Top Ten Guitarist/Bassist Duos

The guitar/bass chemistry is often one that is overlooked in bands, due to the glamour of vocal/guitar duos (not that those are bad). Let's take a look at the ones we love!
The Top Ten
1 John Frusciante and Flea - Red Hot Chili Peppers
2 Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin

Jones has always backed Jimmy of his heavy riffs with his bass riffs

3 Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee - Rush
4 George Harrison and Paul McCartney - The Beatles
5 Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson - Megadeth

The best working tandem in Megadeth - they've been together since the beginning in the 80s.

6 Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover - Deep Purple

They also played together later in Rainbow and this is another proof their collaboration was great.

7 Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt - Green Day
8 Slash and Duff McKagan - Guns N' Roses
9 James Hetfield and Cliff Burton - Metallica
10 Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan - Mr. Big
The Contenders
11 Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce - Cream
12 Dimebag Darrell and Rex Brown - Pantera
13 Pete Townshend and John Entwistle - The Who
14 Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic - Nirvana
15 Gary Moore and Phil Lynott - Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy had several more guitarists but these two were really great together and they were friends. They wrote and played many songs together even after Gary's departure (ex., Out In The Fields).

16 Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson - Rush
17 Steve Howe and Chris Squire - Yes
18 David Gilmour and Roger Waters - Pink Floyd
