Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Movie Review

MegaSoulhero SPOILER WARNING!!! So Empire Strikes Back ended on a cliffhanger. So of course people wanted to see what happened after that. Three years later, Return of the Jedi came out, and of course, it was awesome!

This movie does some things that are better than the previous 2! The effects in this one are some of the best I've seen in the franchise! The battle scenes, as usual, are very epic! I also found this movie to be more dramatic! Empire Strikes Back had some pretty dramatic scenes but the ones in Return of the Jedi leave more of an impact! That scene where Luke watches Yoda pass away is very emotional! That final fight scene with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine is very intense! We get this really awesome moment where Palpatine is defeating Luke but then Vader comes in and gets rid of him! That is awesome! And when Luke removes Vader's helmet so he can see his father's face for the first (and last) time is very emotional! The writing is very great and there are a lot of dark moments! I really like the character of Emperor Palpatine! He is such a very creepy and menacing villain! The actor really gave a good performance!

Unfortunately, this movie has a few more problems than the other two films. One problem being the Ewoks! I don't really like them. They're not as bad as Jar Jar Binks, oh I'll talk about him eventually, but they just seem so out of place! They look like stuffed animals! I felt like they were only included because kids love cute, fuzzy, little creatures. I can understand that but I don't get how they are able to do so well against the stormtroopers. They throw rocks at them and that's enough to take down the stormtroopers! Keep in mind the stormtroopers are wearing helmets and armor! Also, while Yoda is dying, he tells Luke about another Skywalker and was wondering, why couldn't he just simply tell him that he was related to Leia? There are quite a few things that don't make sense. I also really didn't like Boba Fett's death. He's supposed to be this awesome bounty hunter but he gets killed WAY too easy! But that overall fight scene is still pretty cool!

Return of the Jedi may not be as good as the first two movies, but I still really enjoyed it! It's still a very fun movie if you're a Star Wars fan! It has quite a few flaws but the good stuff is REALLY good! Well, I finished reviewing the original trilogy, now I have to review the prequels! Oh boy.
