Top Ten Mario Enemies

The Top Ten
1 Bowser Bowser is the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. Franchise. From kidnapping Princess Peach to simply destroying a fun game between Mario and Friends in the Mario Party spinoff series, this king of the Koopas has set up a certain hatred towards himself amongst the large cast of Mario Characters. He first... read more

Bowser's a very well-written, powerful, and almighty character. Ruler of the Koopa Kingdom and controls the armies, capturer of Peach, and always the main antagonist of Mario games, this guy is a pretty big deal.

Listen up everybody, Bowser is the greatest character of ALL TIME! He breathes fire, he's powerful and he's all around epic! Bowser is 9 million times better than Mario! No wait, a kazillion times better!

If you don't think bowser is more powerful than Mario, you'd better go see a doctor immediately.

2 Hammer Bros. The Hammer Bro is a recurring enemy in the Mario video game series which is a Koopa that walks upright and attacks by throwing hammer projectiles at the player.

I actually hate Hammer Bros. They throw hammers, anytime I play Mario Maker I always die at least once to these guys, and trying to do parkour while these guys throw hammers is true Hell.

Unlike most enemies, you have to be scared when you see a Hammer Bro./Fire Bro./Ice Bro. I would pick Bowser, but I classify him as a boss, not an enemy.

They're hard in the 2d games. The best one are the giant ones that throw hammers 2 times as bigger than the normal hammer brother does.

3 Goomba Goombas, known in Japan as Kuribo, are a species of sentient mushrooms from Nintendo's Mario franchise.

Ah, a classic. Truly the greatest. These enemies will never give up trying to take out Mario, knowing full and well that they can be beat by a stomp. These fellas are epic.

Goombas are my favorite Mario enemies. Doesn't Bowser ever give Goombas some credit? How hard do you think Goombas work in order to stop Mario? Well, they've been around since 1985, so they've got be to considered to be awesome Mario enemies. Goombas rule!

They are the brave, unspoken, soldiers that face the beast that can defeat there King.

And they look cool

4 Dry Bones Dry Bones is a common enemy species in the Super Mario series of video games since „Super Mario Bros. 3“ (1988). After his first debut as a playable character in „Mario Superstar Baseball“ (2005), he became a fan-favorite and also got playable in other spin-offs of the Mario series.

My favorite character in all of the mario kart games and my favorite sprite in the normal games. Latiku makes a close second, though...

Such a simple but clever idea Dry Bones was! If you don't love it, you have absolutely no life.

I really don't know why. I love dry bones.

5 Koopa Troopa Koopa Troopas, or just simply Koopas, known in Japan as Nokonoko, are a fictional race of turtle-like creatures from the Mario series, as well as its sister Yoshi series. They most often appear as common ground enemies.

He's my favourite Mario enemy. He's cool cute and awesome tied with hammer bro kamek lakitu dry bones and paratroopa. He should be no1. And I wish there are more super koopa games. Not just a koopa's revenge.

This guy, aside from being cute, tends to take Mario's side whenever he can. I mean, once he's stomped on, he's a KILLER WEAPON.

It's interesting how many versions have been made of him, and the only one better than him is DRY BONES!

6 Boo

All these enemies look cartoony and fun, but nothing even compares to the Boo, the cutest Mario character by far. I also like how Boos behave, only coming towards Mario when he's facing away from the little ghosts, and covering their faces when Mario turns toward them. Adorable!

I like Magikoopas and Hammer bros. too, but the Boos are probably my favorite. I loved Luigi's Mansion and I've heard that four Gamecube titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch Virtual console. These titles are: Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash bros. Melee, and Animal Crossing.

7 Chain Chomp Chain Chomps, known as Wanwan in Japan, are metal, barking ball-and-chain like creatures that are restrained by Chains and are a main enemy in the Mario franchise.

Here's a little history. Chain Chomps are inspired by a childhood memory by Shigeru Miyamoto. He saw a dog that tried to attack him, but it was chained up. Look at these giant guys. BARK! BARK!

Ruff ruff! Ruff ruff! See. He's not annoying but he does make dog bark.

I don't know why, but I really like chain chomps.

8 Bowser Jr Bowser Jr., or sometimes simply Jr., is a video game character who appears in Nintendo's Mario franchise as the secondary antagonist. He is the youngest son of the series' primary antagonist, Bowser.

He may look cute, but he's smarter than his father. Make fun of Bowser Jr and he'll build a machine to smash your face in.

He is a pretty good semi villain and helps Bowser steal peach every time

9 Fire Bros.
10 Lemmy Koopa The youngest of the seven original children of the Koopa King. Lemmy has always been fascinated by the circus and acrobatic acts and so he's made it his life's calling. Lemmy dreams of showing the world his incredible physical feats and never passes up a chance to gain a captive audience. Though he... read more
The Contenders
11 Piranha Plant The Piranha Plant, known as the Pakkun Flower in Japan, is a plant species from the Mario franchise which usually appears as a leafy green stalk topped with a white-spotted red or green globe, with a maw lined with sharp teeth reminiscent of piranhas.

This is the only Mario classic that lives in a pipe, or in one of the 3D Mario games, they are pink and jump at you from a swamp of poison. These enemy are impossible to defeat in 2D Mario games. Instead of killing them when you jump on them, they take a life away, but if you have a mushroom you turn into small Mario. This is a very, VERY good classic.

They are so funny I love them so much I have a miral on my wall and a stuffed plant from San Jose, California.

The fact that this mook got into Smash Ultimate before Waluigi makes this guy even more memorable.

12 Shy Guy Shy Guys are an enemy from the Mario and Yoshi series that have been seen in many games, and they are masked because of their shyness.

Shy guy is the masked man of Mario. He is not the most classic of the enemies but he is definitely the most working for bowser. In the more recent Paper Mario game, they take color from stars, and the town in general, there for he works for bowser. He is an amazing enemy!

Yeah toast. That's my favourite quote from the smg4 series. He loves toast so much and his face moves in Mario strikers charged football

They are shy and mysterious, you never know that kind of thoughts they may have. Plus they are adorable.

13 Wiggler Wigglers are a species of caterpillar in the Mario franchise. They have a segmented body and comically large nose and are yellow slowly moving when happy, but turn red and run angrily very quickly if they get jumped on

Wiggler is a god. We will eat the faces alive of anybody who opposes him. He went onto mario kart becuase if he didn't go onto it he will eat all mario characters and vaporize the whole mushroom kingdom. He will reign supreme won day and destroy mario and bowsers army. He keeps the bodys of the billions he killed in his vault of power

To add onto what the wiggler does... he has recently destroyed the city that 100 million people live in and he only let the piranha plants live because the plants are almost as strong as the wiggler

14 Lakitu Lakitu, known in Japan as Jugem, is a fictional flying character in the Mario franchise. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, it first appeared in the Nintendo Entertainment System video game Super Mario Bros., where it dropped enemies called Spinies on the stage.

Look at that face, who could say no to him?

A Koopa in a cloud, what not to love?

15 Dry Bowser Dry Bowser is the fossilized version of the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. Franchise, Bowser. He first appeared in New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DS after Bowser had been dumped into the lava and was left with his skeleton. Since then, Dry Bowser has appeared as a villain in games like Super... read more

He shoots blue fire, is fire resistant, and is basically immortal. Why not

Spooky, scary skeletons that shivers down your spine, but it's bowser

16 Bob-omb Bob-ombs are a species found throughout the Mario series. They are small bomb-shaped beings who can create explosions by detonating themselves or being detonated.

I don't think he should be #1 I'm saying if there was a list on the most adorable Mario enemies ever he would be #1. But I do think he should be at least #10 or 12

BOOM! That's right. These high explosives can blow up right in Mario's face. However, not all of the Bob-ombs are bad. There are Bob-omb buddies, which are friendly Bob-ombs.

Brave soldiers. Sacrificing themselves in the name of King Bowser Koopa. We salute you.

17 Wario Wario is a character in Nintendo's Mario series who was originally designed as an antagonist to Mario. His motives are driven by greed and he will take the side of whoever will give him the most pay. Although he may seem like just a mean man with no heart, he does have a very tragic past.

Voting him because he was sorta an enemy at one point.

He totally cheated to get here.

18 Ludwig von Koopa Ludwig Von Koopa is a villain in the Super Mario Franchise. He is the self-proclaimed leader of the Koopalings and has a pompous and arrogant personality. He is said to have all the powers of the other six Koopalings. He can clone himself, cause earthquakes, teleport, and shoot lightning bolts from... read more
19 Kamek Kamek is a common enemy in the Mario Bros. Franchise. He usually appears in New Super Mario Bros. Games, Super Mario Bros. Games, or other similar games. He also appears in spinoff titles, like Mario Party, in which he is not a playable character but creates an obstacle for the players on their way... read more
20 Blooper Bloopers (Often Referred To Bloobers Until Paper Mario, Though Blooper was in use beforehand) are Squid-Like creatures that are found in the ocean. They made their first appearance in Super Mario Bros., and various kinds of them have appeared in the Mario games since, normally as enemies. Mario Party... read more

Blooper needs a brother: Boo! Blooper is a squid (squid are awesome) Blooper is white, just like Boo. And Blooper can fly, just like Boo. See what I mean?

I love blooper also! Because I like squids!

21 Koopa Paratroopas

He's cooler than koopa troopa because he has a red shell and shoes and wings. Yes he's a clone of koopa but they team up in Mario power tennis and Mario kart double dash

22 Petey Piranha Petey Piranha is a large mutant of the Piranha Plant in the Super Mario franchise and debuted in Super Mario Sunshine. Since then, he has been a recurring boss in games such as New Super Mario Bros. and has also made appearances in sports and spin-off games.

He is the strongest of the piranha plant and he survived the wiggler genocide with all the other piranha plants.

A boss technically, but I'll vote anyways.

He should be much higher on this list.

23 Paratroopa Koopa Paratroopas, also known as Sky Troopas, Para-Koopas, or simply Paratroopas, are winged versions of the Koopa Troopa in the Mario franchise. They lose their wings when they are stomped or jumped on in the air, turning them into normal Koopa Troopas.
24 Boomerang Bros.
25 Thwomp

This enemy is better than Whomp. If Thwomps & Whomps were in a death battle, the Thwomps would probably win. All the Whomps do is walk & land on their faces, while Thwomps can smash right on the ground. Hey, Screw Attack! Please have a Thwomp & a Whomp fight each other in Death Battle.

These guys are kinda terrifying actually. Not only because of that facial expression but also because of how it's big, spiky body is ready to crush you down into a hole-y pancake. Jeez.
