The US leads in gold, silver, bronze, and overall medals for the summer Olympics and all time medal counts. The US leads for medals in a number of sports and has the 2nd most gold, silver, and overall medals in the Winter Olympics. They win (have the most medals and gold medals) most years. Finally they're 3rd in bronze medals in the Olympics. The US also has the most decorated Olympic athlete ( overall and gold medals) of all time in Michael Phelps. Enough said the US dominates the world of sports.

According to International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) the greatest medal collection is from the U.S.A. with 2,827 (summer and winter games included).
Second is the Soviet Union (USSR) with a total of 1,204 medals and third is Great Britain with 883.
If we consider the average medals per Olympics, USSR is first (66.9), U.S.A. is second (56.5) and Germany third (30.5).
So, there's no way to regard China as the greatest country in Olympic Games (at least as of 2019).
P.S. By the way the greatest Olympians are Michael Phelps (USA) and Larisa Latynina (USSR).

The United States is the best team ever in mankind. The USA has the most Olympic medals than any other country. Michael Plelps is the best Olympian ever with 22 total medals. Also the dream team basketball team is AMAZING!
