Boon and John Tobias. He debuted in Mortal Kombat as a hidden opponent and appeared in subsequent titles as a playable character, also appearing in the merchandise and other media related... read more

Reptile is one of the first secret characters in fighting game history. But ruined him by turning him from a badass reptilian like ninja to a damn lizard (MKDA)

8 Vega - Street Fighter Vega, is a fictional character from the Street Fighter fighting game series by Capcom. Vega is a mask-wearing, claw-wielding fighter from Spain who uses a personal fighting style combining Japanese ninjutsu and Spanish bullfighting, earning him the nickname of "Spanish Ninja".

While some fighters focus on overwhelming power alone, Vega understands the importance of speed and grace. His attacks are swift and brutal and his tekkō kagi claw makes them no less brutal. When this character is used right, his moves combined with his speed and good form make him a lethal fighter all the same.

My first fighting game was Street Fighter 4 and I always played as Vega when I was a little kid. Now I'm 16 and I still love Vega. Such an awesome character

9 Koyasha - Mace the Dark Age
10 Johnny Cage - Mortal Kombat Johnny Cage is a fictional video game character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games. He was introduced as one of the series' original seven player characters in the first Mortal Kombat game in 1992, and has become a staple of the series.
The Contenders
11 Jin Kazama - Tekken Jin Kazama is a fictional character and main protagonist of the Tekken series released by Namco Bandai Games.

We all have played fighting games (either tekken, either street fighter, either both or something else) but it's certain that we all have played and loved tekken as well as Jin...especially most gamers have identified with this epic character!

He can transform into Devil Jin and he'll beat you up like no one else. I'd like to see scorpion take on him in devil form

From being a discount Kazuya to one of the Strongest Fighters in Tekken Universe.

12 Kasumi - Dead or Alive Kasumi is a player character and the primary protagonist of the Dead or Alive fighting game series by Team Ninja and Tecmo.

Not just beautiful but an effective fighter that inspired me to love 3D fighting games still Love 2D games.

13 Morrigan Aensland - Darkstalkers Morrigan Aensland is a video game character from the Darkstalkers series of fighting games by Capcom, introduced in Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors in 1994.

Darkstalkers should never compare her to any other character in the series why Capcom does no throw her in all Capcom crossovers is beyond me?!

14 Guile - Street Fighter Guile is a character in Capcom's Street Fighter series of fighting games. He debuted as one of the original eight characters in 1991's Street Fighter II and appeared in the game's subsequent updates.

My favorite goody goody Street Fighter.

15 Link - Super Smash Brothers Link refers to several different incarnations of the same protagonist of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series.

Has an amazing move set really well balanced character.

16 Meta Knight - Super Smash Bros Meta Knight is a fictional character from the Kirby series of video games owned by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. Meta Knight is everything, he's all you ever wanted. You can win a set now, even if you never won it. Clashes he always wins, trade, they ain't ever gonna. You want him forever any counter pick he's better on it.

Aerial is down, press it while I'm jumpin' up. Then hit the B button like I don't give a care, I know you wait for it, but you're out of luck, I can do the same thing every single time, I say

Meta Knight the bess,
Meta Knight the bess,
Meta Knight the bess,
Meta Knight the bess,

Now donkey kong is mad, ddd is mad, Mario is mad, ice climbers are mad, lucario is mad, diddy kong is mad, falco he be mad, sonic mains are mad, wario is mad, fiction he be mad, everybody's mad, game and watch is mad, fox mains they be mad, but tkd ain't mad, but everyone is mad, I say Meta Knight the bess.

...
Okay, fo' real, outside of Ivan Ooze, Meta Knight is probably the best character in relation to most fighting game characters in terms of efficiency. It's hilarious how many advantages he has, and how his only weakness is something that can be lengthened via momentum cancelling; his lightness.

With highly ranged attacks, some of the best frame data for ANY fighting game character, + transcendent priority, in other words, even if your attack was 999% damage, but it was close to your hurtbox, and not very ranged, MK's attacks could slice through the hitbox, and hit you anyways, not clashes like they normally should unless there's a 9% difference in the attack damages. He also has the best recovery in the game. Six jumps? Check. Two glides which go across the screen, and have high verticality as well? Check. 4 different hard to interrupt recovery moves? Double check.

He may not be the best character in terms of whether or not he'd be your favorite, but in terms of effectiveness, he's only outclassed by Ivan Oose...who...let's face it, there's a reason he's a boss character.

17 Jade - Mortal Kombat Jade is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series by Midway Games. Debuting in 1993's Mortal Kombat II as an unplayable secret character who was a green palette swap of Kitana, Jade made her first playable appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
