Greatest Point Guards of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Magic Johnson Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr. is a retired American professional basketball player who played point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association for 13 seasons.

Great choice as no. 1. Earvin Johnson had 5 rings not 4. Perhaps the greatest all around player of all time. You would have to include Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Michael Jordan perhaps fifth or sixth possibly behind Wilt Chamberlain.

The best are you kidding me inversion is on this list. He is a ball hogged. He can play any positions he has 4 rings who else

One of the best players to grace a court, period. The best point guard.

Magic could do it all on the court, and he did it like it was nothing

2 Oscar Robertson Oscar Palmer Robertson, nicknamed "The Big O", is an American retired National Basketball Association player who played for the Cincinnati Royals and Milwaukee Bucks.

NUMNER ONE FOR THESE REASONS
He average a triple double in a time that was bad offensively but great defensively.
Was smart and new when to pass when to shoot when to drive when to try and brake some ankles.
He averaged 30.1 points for game and around 6.9,assists.
Was a great shooter good at layups could dribble pass steal and could even dunk not to mention not to bad at rebounding.

Amazing numbers, smart player, 12 time all-star... wish I was alive to witness him in person.

Way better than Stockton

3 Steve Nash Stephen John Nash, is a Canadian retired professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association.

Steve Nash is the only point guard to play the way he did being able to take over the game with his shooting or his play makeing don't get me wrong magic was great and should be in the top 2 but Nash shot the ball better and controlled the game better then anyone ever has let's not forget he won back to back mvps and lebron was In The league and took 2 team with nobody good on them to the finals during that same time no body could have done that

The only point guard who compares favorably to Steve Nash is John Stockton (the amazing all-time assists and steals leader). When another point guard is a member of the 50-40-90 club for four different years, I will say he is better than Nash, the only true African on this list.

2 Mvp's, lead the league in assists 4 times (once at the age of 37), 50-40-90 shooting four seasons, Leader of the top 5 offenses of the last 20 years.
The numbers speak for themselves, Steve is quiet possibly not only the most efficient PG, but offensive player in recent history

2 time MVP, great player, needs a ring only because he deserves one.

4 John Stockton John Houston Stockton is an American retired professional basketball player. He spent his entire professional playing career as a point guard for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association, from 1984 to 2003. Stockton is regarded as one of the best point guards of all time, holding the NBA records for most career assists and steals by considerable margins.

Most Steals, and Most assists. And it is not even close. Nobody will pass his assist record for years if ever, and it will be a long time before someone passes his steals record. No one person will ever hold those two records at the same time after John Stockton.

He is diffidently the best point guard! He's had so many steals and assists!

No rings but was a hell of a player. The numbers don't lie.

greatest. look athis assists. with mj it was crazy

5 Jason Kidd Jason Frederick Kidd is an American basketball coach and former player. He was the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association.

Now with a ring, and still playing solidly after 17 years, kidd must be at least at top 5. kidd did not ride on the championship journey of the mavs, he was a core part of the team. and his stats could not be ignored. and he will still play next season.

Nobody has ever affected the outcome of a game more without scoring the ball. He was an incredible defender, rebounder, and passer. He definitely deserves to be higher on this list.

Top 5 player ever. He can shoot, juke, pass, and get rebounds for only a guy at 6'4. BEst ever. Never afraid to take a shot

Future hall-of-famer and current all star; fun to watch.

6 Bob Cousy

Revolutionized the position... Cooz was way ahead of his time. Deserves to be in the running of the best of all time- he has the numbers AND rings (6)to prove it.

7 Stephen Curry Wardell Stephen Curry II is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, if not the greatest. He is one of the most beloved stars in the NBA today, as well as one of the most controversial.

When he retires, he will be the best shooter of all time, hee choked in the finals because bogut got injured and no one can guard the paint against Lebron

Even though he choked in the finals he's still the greatest shooter of all time in my opinion

8 Isiah Thomas Isiah Lord Thomas III is an American former basketball player who played professionally for the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association.

The most unique point guard, with the stats to match.

9 Allen Iverson Allen Ezail Iverson is an American retired professional basketball player who played for 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association.

He is tonnes better than Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson, he is the best player besides Michael Jordan

He should be number 1, Johnson is a legend but he is not as good as Iverson

ai watch those ankels cross

10 Jerry West Jerry Alan West is an American retired basketball player who played his entire professional career for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association.

A pure shooter and great PG who deserves more credit then he receives.

The Contenders
11 Chris Paul Christopher Emmanuel Paul is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association.

One of the BEST ALL TIME! I personally was part of the prospect department in New Orleans for years when we drafted him and he is pure talent. He should be number 2 and number 1 by the end of his magnificent career. Good luck to you man Mr. Paul has a lot of potential that he hasn't already shown.

Never in a million years could any one come near this guys better than D. Rose...

12 Gary Payton Gary Dwayne Payton Sr. is an American retired professional basketball player. He started at the point guard position. He is best known for his 13-year tenure with the Seattle SuperSonics, and holds Seattle franchise records in points, assists, and steals.
13 Kyrie Irving Kyrie Andrew Irving is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association. He has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and the Nets.
14 Walt Frazier Walter "Clyde" Frazier is an American former basketball player in the National Basketball Association.

Clyde was so smooth he made the point guard position look easy. He should be where ai is. I mean AI isn't even a true point guard he's a shooting guard. You can't have a shooting guard in the point guards list. Clyde was simply to smooth, You can't touch clyde and that's really alls there is to say.

15 Tiny Archibald

Most dominating small point guard ever.

16 Fat Lever
17 Rajon Rondo Rajon Pierre Rondo is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association.

He is far superior then both Stevie Fanchise and T. Parker. As true a point guard that has ever been.

Because he play smart on the court and know how to lead a team

18 Kevin Johnson

So so underrated. Just compare his stats to most above him. Top 10-15 all time no doubt.

19 Chauncey Billups Chauncey Ray Billups is an American retired professional basketball player who played 17 seasons in the National Basketball Association.
20 Tony Parker William Anthony Parker Jr. is a French professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association.

Come on man Parker has more rings than most people in the list and he was a 6 time all star...no ways he is Lowe than RAJON RONDO...he must be alteast in top 10

21 Derrick Rose Derrick Martell Rose is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association.

Rajon Rondo ahead of D Rose? Derrick is the worlds youngest MVP. And so far he's looking like he's gonna come back just as good. Just cause he tore his ACL doesn't mean he's gone forever. HE'S COMING BACK!

I'm suprised someone put Rajon Rondo on this list and not d-rose.

22 Mark Price
23 Kenny Anderson
24 Russell Westbrook Russell Westbrook Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association.
25 Lonzo Ball
