Top 10 Most Ignorant and Absurd Music Comments On TheTopTens

This list will be incredibly subjective as the literal denotation of the list criteria of words such as "Ignorant" and "Absurd" have varying interpretations. As a result, subjective opinions may be added and even shamed at certain circumstances depending on the connotations and beliefs of the item submitter. This list will mostly be focusing on unpopular opinions, inaccurate genre categorizations and mostly negative music comments in general.

With that being said, this is a list of the most ignorant and absurd music comments ever found on TheTopTens.
The Top Ten
1 "I heat jackie evan cho I didn't even know who she was katy is the best" - about Jackie Evancho and Katy Perry

You can't compare them. One is a classical crossover singer, the other is pop. Some might disagree, but I think both are among the best their respective genre has to offer at the moment. Evancho is a naturally gifted singer, and that is something truly beautiful. And Perry is maximum entertainment that brings individuality and goofiness to the pop scene.

Apart from that... I myself make enough spelling mistakes. It can happen when you don't read your comment a second time before posting it. And yeah, English ain't my mother tongue so I bet I make more grammar mistakes that I notice. But with all these aspects combined - content, grammar and spelling - something tells me the author was simply ignorant.

"I Heat Jackie Evan Cho" just cracks me up whenever I see it. The commentator has no basic knowledge about Jackie Evancho, which already defeats the intention of this comment. Also, "was"? Did Jackie Evancho pass away at one point? Its fine if you like Katy Perry, but before you make a comment expressing any area of distaste towards certain music artists, have something constructive to at the very least make your comment presentable, let alone have a good point.

2 "why does everyone like metal? It's just some satanic dudes screaming about burning churches. You should listen to some good Christian music like Justin beiber, one direction, and nikki minaj. Not that satanist crap like Metallica, korn, and slayer."

Anytime someone uses the word "everyone" in their argument, the argument loses much (if not all) of its validity. That doesn't even get into the ridiculousness of discussing "good Christian music" and then proceeding to list not a single artist who makes Christian music. (Unless you count Christmas songs, which is a stretch.) My guess is that the commenter was just picking random musicians that were not metal, without regard for whether or not those musicians even have an image of being "good Christians" or even artists who just make "clean" music.

This is wrong on SO MANY WAYS! First off, what's labelled as "Christian Music" has got nothing to do with Christianity aside from the artists personal beliefs. If you want actual Christian artists, try Laura Story or a band called Addison Road. Heck, even Skillet and RED would make the list.

And as for "Satanist crap", none of the bands mentioned have got anything to do with Satanism (Except Slayer on some occasions and even then, its out of lyrical and conceptual exploration rather than expressing a belief). There are Satanic bands true, but they do NOT define an entire genre. Not to mention there are many Metal bands that express Christianity as a positive force.

3 "the haters of dimash are all racist" - about Dimash Kudaibergen

For the one who wrote this comment, check the Most Hated Countries list. That's the very "best" of REAL racism.

Additionally, the Kazakh are turanid which is a transitional form between white/Caucasian and Mongolid, so it's borderline racism at worst if they really hate him for his race (unless of course the hater is a non-white racist).

How is disliking a singer from a foreign country "racist"? You are not hating their skin color, just their music.

This is one of the most ignorant. Just because you don't like a something from other countries, it doesn't mean that you are racist. It's also the same with Bollywood and K-POP.

4 "freddie mercury had a vocal range around 8 octaves" - about Freddie Mercury

I agree that Freddie Mercury had an impressive vocal range, but an entire standard piano has 7 octaves. Having a range as huge as that is already impossible, and if it is, it's extremely rare, so it would be especially unlikely for someone's vocal range to be the entire piano plus one extra octave.

Freddie Mercury has to be a mutant if he had about 8 octaves. Well, the most octaves recorded on a single person is a Brazilian man who has 10 octaves, but even then, singers barely hit 6 octaves either way. Mercury had about 4, which is still a rare feat.

There is actually evidence that someone could, not sing, but whistle a range of eight octaves. I'm not sure if this is as impressive as being able to sing eight octaves, but never mind. What list was this on?

I made several lists about vocal ranges and I have to say that most people know nothing about the ranges. A guy thought that several singers with 2 octaves had 5.

5 The gods of extreme metal! - about Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath is more aggressive, faster and br00tal than Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Strapping Young Lad, Cattle Decapitation and Anaal Nathrakh, and they are the best because they WERE THE FIRST!

Okay, sarcasm aside, I have my reasons to state Black Sabbath is the most overrated Metal band. These fanboys are so rabid and proud, they give Megadeth a run for their money...

Actually, they're the gods of metal as a whole, not just extreme metal.

That's because Black Sabbath created heavy metal as a genre.

I agree with CrimsonShark that Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) is the most overrated Metal band. And I also agree that Black Sabbath fans are worse than Megadeth fans - both fanbases credit their favorite bands for things the bands didn't do.
In response to many exaggerated, absurd and annoying claims by Black Sabbath fans, I made several lists:
Top 10 Reasons Why War Pigs by Black Sabbath Didn't Create Power Metal
Top 10 Reasons Why Black Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Didn't Create Death Metal
Top 10 Reasons Why After Forever by Black Sabbath Didn't Create Christian Metal
Top 10 Reasons Why Symptom of the Universe by Black Sabbath Didn't Create Thrash Metal

Black Sabbath isn't extreme metal so how are they gods of it?

6 "ugly, fat, can't sing" - about Adele

1. Beauty is subjective
2. Weight/size is, in many ways, subjective
3. If she "can't sing", then how come she does? And is paid lots of money to do so?

She's a big lady but has a pretty face. And who cares how she looks like if she can sing? Yes, Adele definitely CAN sing. Again, I'm not her fan but I'm not deaf.
And I'm not biased (unlike some metal haters who refuse to admit that there are great singers in metal).

Whether you like her or not, she is an excellent singer with a very wide vocal range. And this is coming from a metalhead who loves Cannibal Corpse.

7 "ac/dc is my favourite band and some of the bands above this can't even be classified as metal. " - about Back in Black on the list "best metal songs"

AC/DC is hard rock, not metal. Also, please tell me actual metal bands were above AC/DC...

8 "nirvana invented grunge"

Yes, they would prove influential to Grunge's development and be a key factor in its popularity, but they seem to take more credit then they deserve, which leaves others like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam somewhat neglected, which is definitely not a good thing. Also noting that neither of the four invented Grunge at all, but they do deserve their recognition and influence for years to come.

"Poser" Nirvana fans are so ignorant that they think Nirvana invented grunge which isn't true Green River invented grunge and if you want to go further technically the Nile Song by Pink Floyd is a grunge song.

A "poser" Nirvana fan is a person who says they love Nirvana even though they have only heard the popular songs from Nevermind and think SLTS is the best song ever made and Nevermind is the best album ever made, typically they wear Nirvana shirts with their logo on them.

List: Best Grunge / Alternative Rock Bands

Nirvana didn't even popularize grunge (Pearl Jam's Ten came out a month before Nevermind), let alone invent it (Green River's 1985 EP Come On Down was the first album to be called grunge).

I'm pretty sure there's a difference between popularizing something and inventing something.

9 "megadeth invented thrash metal"

Metallica and Slayer released their debut albums in 1983.

Megadeth released its debut album in 1985.

Venom released Welcome to Hell in 1981. And speaking of which, Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer were all influenced by Venom, and Metallica even toured with them.

So, Welcome to Hell, Kill em' All and Show No Mercy are not Thrash Metal?! For God's sake, Megadeth isn't even close to have invented, or at least set up an example for a future subgenre, unlike Metallica, Slayer and even Anthrax. This comment is as hilarious as it doesn't make any sense!

He's probably saying Dave Mustaine deserves credit for writing songs from Kill 'em All, but that wasn't even the beginning of thrash.

Venom released Welcome to Hell in 1981.

Metal Church released their Red Skies demo in 1981.

Overkill wrote some of their earliest songs including The Beast Within in 1981.

Probably the person who commented this wanted to say that Dave Mustaine invented thrash metal, because he had the misconception that Metallica created thrash metal with Kill 'em All, and another misconception that everything on Kill 'em All was written by Mustaine.

Looking from any given angle, this comment is just its author's way of saying Dave should get all the songwriting credit for Kill 'Em All, which is still vastly untrue, since Dave only co-wrote 6 Metallica songs; only four of them being on Kill 'Em All, and the other two on Ride the Lightning.

10 "metal sucks it's nothing but screaming about killing people, I'm surprised you people even call it music. You guys need to listen to some drake and educate yourselves."

Metal singers don't talk about killing people 95% of the time and their lyrics are far superior, original and different from song to song, from album to album and from band to band. Pop and rap artists of today can't even compare/compete with Metal, because their lyrics are just unoriginal and tasteless. Look at Taylor Swift: most of her songs are about her or her breaking up with some fool. (I'm not saying all pop / rap is bad, but all I'm saying is Metal is a step above them).

I am pretty sure that the metal song Wheel Of Time by Blind Guardian contains more music than any Drake song. So I don't think I need to "educate myself". Most probably the author of this comment needs to "educate" himself and should start with the fact that most of the metal songs aren't "screaming about killing people".

Yeah well, Drake ain't that great either. His vocal and lyrical delivery is rather limited and much of his discography is mediocre at best. A much more better representative is Kendrick Lamar. And why are people's thoughts on Metal so backwards?

Whoever made this comment has clearly never listened to a single Opeth song. Actually no, he/she has probably never listened to a Metallica song. Or maybe never even listened to Metal at all but some brainless soccer mom raised them.

The Contenders
11 "I have not listened to their songs [death] but I have heard of the band. I am much more of a mainstream pop fangirl." - list description to a list this author made about the band Death

(list - Best Death Songs with Which to Shock Mainstream Pop Fans).
Shortly, the autor of this list had not listened to Death songs but made a list about them... No wonder she put Voice of the Soul at #2 - a soft instrumental that wouldn't shock anyone.

Why would you make a list about something you don't know about?

Pretty sure this person is trolling. Not a very funny attempt though.

12 "I Already Know How to Play Guitar Solos. All You Do is Play Random Notes as Fast as You Can."

I know how to play the violin. Just put it to your neck, and pull the fiddle back and forward.

I know how to play electronic music. Just press some buttons.

I know how to play a trombone. Just blow in it and pull that stick on the bottom.

I know how to play TheTopTens. Just choose a topic and throw in a title and ten things from it.

You need a technical playing.
Guitar solos aren't notes mindlessly mixed up together, so this quote is far from truem

Ever heard of feeling in playing solos? Listen to Pink Floyd.

13 "he was an amazing person" - about Michael Jackson

Here are a few facts regarding the molestation thing.

Tom Sneddon falsified evidence by letting Garvin Arvizo get his hand without gloves in Michael's adult magazines.

Evan Chandler recorded an audiotape where he said he can ruin Michael's legacy and fame.

Wade Robson and James Safechuck are proven not credible, due to their body languages and their reasons to lie, how they changed their lies, etc.

The Arvizos are capable to target not only Michael Jackson, but also celebrities before him.

Garvin and Starr Arvizo went to the rooms, where they shouldn't be.

Personally I can go on forever, but I think that's enough to cast a SERIOUS doubt over molestation.
So conclusion, he is not a person you're looking for.

14 "mozart performed many musical concerts while he's deaf"

I just found another comment about Mozart being deaf (alread added it to the list): "Come on guys he was deaf for christ aches give him respect". This is when YouTube wannabe-funnies write comments like "He performed the Four Seasons on saxophone in London while being deaf". Wait... I have also seen a comment stating he wrote the Four Seasons.

Brilliant addition to this list, galaxyfox! Thanks!

15 "ok name me one good metal song why because there are no good metal songs"

I noticed this bad logic in more places that people justify their opinions by repeating the same opinion in a different form.

Iron man, paranoid, master of puppets, sanitarium, one, almost every pantera song ever, I stand alone, like dude.

The Trooper, Tornado of Souls, One, Painkiller, Blitzkrieg... honestly I could go on forever.

Look up One. That is a good metal song. There are also many more.

16 "Grunge is a subgenre of metal."

What?

Grunge does have some Heavy Metal influence, but that doesn't cut it. Then again...

This comment actually made me laugh. It was way off, but extremely funny just to read.

Since metal is not a subgenre of rock, we shouldn't be surprised.

17 "The album that invented prog." - about Abbey Road by the Beatles

We can't definitively say which album cemented what prog is. The concept developed over time, although I consider the first early stages of prog to have come from Miles Davis.

1. Abbey Road precedes In the Court of the Crimson King by less than a month.
2. It's definitely prog.

The Beatles are the real inventors of prog. King Crimson just copied them.

This album prog? LOLOLOLOL it's not prog at all and it surly didn't invent it another reason why beatles fans are so ignorant.
List best Beatles albums

Correction: In the Court of the Crimson King was the album that invented prog.

18 "If this song isn't everyone's favorite song then it's severely underrated." - about Stairway to Heaven

Now this is an idiotic comment. To say that a song must be the favorite song of EVERYONE in the world (even people who do not speak a language that this song has been translated into, or those who have not heard it) in order to be properly rated is ridiculous on so many levels. Much of music, especially in the terms of favorite songs, is completely subjective. This statement denies all of that subjectivity (part of what makes music so great- it is often about interpretation) just to say that someone's favorite song is objectively the best.

I think people shouldn't even be allowed to make songs anymore because they would overshadow the infinite greatness this single song holds on its own. It should be the only song in the world, and it should be played everywhere, in every street in every small village 24/7, in people's sleep, but it would still be the most underrated song of all time!

19 "guns n' roses is a metal band not hard rock"

You can find some Heavy Metal elements in their more heavier songs and they're sometimes even considered Glam Metal. I find them to be the best example of Hard Rock during the 80s, but some Heavy Metal traits can be found in some songs.

Name one metal song by Guns N' Roses, oh wait there isn't one. Even their heaviest song isn't metal. If a band is considered metal, they must have several metal songs

The truth is: they are hard rock and not metal.
On top of that, this insightful comment on Guns N' Roses is placed in the Led Zeppelin comment section!

20 "Comparing queen to the Beatles or even LZ is patently absurd." - about Freddie Mercury

The Beatles: generic, boring, they suck, and they are criminally overrated
Led Zeppelin: the singer’s voice is aggravating, they suck, and they are criminally overrated
Queen: good band, great band members, songs are good but can be generic, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the most overrated pieces of music on EARTH

Another comment made by "the troll" we all hate

List Greatest People in the History of rock music

I have a friend who thinks that.
I do like LZ and The Beatles better than Queen though.

21 "no one likes lame metal music. Compared to metal, breadwinners is 100000000X times better." - about Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd, never once in their career, played "metal music." They were a psychedelic rock band that eventually involved into art-rock over time.

Hell, their heaviest song, "The Nile Song", can't even be considered metal and is acid rock.

This comment suffers from what many of the others suffer, the use of an absolute such as "no one", and then it proceeds to make an unrelated claim about "breadwinners"? Is it talking about Breadwiners? If it is, it doesn't even spell it correctly!

Breadwinners? You mean that cartoon? How can you compare a genre and a cartoon?

22 "metal music is not a sub genre of rock."

God I cringe at looking at that comment because it's a old Jeffery0206 comment I had no idea why I was in this damn mindset...

I love how the author defends this claim to death, but never gave one reason to support it. No reasons, no sources, no credibility

It, technically is. It's hard rock, but heavier.

I didn't think it was, is it not? I see how it is but never though about it. 10/2/17

23 "freddie mercury was good, but definitely not one of the best rock singers of all time"

I agree.
He's really good, but I've heard better singers. Rob Halford also has a four octave range and many singers I know have just a more appealing voice to me.

I respect this opinion, but Freddie had a unique voice. He's definitely up there with the best. If not, who are better than him?

Why is this item here? It is just an opinion. He/she still likes Queen, just not the most.

24 "they began the grunge music, they are grunge, they should be number 1, shows how many morons there are that they're not. To even vote for the alice in chains makes you a moron, not as dumb as the 3% that voted for the melvins and their back stabbing..."

Because Nirvana is the Second Coming? Kurt Cobain died for our taste in music and to invigorate the Grunge movement? THEY ARE GRUNGE?!

I mean, this post-fame is just ridiculous. I like some of their songs, but this over-glorification is a seminal example to show why Nirvana is overrated. Neither of the Grunge Big Four "invented" Grunge, they just helped in development and popularity for contemporary musicians and fans. I'd even argue that bands inspired by and derived from them, such as Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace are better.

In addition, Melvins and Green River deserve their reputation for laying the groundwork. And Soundgarden is the best example of Grunge's talent and fame.

I couldn't post the whole comment so heres the rest of it the part that made me put this on the list
"But still to vote for anyone before voting for Nirvana shows you lack of an I.Q".
So apparently everyone who votes for anything but Nirvana on that list is a moron, once again a reason why Nirvana is so overrated and they didn't begin grunge music Green River Did so if anything the person who made this comment is a moron who lacks musical knowledge
List Best Grunge Bands item: Nirvana

It seems to me that this whole comment was made just to make people angry. No real grunge fan would say stuff like this.

What would be funnier than comments like this one? Keep 'em coming guys, we need fun!

25 "The damage his music has done to my ears is at least ten times worse than the Holocaust." - about Justin Bieber

This should be #1. To compare one of the greatest tragedies in human history to a singer is insensitive and ignorant. Not only that, but if the commenter actually had their ears damaged, that means that the commenter had been listening to a lot of Justin Bieber. You can't hide from me, secret Bel-ieber!

I think this ought to be in the top 10 many of the comments ahead are actually alright they are more just unpopular but still kind of valid opinions. This comment is just ridiculous on any level.

I have never heard anybody say this nor have I seen it on social media.
