29JourneyJourney is an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1973, composed of former members of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch.

With hits such as "Don't Stop Believing," "Open Arms", "Lights" etc. how is Journey not on the list? I am guessing that every single person in the civilized world knows at least one song. Their songs have stood the test of time, and "Don't Stop Believing" has become super popular again. They are one the most distinguished bands of the 80s, and are capable of such diverse sounds. They deserve a place on the list, if only for the insane range and beauty of their lead singer's voice. Steve Perry tips the balance, making this good band incredible.

#142? Are you kidding?!?! Based on record sales, concert attendance, longevity, recurrent popularity three decades later, Santana pedigree, populizers of the power ballad, and innumerable copycat bands... This is one of the most successful and influential bands of all time. They have their haters for being too "corporate" and/or too "commercial", but Journey is clearly a top ten artist of the 1980's.

Bryan Adams, Whitney Houston, Belinda Carlisle, Depeche Mode ahead of Journey and Queen. I don't think so, take a look at the body of work.

Journey should be #1

30Duran DuranDuran Duran are an English new wave/synthpop band formed in Birmingham in 1978. They were a successful band of the 1980s and a leading band in the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" of the US.

How are these guys not higher? Best band in the 80's, cracked America and were the One Direction of the day, but much better. Hungry Like the Wolf, The Reflex, Rio, Is There Something I Should Know, Save a Prayer, Wild Boys, View to a Kill, Girls on Film, Ordinary World, Notorious, Planet Earth, etc, etc. All classics! DD forever guys

Great band. Most underrated musicians due to style and looks. I've seen them live 7 times and they're still going strong. How many of these bands can say that?

Duran Duran pretty much created New Wave. The original 5 members had the perfect amount of Punk and Disco to create the perfect sound. Andy is one of the greatest guitarists.

Love Duran Duran, reminds me of a dear friend that I lost to cancer. She loved this group!
