Best Metal Bands Starting With the Letter D

The Top Ten
1 Dio Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio, after he left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath member, drummer Vinny Appice.

@ryan, Dream Theater and Death aren't my favorite D bands but they are very good (I believe the best) and I rated them very high. I personally like better Dead Brain Cells, Dark Angel and Death Angel just because I prefer thrash to prog and death metal. And I really love Demons & Wizards because 90% of their stuff is brilliant.

@Metal_Treasure, I also put aside my personal preferences for lists. Dio isn't my favorite 'D metal band', I prefer Death, Deicide, and Dream Theater personally. But in terms of greatness, it goes to Dio. They were one of the most consistent bands through the 80s, they were very popular.

I don't mind Dio the band at #1 but I tried to be objective - I always do it (often against my personal preferences, especially when the question is who is the best and not who's your favorite). I think this band should be at #3.

I put dio at #1, I don't see how anyone is better
