These Metal Singers May Sound Like Other Metal Singers, or Other Non-metal Singers.

Format:
New singer, band - old singer, band,
Which means that the new/younger singer sounds like some more popular or older singer.
The Top Ten
1 Tobias Sammet, Edguy - Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden Tobias Sammet is a German metal musician, best known as the vocalist and primary songwriter of the power metal band Edguy, as well as the founder, main singer and bassist of the metal opera Avantasia.

I also made a list to make things clearer - Top 10 Edguy Songs that Could Be on Iron Maiden Albums

Tobias Sammet sounds like Bruce Dickinson with a hint of Michael Kiske.
Edguy - Nailed To The Wheel, Sacrifice.

2 Ralf Scheepers, Primal Fear - Rob Halford, Judas Priest

Proof:
Scheepers - Before The Dawn (solo album, 2011)
Primal Fear - Strike, Metal Gods (Judas Priest cover).

3 Jorn Lande - David Coverdale, Whitesnake, Deep Purple Jørn Lande is a Norwegian metal and hard rock singer known for his solo career as Jorn, and providing vocals for Avantasia, Masterplan, Ark, Beyond Twilight, Millenium, Allen/Lande, Mundanus Imperium, Vagabond, The Snakes, Ayreon.

Jorn - Stormbringer, Burn (Deep Purple covers)
Jorn - Fool for your loving (Whitesnake cover)

Best vocalist of all time...

4 Stu Block, Iced Earth - Matt Barlow, Iced Earth Stuart "Stu" Block is a Canadian singer-songwriter, who was the frontman for Canadian progressive death metal band Into Eternity, and is now the lead vocalist for American heavy metal band Iced Earth.

I have no problem either. I actually think this similarity is good for Iced Earth. Stu sings the song Raven Wing almost with Matt's voice.

He does sound like barlow, but only becuase Schaffer makes him imitate him

I have no problem with that actually

5 Michael Poulsen, Volbeat - James Hetfield, Metallica Michael Schøn Poulsen is a Danish vocalist and guitarist. He is currently the singer and main songwriter of the band Volbeat.

Volbeat sounds like a hound dog and a donkey that finishes every bellow by hacking up a hairball he picked up where creed left off and actually sounds worse Metallica was one of the original frontrunners for showing the world what rock really is and they put the art in artist the fact someone would remotely think to compare them does a huge discredit to rock bands and rock fans world wide and accross the decades...shame on you

@visitor - you didn't get the idea of this list correctly. We don't compare Metallica and Volbeat, neither how good singers are. We are talking about how similar they sound. Michael Poulsen definitely sounds similar to Hetfield and there are many materials on the internet about this similarity.

Poulsen sounds like Cher, when she sings in the lower register. A friend pointed this out to me and now I can't listen to them, which sucks. Because Volbeat is actually a decent band. But I just can't come to terms with "Cher" singing metal.

MSP sounds like an ANGEL (REBEL) his lyrics can't be touched, they actually make sense and always tell a story - my story. ALL MY LOVE MICHAEL = MUSIC SAVES! XOXOXO

6 Michael Kiske, Helloween - Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden

But at the same time there's a big difference - Kiske has no aggression in the voice. Tobias Sammet has aggression and therefore Sammet is closer to Dickinson than Kiske.

Just listened to the Keeper of the Seven Keys (Helloween). Yes, they sound quite similar.

Sings like Bruce but more cleaning, and Scream like 70s Rob Halford.

7 Glenn Danzig, Danzig - Jim Morrison, The Doors Glenn Danzig is an American singer, songwriter, and musician from Lodi, New Jersey. He is the founder of the bands Misfits, Samhain and Danzig. He owns the Evilive record label as well as Verotik, an adult-oriented comic book publishing company.

Sounds like a heavier and darker version of Jim Morrison.
Danzig - Mother, Am I Demon, How The Gods Kill.

8 Hansi Kürsch, Blind Guardian - Dio Hansi Kürsch, born Hans Jürgen Kürsch, is the lead singer, lyricist, co-composer and bassist for German power metal band Blind Guardian . Heavily influenced by Freddie Mercury, he creates a huge choir effect by overdubbing his own voice multiple times in complex, overlapping vocal harmonies. He records each vocal track individually because harmonizers and "perfect pitch" programs don't work with his voice due to distortion and the natural double layer effects his vocal cords have .
His early technique made use of a more aggressive and harsher, "screaming" technique . ...read more.

He's a vocal chameleon and can sound like several singers but most notably:

1) Sounds like Dio (proof: Blind Guardian - Don't Talk To Strangers).
Hansi's voice is the closest possible to Dio's voice: almost same range and as a bonus - placed in absolutely same register.
Even Hansi's speaking voice sounds like Dio's.

2) Sounds like Robert Plant (proof: Demons & Wizards - Immigrant Song).

9 André Matos, Angra - Michael Kiske, Helloween
10 Diego Valdez, Skiltron - Ronnie James Dio, Dio/Rainbow

Thanks for this addition, zxm. I agree - I even wrote it several times, including on the list Top 10 Helker Songs.
I first heard Diego vocals in the band Helker.

The Contenders
11 Mark Tornillo, Accept - Brian Johnson, AC/DC

Mark Tornillo is their newest singer who joined the band in 2009 and in 2010 Accept released probably the best comeback metal album I know.

Accept - Shades Of Death, Pandemic, Teutonic Terror.

12 Jorn Lande - Ian Gillan, Deep Purple Jørn Lande is a Norwegian metal and hard rock singer known for his solo career as Jorn, and providing vocals for Avantasia, Masterplan, Ark, Beyond Twilight, Millenium, Allen/Lande, Mundanus Imperium, Vagabond, The Snakes, Ayreon.

Jorn - Perfect Strangers (Deep Purple cover)

13 Tim 'Ripper' Owens - Paul Di'Anno, ex-Iron Maiden Timothy S. "Ripper" Owens is an American heavy metal singer who first gained attention as the lead singer of Judas Priest, and then Iced Earth. He took the nickname "Ripper" from the Judas Priest song "The Ripper" during his time in the tribute band "British Steel". He currently performs with Beyond Fear, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force and Charred Walls of the Damned.

Tim 'Ripper' Owens - Flight Of Icarus (Iron Maiden cover).
Paul Di'Anno would sing this song just like Tim 'Ripper' did.

14 Michael Kiske, Helloween - Geoff Tate, Queensryche
15 John Bush, Anthrax - Layne Staley, Alice in Chains

One reason I like John Bush better than Joey is that he sounds like Layne Staley from Alice in Chains just listen to Sound of White Noise that album sounds pretty simular to something Alice in Chains would do

Somebody actually sounds like Layne?

16 Tobias Sammet, Edguy - Michael Kiske, Helloween

Tobias Sammet sounds like a blend of Bruce Dickinson and Michael Kiske

17 Jorn Lande - Bob Catley

I don't think so

18 Timo Kotipelto, Stratovarius - Michael Kiske, Helloween

Yes, even some of the earliest Stratovarius songs are Helloween rip-offs.

19 Billy Squier - Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin

They aren't metal singers and shouldn't be on this list.

20 Michael Kiske, Helloween - Dave Mustaine, Megadeth

Is this a joke? Or a troll item? Or added by somebody who needs hearing aid?

21 Tommy Karevik - Roy Khan
22 John Arch, Fates Warning - Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden
