Greatest Female R&B Singers
The Contenders: Page 2XW
Faith should have been up atthe top of the list she has done more features and music as far as writting for others, producing and just down right really bring that old rnb soulV2 Comments
KATHY SLEDGE! Seriously, come on people, she's one of the most talented ladies to ever get near a microphone. She doesn't even need one. Her sweet and powerful raspy voice is unmatchable. Just listen to sing 'We Are Family' once and know why that song will live forever. Also, her album 'Heart'(1992) will melt yours.
Vote for Kathy Sledge, she definitely should be top 20 or higher. Her talent is exceptional. Probably better than some that are in the top 10 now. From an iconic singing family.
She needs to be way ahead of some of these one hit wonders! Real vocals...not auto-tunes!
Just voted for one of Philly's finest and a global gift to billions! Original and outstanding, Kathy Sledge is #1 in my book!V131 Comments
Beautiful voice, powerful lyrics and humble presence!V1 Comment
She has to be higher man! Love her!
She needs to be higher? Um...no. Ashanti can't sing...I thought everybody knew that. She has some nice songs and a sexy voice that can make a guy wanna do some things...but let's be honest she is not a good singer. - NicoleScherzingersNumber1FanV3 Comments
Monica...what happened to your music! You made good music in the 90's but your music sucks now, all that "I'm too good for you/I'm too good for you", I know what she's trying to do but it comes off as selfish and like most female pop singers today who think they're so great. Also her new album "code red" is trash! She needs to calm down...girl not all that!
Monica is one of the greatest singers on this Earth. She's such a great women!
Monicas voice is timeless! She slays live and on a record! The best alto since Gladys knight
She is the voice of this generationV1 Comment
Rachelle Ferrell is probably one of the most underrated singers of all time. She is a musical genius. Her voice is well controlled- she can come from smooth to strong, mellow to rough, anything. If you would ask her to song your favorite song a certain way, she would give you chills. Her voice in itself and the way she uses it is just raw talent.V1 Comment
Greatest voice of all time. No other R&B diva can top her.
Beautiful voice on her records, but more beautiful and powerful when she sings live.
Her voice is just outstanding. Nobody can sing like her.
Rights now the bestV3 Comments
Brandy is a legend in her own right! Look up her credentials.. The things she can do with her voice! She's not called the vocal bible for nothing.. I'm surprised she is not at least in the top 10 if not top 5
I've been A HUGE fan since I was a little kid! I Love this woman! Her music, her voice, everything about her takes me to brighter places! I'm thankful for this woman!
#22. That's really shocking. She should be top 10. Girl has accomplished so much and80% of the industry is influenced by her voice. Not to mention she's the vocal bible
Wow brandy should be so higher than #27 she was around when R&B was real R&BV7 Comments
Hands down Kelly Price. She can sing twinkle twinkle little star and make it a hit!
She's so good, I forgot about that other Kelly. Kelly Ro...something? Who cares, Kelly Price is a million times better! - DaWyteNightV1 Comment
So underrated her debut album 'The Way It Is' is one of my all time favourite albums
Lol, "ice" is a Kelly Rowland song, not Keyshia Cole! How do you get them mixed up! - NicoleScherzingersNumber1Fan
Keyshia Cole is one of the greatest voices of all time... I have been a fan of all the greats. But this lady of soul has come thru the door and created her own snd and soul.. When she sings it snds like its straight from the heart, she is truly not an entertainer but a singerV1 Comment
Eryka should be at least in the top 10 my girl don't play
Her music definitely isn't for everyone, me included. - DaWyteNight
Amazing tone and beautiful high notes
As far as the art is concerned his is in a class of her own.
She's just a dancer/actress who decided to try singing out for the first time. And every time she sings it still sounds like it's her first time singing. Basically an older version of Ciara the flop but with acting skills. - DaWyteNightV1 Comment
Top of the list great! Classy, great, beautiful voice.
She has the legs and the voice bring her upV1 Comment
How is Shanice not on this list...she goes unnoticed for some reason...funny I saw her on Family Matters didn't even know of her before that but she is amazing and should be at least top five...she sings like Janet Jackson sort of but much better lol...Janet should not be this high...she really can't sing that well
Okay...I'm pretty sure most people don't know who this is...I'm just lucky I came across her album on some site last summer...decided what the heck I'll give it a listen and was blown away by her amazing voice. It's a shame she only has one album but it is amazing she should make a comeback.
She's a flop! And her vocals really aren't all that. - DaWyteNight
CIARA! No doubt about this chick, my favorite femal artist ever and her dance moves aren't bad at all! Yoh yoh yoh, Love like and die 4 her.
Love her, she died before her time and can really belt out to a good beat
Classic sound! Miss her different way of singing.V3 Comments
Beautiful voice, carry the soul to your feet..V1 Comment
How are you not gonna have her AT LEAST in the top 10. I personally would give her number 5. She paved the way for so many young female artist. We seem to only remember whats current but where music has come is partly because of Toni Braxton. Her raspy, husky, mature and distinct voice is one that can never be duplicate. In my opinion she is one of the most underrated singers. Her song Un-Break my heart has over 50 MILLION hits on youtube, remains the second best selling single by a female r&b artist, and she continues to provide hit after hit.
Sultry, husky, sexy and elegant. These are just some of the few owrds to describe the legendary Toni Braxton. With platinum selling albums such as "Toni Braxton", "Secrets", & "The Heat" she has topped charts and has conquered the grammys, Las Vegas and broadway. Oh, and keep in mind, "Un-Break My Heart" is the second is the second biggest selling single by a female singer in Billboard history
Robbed! She should be more at the top- at least number 5 or 6!V2 Comments
Christina Aguilera by far. Just go listening to Stripped and Back to Basics.V1 Comment
