Best Male British / Scottish / English Music Artists of All Time

Best of any genre or of any era (the variables include having a unique voice, having the abilities to write, having voice quality, range, and annunciation). I put band name next to artist, some never had an official "band" and some had more then the ones I posted, but, I only posted ones I knew about. And, if it says "Solo Artist" that is NOT a name of a band, it is meant to be of literal terms.

I also commented on all the members of the list. This list is objective so vote if you think I'm wrong. :)

So...
The Top Ten
1 Freddy Mercury (Queen)

Obvious. Much better than Lennon and McCartney together.

FREDDIE! (not Freddy)

Over-rated and over-praised, not even the best of their late-70's time frame, much less the greatest of all time. Thank God the Beatles sold 10X more records and are 100X more popular.

The best, the best, the best. never can be surpassed

2 Robbie Williams (Solo Artist / Take That )

An amazing, powerful voice and one of the best Entertainers.

He's controversial and unique and gets my vote

Not a fan but he is very good all the same

I just love him that's all

3 Robert Plant (Solo Artist/Led Zeppelin) Robert Anthony Plant (born 20 August 1948) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the rock band Led Zeppelin.

An amazing voice. I'm not just saying he is the best because he was in a great band, but because he has THE most amazing voice a brit has ever had. Not to mention a very unique one.

4 John Lennon (Solo Artist/The Beatles) John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 - 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. He was assassinated by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980 at age 40. Lennon was characterised by the rebellious nature and acerbic wit in his music, writing and drawings, on film, and in interviews. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history.

A great voice and legend.

5 Paul McCartney (Solo Artist/Wings/The Beatles)

Couldn't decide weather Lennon was a better singer or McCartney was, So they're kinda tied for 3rd.

6 Chris Martin (Coldplay)

Not the most unique but the writing skills, voice, vocal range put him on here.

7 Ozzy Osbourne (BlackSabbath/Solo Artist)

A deep dark writer with an amazing voice.

8 Mick Jagger (Rolling Stones) Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger is an English singer, songwriter, and actor, best known as the lead vocalist and a co-founder of the Rolling Stones.

A great showman and singer (i'm not a huge fan, vote if you think he should be higher)

9 Elton John (Solo Artist)

His writing is amazing, and although he does have a fairly unique voice, (it might just be that I'm not a fan) but I think he has a good place here at #8. But everyone else can decide wether I am correct. (I made this list)

Brilliant artist still going strong after more than 50 years in the music business.

10 David Gilmour (Solo Artist/ Pink Floyd) David Jon Gilmour is an English singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He joined the progressive rock band Pink Floyd as guitarist and co-lead vocalist in 1968.
The Contenders
11 Roger Waters (Pink Floyd/ Solo Artist) George Roger Waters is an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He is mostly known for being the secondary lead vocalist and bassist of Pink Floyd.
12 David Bowie David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie (January 8, 1947 - January 10, 2016) was an English singer born in London, the son of a fundraiser and a waitress. He is credited for his experimental and creative musical discography which has won praise and accolades for many critics and fans. The man who the world knew as David Bowie was an actor, a painter, a philosopher, and many other things. But first and foremost, and what he was known for most, he was a rock star, covering every genre from psychedelic folk to industrial. His influence on fashion, music, and pop culture in general remains as his legacy--along, of course, with his unforgettable music.
