Best High-Pitched Metal Growlers

The Top Ten
1 Chuck Schuldiner (Death) Charles Michael "Chuck" Schuldiner (1967-2001) was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known as the founder and vocalist, guitarist and bassist of the American heavy metal band Death. He is considered the most influential figure in Death Metal, with some publications referring to Chuck as the "Godfather of Death Metal". Schuldiner died in December 13, 2001 of brain cancer, his death subsequently leading to the disbandment of Death, but has remained influential among many aspiring metal artists. He was also known for his polite and life loving attitude and openly condemned stereotypes of metal musicians being harmful and evil.

Practically the only growl I truly love the sound of. He could apply such a weird and unique tone/melody in the way the verses unfolded so that it fitted the progressive and technical instrumental composition AND always made it sound awesome.

Also, the majority of growlers I've heard sound like total robots and you can always hear them straining. Chuck's technique just made him sound so natural, still possessing a humane touch while very dark and evil.

He was a legend! With amazing vocals (perhaps the first to use growling to sing) and great musicianship, he was a real gem. He was against drugs, voices out on many other social ills, fought for animal justice and was a down to earth person. And by the way, he was the GODFATHER of Death Metal, and yet he did not take the credits

High pitched vocals is hard, especially for men. Growling is also hard. High pitched growling must be extremely hard then (just guessing).

Have you checked the last death album? Hear "Painkiller", "The Flesh And The Power It Holds", "Spirit Crusher" and you will know what I mean...
