Hated because the singer is annoying amongst other things, plus their derogatory name

I agree. But the other band members are rocks, just Durst is bad.

I will never Limp with the Bizkit...

2 Linkin Park Linkin Park is an American alternative rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The current members include Mike Shinoda (vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ), and Rob Bourdon (drums). For me, they aren't a bad band, but their fans are extremely annoying that I can never really like this band anymore. I'm talking about the "hardcore elitist fans" or whatever. They never shut up about how awesome LP is as well as how great their first albums were. God forbid you ever tell them about the stuff from A Thousand Suns onward though. That's when they thought that the band totally sold out. I actually like some of their newer stuff to be quite honest. For me, I thought that LP sold out once Chester became the vocalist of Stone Temple Pilots.

Come on, they are kings of nu metal!

3 Slipknot Slipknot is an American metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa in 1996. The band is best known as one of the pioneers of the New Wave of American Alternative Metal during the late 1990s - 2000s and are distinguishable by the band's clothing choices, consisting of black/red jumpsuits and horror inspired masks. ...read more.

For their grotesque stage look as well as their songs. I think that their drummer Joey was the best part of the band.

Ok, I don't hate this band, but I hate Corey Taylor, because he is very swearing.

Great band, but I hate the lead singer.

It's for having an unnessecary anoumt of members. They should split into 2 bands.

4 KoRn Korn is an American nu-metal band from Bakersfield, California, formed in 1993. The band's current lineup includes founding members Jonathan Davis, James "Munky" Shaffer, Brian "Head" Welch, and Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, with the addition of Ray Luzier, who replaced the band's original member, David Silveria in 2007. For apparently starting the trend. At least their trend was better than the pop songs that were about to span the next decade. Also, the mispelling of the name (this goes for many other bands in the nu-metal scene.

I actually think this is a good enough band. My second account is named after their best song.

This is so awesome!

5 Staind Staind was a post-grunge/alternative metal band formed in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995.

Staind is Aaron Lewis (vocalist and guitarist), Jon Wysocki (drummer, left in 2011), Johnny April (bassist), and Mike Mushok (guitarist). After Jon's departure Sal Giancarelli filled in as drummer until the band's hiatus in 2012.

Staind's early sound was predominantly nu metal, then they verged into softer territory with passing albums, becoming more post-grunge in sound.

Many of Staind's song deal with depression, substance abuse, death, and similar subjects. The band has enjoyed modest success off of such songs. ...read more.

For going soft, more or less. I like both their heavy and their soft stuff.

Staind isn't nu metal, it's post grunge.

6 Mushroomhead Mushroomhead is an American nu metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. Formed in 1993 in the Cleveland Warehouse District, the band is known for their avant-garde sound which includes influence from heavy metal, art rock and electro-industrial and their imagery which features masks and costumes as well as their unique live shows usually performed at smaller venues.

Mushroomhead gets A LOT OF FLAK from Slipknot fans for being similar. If you could just ignore that kind of argument and just listen it might be pretty good. That ongoing feud between the fans of both bands needs to stop already.

7 Disturbed Disturbed is an American alternative metal/nu-metal/hard rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The band comprises vocalist David Draiman, bassist John Moyer, guitarist Dan Donegan, and drummer Mike Wengren. They are known for songs like "Down With the Sickness" and "Stricken".

For being mostly rap-based, although the guitar work is great.

8 Godsmack Godsmack is an American alternative metal/hard rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The band is composed of founder, frontman and songwriter Sully Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill, and drummer Shannon Larkin.

For being a ripoff of Alice in Chains, these guys got quite a bit of flak going against them.

Their 2014 album is pretty good I must admit.

9 Three Days Grace Three Days Grace is a Canadian post-grunge/alternative rock band formed in Norwood, Ontario in 1992 with a line-up consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Adam Gontier, drummer and backing vocalist Neil Sanderson, and bassist Brad Walst. Their original name was Groundswell until they changed it to their current name in 1997. In 2003, the band's current guitarist Barry Stock was recruited to the band. In 2013 Gontier left the band due to creative differences. He was replaced with Brad's brother Matt Walst.

Not a nu metal band. Though I still hate it.

10 Papa Roach Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California. Formed in 1993, their first major-label release was the triple-platinum album Infest.

I hate this band, and I hate Last Resort. Mostly because it rips of Iron Maiden's Hallowed be thy Name. Listen to it and tell me the greater song.

I'd say their newer stuff isn't great, but they have more hate for the song Last Resort and it's emo lyrics amongst other things.

The Contenders
11 Drowning Pool Drowning Pool is an American Nu-Metal band formed in Dallas, Texas in 1996. The band was named after the film The Drowning Pool.
12 Lifer

For being more or less a typical band in the nu-metal scene. It's nice to know where two of the guys from Breaking Benjamin came from though.

13 Trapt Trapt is an American post-grunge band that formed in Los Gatos, California, in 1995. They are best known for their 2002 single "Headstrong".

Interesting that I forgot about Trapt when making this. Chris Taylor Brown has been spouting weird political nonsense the past two years.
