Most Dangerous Countries In the World

The Top Ten
1 Somalia Somalia, officially the Federal Republic of Somalia, is a country in the Horn of Africa. The country is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Kenya to the southwest. Somalia has the longest coastline on Africa's mainland. Its terrain consists mainly of plateaus, plains, and highlands. Hot conditions prevail year-round,... read more

A few months ago was listening on the radio to a BBC foreign correspondent who was reporting on his recent visit to Somalia. Surprisingly he found much of the country was apparently quite orderly, and he remarked that he had been to other places in his career which he found much less safe and much more dangerous, such as parts of Nigeria and parts of Mexico.

Well part of the reason Somalis have turned to the high seas for resources is because their country has been completely and repeatedly torn apart by war, famine and unrest.
this poor country is just another country killed and manipulated by America, at least its improving a bit over time.
Just a country left behind and never saved.

I have to steer clear from this country. The coast is filled with pirates. There's no central government that supports the whole country. The country is divided between many factions. Each faction is run by a warlord. If anyone travels there, then see you on other side.

2 Iraq Iraq, officially the Republic of Iraq, is a country in Western Asia. Iraq is currently led by President Fuad Masum and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. It is currently ranked 160th in the Institute for Economics & Peace's Global Peace Index, making it one of the most dangerous countries in the world (behind only South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Syria).

Ok, I would like to announce that somehow, a lot of people were saying hate comments about Adam Saleh on the most hated religions in the world list and other hated religions list. I don't know why but I obviously know why because it was on the news last year, and yeah they were right. Adam Saleh is a hater and a huge liar. He is nearly as selfish as Hitler!

First Iraq was safe and calm but when america army attack it, Iraq became unsecure and terrible, I think sources of all insecurity in the world are america and Israel.

Please think about this issue very carefully that, in each country there is insecurity and war america paricipate it.

Agree, and I'll give you an explanation why. I understand that yes, America and other countries fought bravely in many wars: American Revolution, Civil War, First & Second World Wars, you name it. But I still think we shouldn't go to Iraq, same thing goes for Vietnam and Afghanistan.

3 Syria Syria, officially the Syrian Arab Republic, is a Western Asian country located in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Levant. It is a unitary republic that consists of 14 governorates (subdivisions), and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east and southeast, Jordan to the south, and Israel and Lebanon to the southwest. Cyprus lies to the west across the... read more

I am so saddened by what has happened in Syria (and Iraq and Libya) and also being British I regret the part that our country has played in all this. Just as we were all told that "regime change" was what was needed in Iraq and Libya, we are now same in regard to Syria. IF we could just get rid of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and Colonel Gaddafi in Libya, then all would be sweetness and light in those countries and they would soon become beacons of peace and democracy, or so we were told. Well, we have all seen what has happened in those countries following "regime change". And yet many politicians in the U.K and other countries still stick to the line that all we need in Syria is "regime change" to get rid of President Assad. Yeah right - they are away with the fairies if they think we are going to swallow this bunkum for a third time.

Bashar al-Assad is bombing, gassing, striking and attacking civilian villages and killing hundreds of innocent bystanders. The ongoing conflict known as the Syrian Civil War is truly sad to see, especially with the photos of burned kids in Aleppo and people dying in the streets for no good reason. I know world leaders are trying very hard to end the war, but it isn't ending any time soon. So, this is why I ask you, WHY IS SYRIA NUMBER 4? Nothing is really going on in Iraq recently, the same said for Somalia and Afghanistan. I'm just saying, this low?

4 Afghanistan Afghanistan, officially the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central and South Asia. Referred to as the Heart of Asia, it is bordered by Pakistan to the east and south, Iran to the west, Turkmenistan to the northwest, Uzbekistan to the north, Tajikistan to the northeast, and China to the northeast and east. Occupying 652,864 square kilometers (252,072... read more

Land mines, malaria, lack of government, lack of resources, extreme poverty, famished, malnutrition, illnesses, drugs and religous radicals known as the Taliban make this country by far the worst place on Earth to live. Don't underestimate any of those I've listed, research will show you each one is the worst in it's class. Afghanistan leads the world in malaria cases, active land mines, and poverty. Their number one crop is opium! Americans will pay out a federal salary to local nationals to earn hard cheddar by performing hard labor, digging ditches in 120+summers all day should be worth more than a handsome $7! That's right, apparently making 7 US dollars is well worth a hard days sun!

Yes even though it's my birth country and where I was from, I agree it's dangerous, that's why I moved to Australia here, it's peaceful and beautiful but I do miss all those delicious fruits and the land itself. My Uncle, aunties, cousins and grandparents live there and I sorrowly miss them. It's been nearly 4 years now since I came to Australia, I came to Australia when I was 6, I now am 10. My parents are thinking of going to Afghanistan for a holiday to visit out family members but I personally am scared and don't think it's safe. We haven't visited Afghanistan since we came here and I do want to visit it badly but apparently on the other hand, I'm terrified.

5 North Korea The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea, is a country in Eastern Asia. Its capital is Pyongyang. It is currently ruled by the Juche leader Kim Jong-Un, after inheriting the title from his father, Kim Jong-Il, who in turn inherited it from his father, Kim Il-Sung.

North Korea's population as of February 18th, 2017 is 25,360,273.

North Korea is the third most... read more

They spend all the money on weapons so most of the people are starving and poor. Fat ass Kim Jong Un eats all the rice, fat bastard

I was actually surprised at how easy it is to escape North Korea, it's as simple as boarding a flight to Beijing, a non hostile relationship with a communist country, and from there going to another place. The problem is that the people are so brainwashed that they wouldn't know to do that, or that they're living deplorably. The country shouldn't even be called North Korea. South Korea shouldn't be called that either, the south is the only REAL Korea. The North shouldn't even be recognized as a country, it's a giant prison. And Shorty needs a bullet through his forehead. Can you get on that, Rodman? Make yourself useful for a change.

North Korea is way too corrupted. North Koreans are brainwashed, being told that their "eternal leader" is a god, and that Kim Jong Un controls the weather. People are starving, with some regions turning to cannibalism, and millions dying in a 1994-1998 famine. There's no freedom at all, and saying a bad word about the leader would get you killed. They threaten the US and South Korea, and have nuclear bombs. The Internet is completely banned. Law-breakers, including Internet users, Christians, people trying to escape, and rebels are put into prison camps which has conditions that you can compare to a Nazi concentration camp. Children and infants are killed, prisoners are brutally beat up, and people eating snakes to survive. Some even say that biological weapons are tested on them. There needs to be some changes.

6 Pakistan Pakistan was established in 1947 and is located in South Asia. Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar are other major cities of Pakistan. For country which owes its existence to Hatred towards non-Muslims, and for years which reared snakes in its backyard hoping that one day they bite their civilized neighbor, the things are now coming to full circle. It is a confused country which does not been recognize its forefathers, history and culture which was tolerant before they advent of barbarians. What a shame that they believe themselves to be loyal to their country despite hating their roots and ancestry. One thing is sure such a country and its inhabitants are doomed to face the consequences of the hate which they had sowed, unless better sense prevails!

7 South Sudan South Sudan, officially the Republic of South Sudan, is a landlocked country in northeastern Africa that gained its independence from Sudan in 2011. Its current capital is Juba, which is also its largest city. It is bordered to the east by Ethiopia, to the north by Sudan, to the west by the Central African Republic, to the southwest by Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south by Uganda and to... read more

South Sudan suffers from Poverty and is one of the most hungry nations in earth. Ever since South Sudanese independence, South Sudan has been full of deadly rebel groups trying to take over the country.

The newest country in the world is very dangerous and one of the least developed countries in the world. Widespread poverty too.

No wonder why it's struggling so much; it's the newest nation in the world, but it's developing backwards. Not developed at all still at war with Sudan

8 Yemen Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen, is a country in Western Asia, on the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Saudi Arabia to the north and Oman to the northeast and shares maritime borders with Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia. It is the second-largest Arab sovereign state in the peninsula, occupying 555,000 square kilometres (214,000 square miles). The coastline stretches for about... read more

The Poland of the Middle East, it is conquered and invaded all the time now. Let's see who did it the latest, shall we since the President was forced to step down and let the Houthis take charge:
1) Australia and Saudi Arabia (Australia is literally the USSR of the Middle East in terms of sheer military size) - Australia rushed Yemen with 500,000 troops in the beginning of 2015. JAS-39s were literally HAMMERING Yemen's capital day and night. Additionally, Saudi Arabia also got a lot of swipes in at Yemen. However, both suffered heavy lossses, with Australia losing 15 JAS-39s in the first year alone, including one Gripen which was shot down by an Iranian F-14. Saudi Arabia is also losing large numbers.
2) Qatar until they were kicked out of the GCC - Played a small role though.
3) UAE, but they have been far better at it than KSA.

Yemen is fighting one of the most brutal civil wars in history. The Yemeni government is fighting against Houthis Rebels supported by Iran and Terror Groups. Saudi Arabia is also launching many missiles at Yemen killing many civilians. You should avoid visiting Yemen.

9 Venezuela Venezuela, officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a federal republic located on the northern coast of South America.

If you watched the news for the past few months (when it was all over the news), it is pretty dangerous. There is a corrupt government, many street protests in response, crumbling economy (oil prices were getting lower), and (perhaps the worst thing) the inflation there is some of the worst in the world. We talked about the whole crisis during Spanish class this school year (as of 5/6/19). One of my former Spanish teachers is actually FROM Venezuela. When I asked one of my sisters who has her class if they talked about the Venezuela crisis, the said teacher almost cried. This is very understandable because it's her country. I am saddened by what happened and I hope it can do better.

Venezuela is defined the most dangerous countries in the americas. There is gang violence and bloody protests all around the countries. Venezuela is also very poor and many Venezuelans are starving. Venezuela is also a corrupt country and many people are suppressed.

10 Israel Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a country in Western Asia. It is situated on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern shore of the Red Sea, and shares borders with Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan to the east, and Egypt to the southwest; it is also bordered by the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to the east and west, respectively. Tel Aviv is the economic and technological center of the country, while its seat of government is in its proclaimed capital of Jerusalem, although Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem is unrecognized internationally.

People why don't you understand that the biggest BULLIES of the world include USA and Israel when you honestly look at their leaders where and whatever they have their eyes on, its all for the wrong purposes. Yeah governments etc everywhere are corrupt but look into context then deny that USA hasnt contributed to putting these middle eastern and Asian countries top. Israel is no exception

This isn't a country. They occupied Palestine. Illegal country... Unfair child of america. They want unrest in Middle East to protect their existence and that's why Middle East is set on fire by usa. Just because Middle East have more Muslim population, they are targeted and stereotyped as terrorists. Nuke this country and world will be a more peaceful and secure

Israelis please sit down and stfu. We're not talking about the citizens. We're talking invasion. The Jews fled Europe and were welcomed into Palestine only to kick everyone out and make illegal settlements. The pain of the families of those butchered by Hitler is true. But so is the pain of the Palestinians who lost their homes and families. The Jews repeated history. They never learnt.

Israel is a country who killed so much innocent people in palestine mercilessly and Israel wants to spread terrorism in muslim countries mainly it has got favour from america otherwise this country was nothing more than a stupid, idiot and a foolish country.

The Contenders
11 Mexico Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a federal republic located in North America. The country is located between the U.S. and Central America, and is known for its Pacific and Gulf of Mexico beaches and its diverse landscape of mountains, deserts, and jungles.

I'd love to travel to Mexico but the thought of it scares the crap out of me, I was reading in the News Paper before, some cartel kidnapped An American man who was just on vacation down there with his wife for a few months. They tortured him, beat him, starved him and demanded his wife to pay a large amount of money if she was to ever see him alive again (I can't remember how much It was, but it was a lot of money) they kept him hostage for 4 months I think. He was only released once his wife had payed all the cash. He is Ok now. But No thank you I wont be travelling there any time soon.

Get this:

I'm Chicano (person of Hispanic trace living in the US) and my parents are from this country. They told his it was like living there and I could tell this country is horrible. I've does research and found out that there has been a drug war since 2006 between cartels and the police and continues to this day. Literally thousands of people die. Even worse, these cartels actually OWN the police by bribing them in the northern states. Yep, Mexico is a terrible place.

I disagree with the fact that Mexico is in 7th. They should be in 3rd due to the deaths caused by the cartels and Mexico is way more dangerous than the usa. Does USA have power gangs or a powerful military. No they don't. Just because Mexico lost in the Mexican American war doesn't mean they are more powerful. Mexico is a fierce country. The USA is no more dangerous than a little doll.

I'd say Mexico sould get out of this list soon. The security has improved since its worst year in Mexico due to violence on 2011. Some of the strongest cartels have been undone or finished. Most of the cartel's leaders have been captured and the corrupt police have been reduced and fired. I honestly think Mexico is improving and I'll say that it is now safe to live and safe to travel there

12 Libya Libya, officially the State of Libya, is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad and Niger to the south, and Algeria and Tunisia to the west.

Some people think USA is worse. Others think Israel is worse. Some think Pakistan is worse. But in reality, all of them are wrong, as Libya practically fell into anarchy in 2011 and is now a lethal battleground.

Libya has been fighting a civil war ever since the death of there former leader Gaddafi. There has been many terror attacks and there is so many sides fighting in the conflict.

It's extremely hot there, one place there is hotter than Australian summer (trust me, I'm Australian). And in 2011...

13 South Africa South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa, is the southernmost sovereign state in Africa. It is bounded on the south by 2,798 kilometers of coastline of Southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, on the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and on the east by Mozambique and Swaziland, and surrounding the kingdom of Lesotho.

Definitely not safe' my father was murdred in a church when he responded to a alarm as he was the sexton of the church. My partners wife was shot dead in the house in front of him and the grandchildren. My late husband was killed by a drunk policeman, and it ceases to amaze me that you never hear any of these murders solved and I'm talking years but that it is chosen to broadcast worldwide the Oscar trail, I wonder if the brave previously disadvantaged think they are scoring points in this world today by televising this case live! They should only be aloud this privledge when they start catching there fellow brothers who are aloud to committ these hanous crimes and roam free! It is sad for Oscar and Sherien Dewani that they will be the cases used to cover up the crimes the previously disadvantaged committ. The rest of the world should look past these two cases and you will see the crimes being committed against whites in this country! No I would not recommend any one invest or visit ...more

It would be better for the white farmers to leave South Africa and let the rest of the population starve to death. The white farmers in South Africa are constantly subjected to violence by the majority black South Africans. This country will be at the mercy of Aid from the United Nations and financial bailouts from the International Monetary Fund, as long the the African National Congress remains in power.

South Africa is definitely up there with the worst. My wife's uncle was murdered during a hijacking, My aunt was gang raped, our house was broken into while asleep and our vehicle has been broken into twice. I have many other stories of crime with other family members and friends. We have lived in 4 different cities and you wake up every day to hear stories like these in your area. The people that comment that it is not so bad really are not living in reality. Murder, rape, corruption, hijackings and burglary are order of the day. I still cannot believe the people that say it is not so bad. yes other countries have problems but South Africa has truly become bad. It scares me to think of how much crime is not reported in South Africa.

I'm also South African and I don't find this disrespectful. Anyone who thinks its safe there is cooked in the head. Glad I left. Upon leaving I left my 9mm handgun, 2m high walls and electric fence, all necessities since our house got broken into over 6 times by armed men. But if you want to live in a fantasy world go ahead and be naive.

14 Ukraine Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest European country, covering approximately 600,000 square kilometres (230,000 sq mi), and has a population of around 40 million people. It is bordered by Russia to the east and northeast; by Belarus to the north; by Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west; and by Romania and Moldova to the southwest; with a coastline along the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov to the south and southeast, respectively. Kyiv is Ukraine's capital as well as its largest city. The country's language is Ukrainian, and many people are also fluent in Russian.

Ukraine has started becoming terrible with what they did to the Malaysian flight.
The skinheads there do not let blacks live and do lots of stuff like tearing your body and getting your organs out and kill you. Plus you have also got Russia as a neighbouring country and it always keeps having wars

Only Eastern Ukraine and Chernobyl are dangerous. Just because a portion of the country is dangerous doesn't mean the entire country is dangerous. The rest of Ukraine is safe, just don't go to Chernobyl and the eastern part.

The rest of Ukraine is safe. People really want others to think that the entirety of Ukraine is dangerous just because ONLY the eastern part is at war. Ukraine is not like Syria, Yemen, or Iraq. It's way safer than those 3 countries.

Certainly not safe to fly over. One airliner shot down and another 2 transports almost hit as well. We should definitely close Ukrainian Airspace until the situation there is at least somewhat more safe.

15 Democratic Republic of the Congo The Democratic Republic of the Congo, also known as DR Congo, DRC, DROC, Congo-Kinshasa, or simply the Congo is a country located in Central Africa.

Congo is a useless ghetto country where corruption and violences goes unpunished. The so-called United Nations are obvious to all of this. I don't feel sorry for the most of the Congolese, because most of them recreate violence overseas and create further problems abroad.

DR Congo is starving and many people there cannot live a healthy life. There are rebels trying to take control of the government and the government is very corrupt.

This should be way higher than the USA! This deserves to be in the top 5!

16 Iran Iran, also known as Persia, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a sovereign state in Western Asia. The capital city is Teheran and the major city is also Tehran. The country's official language is Persian.

Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations, beginning with the formation of the Elamite kingdoms in the fourth millennium BC. The country's rich cultural legacy is reflected... read more

Although there are a lot of criminals, The U.S. and other countries have this too, but the main danger is the government. Christians are allowed, but they are under constant pervasive surveillance, and they need to fill out attendance records. The government is also very conservative and strict. Although it is not nearly as bad as Saudi Arabia (They are much worse), the incredibly conservative regime is known for imposing harsh sentences for most crimes. However, if there is one thing I should tell you, they are also very hard on terrorists, and do not allow any groups like that in this country.

Safe and dangerous at the same time. No terrorism though, and our crime rate is much lower than Russia's in a lot of cases. It is not really the criminals you have to worry about here, it's the government. Although they are not as oppressive as many other governments, they are still as bad and strict as the Soviet Union/USSR (which is now defunct). In fact, it is not nearly as oppressive as Russia's modern Federation Government that was adopted after the Soviet Union was disbanded. However, it is still certainly very lacking in many rights.

17 Russia Russia, or the Russian Federation (RF), is a transcontinental country spanning Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. It is the largest country in the world by area, covering over 17,125,191 square kilometres (6,612,073 sq mi), and encompassing one-eighth of Earth's inhabitable landmass. Russia extends across eleven time zones and borders sixteen sovereign nations, the most of any country in the world. It is the ninth-most populous country and the most populous country in Europe, with a population of 145.5 million. The country's capital and largest city is Moscow, the largest city entirely within Europe. Saint Petersburg is Russia's cultural centre and second-largest city. Other major urban areas ...read more.

Russia like the US is dangerous. Russia under Putin is trying to restore their empire ( the bear was never dead, just hibernating ). The US is trying to desperately hold on to its empire. The current poisonous relationship between these two nations will see a miscalculation and when it's over, the remaining nations... England, China, and others may have to pick up the pieces. On the other hand, nobody in the world is safe if both the US and Russia remain hell bent in their current mindset.

I don't know what all of you guys are talking about, these countries are not by how much missiles and nukes they have, these are by the crime rates, and wars. From 2008 to 2011 St Petersburg and Moscow had 7,644 murders... I am from russia myself and it is never safe out in the streets, especially at night. Mafia is everywhere, and the whole country is filled with alcoholics and killers. that's why I moved to USA

Russia is not the safest of places, lets face it guys. Even if you don't get killed by an FSB operative you still have to contend with incredibly harsh winters and people who are incredibly bitter about the way the cold war turned out.

How are Russia, the us, and Romania are on here? NONE of these countries are as bad as the Middle East or central America. if anything, Nicaragua should be no. 1 it is literally the dirtiest, filthiest country to come out of America.

18 Honduras

Honduras is not that dangerous, Yes, there are murders as in almost every country, over the years this murder rate has decreased. It isn't the most dangerous place on Earth, how is that even possible with al this wars occuring at the moment? If you come here you obviously won't be murdered just as you enter the country, and there are beautiful places in here and people is nice. I Love my country, flaws and all, and stop throwing negativity towards it please

How is Honduras number 15? Honduras highest killing rate for the year 2014. The rate is 80.57! That's a high amount. I would stay far away from the Honduras to keep my life safe!

Honduras is extremely dangerous, with the corrupt government, drug lords, and gangs. Its had the highest homicide rate in the world for at least the last 7 years.

Honduras is a very dangerous country. Almost every kid is bound to end up in a gang. No wonder the US is having problems with child immagration. Their parents want them safe from gangs.

19 Nigeria Nigeria, an African country on the Gulf of Guinea, has many natural landmarks and wildlife reserves. This DEVIL country produces self-hating, rude, aggressive, greedy, racist, homophobic and Christian-pretending rats. They export scams, violence, AIDs/HIV, drug operations, drug mules, terrorism, sadistic rituals and too many children around the world.

Nigerian migrants transform any stable countries into unstable countries by undermining natives with race-hustling, playing the 'race card' to get free entitlement, breeding too many children like rats and creating violent crime.

They deserve to be run by a self-serving corrupt bureaucratic government and BOKO HARAM.

They say "God Help Us". I say "God is helping them suffer for their sins".

Nigeria is a failed country. Crime, terrorism, diseases, corruption, every bad thing you can think of; Nigeria has them all. People lie that Nigeria is a beautiful rich country but in reality Nigeria is a poor underdeveloped country whose people are starving and suffering. Nigeria is as impoverished as Somalia.

20 Central African Republic The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Chad to the north, Sudan to the northeast, South Sudan to the southeast, the DR Congo to the south, the Republic of the Congo to the southwest, and Cameroon to the west. The CAR covers a land area of about 620,000 square kilometres (240,000 sq mi). As of 2018, it had an estimated population of around 4.7 million. As of 2021, the CAR is the scene of a civil war, ongoing since 2012

CAR is a mess. Tensions are high, lots of unrest and war could happen at literally any second. How often do you hear about a government advising you not to visit their country? How often do you see an airport as a refugee camp?

Are you sure that Italy and South Africa (which are just countries with high crime rate) are more dangerous than a country with a civil, famine and Ebola?

Why wasn't this added before I added it? The country's own government advises you not to go there! How often do you hear about something like that?

THE poorest country in the world.

21 Sudan Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan, is a country in Northeast Africa. It shares borders with the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west, Egypt to the north, Eritrea to the northeast, Ethiopia to the southeast, Libya to the northwest, South Sudan to the south and the Red Sea. It has a population of 45.70 million people as of 2022 and occupies 1,886,068 square kilometres, making it Africa's third-largest country by area, and the third-largest by area in the Arab League. I travel in Sudan, I just find wonderful and helpful people. I also sleep in some house because people invited me. I was not scared at all, I love Sudan and Sudanese people

If you don't want to get killed by a 8 year old then don't come to Sudan. It has ongoing civil war and bandits will just behead you and rob your money

If you are under 18 don't think to go here! the Sudanians will train you as a fighter and you will be killed by the kids from the South Sudan because the 2 Sudans fight each other with war kids!

Don't ever come to Sudan. Its really really unsafe. You might be killed on the day of your first visit.

22 Jamaica Jamaica is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean (after Cuba and Hispaniola). Jamaica lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola (the island containing the countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic); the British Overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands lies some 215 kilometres (134 mi) to the north-west.

Jamaica is one of the coolest place on the planet. It is not as dangerous as some say. The people are warm, the beaches and awesome sites are great, the food is delicious, the air is fresh, if I were to make a choice as to where I would live it would definitely be Jamaica.

First I must say Jamaica is a beautiful country but what I don't understand is why the politics have the country in such a state... As a visitor there I was target for the US dollar... Scary, had to leave the country after two days on a two week vacation...

Jamaica is a great country. However there is corruption in the government and so affects the country; but this isn't every where. So, don't be of the impression that no street is safe to walk. As in any country we have our good and bad.

Jamaica is just an underdeveloped island country with many criminals and undisciplined citizens. I don't see what people like about this abysmal place you call a country.

23 Colombia Colombia, officially the Republic of Colombia, is a country situated in the northwest of South America, bordered to the northwest by Panama; to the east by Venezuela and Brazil; to the south by Ecuador and Peru; and it shares maritime limits with Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

Me as a Colombian living in the United States I can tell you guys that Colombia isn't as bad as it seems to be honest.
Of course there are killings every single day, but that happens in almost every country around the globe, sadly we are very famous because of Pablo Escobar and all the bad stuff he did. Colombia was a hellhole 20 years ago, now it's a little bit safer, even though crime is still present I really don't think Colombia deserves such a high place in this list.

Screw you guys, I'm going home! This place reminds me of hell!

Why is this on the list? You just have to use common sense!

The poverty rate in Colombia is pretty poor and the drug rate. They definitely should be poor.

I worked in all Europe and I can assure you that the most dangerous country in Europe and one of the most in the whole world is Italy.

No road safety, if you have a car crash you are always responsible even if you've been severely injured. I know the case of a German little girl of 4 years old killed by a truck along a road, people around have accused the little girl, I remember her father completely destroyed; The trucker was drunk and phoning during the terrible impact.

This can resume how everything could happen there if you trust Italians, never trust those cowardly and liar people.

Don't go there, we spent our last holidays, it's a real danger on the roads, in small cities, everyone suspicious, be careful on what you eat, keep your money in secure place where you visit touristic places, don't go in suburbs, especially around Napoli (extremely dangerous), Pisa, Roma, Milan... Avoid the North people are arrogant, never trust them, in South people are more friendly, especially in Sicily, but avoid hospital, keep calm on the roads.. Or better don't go there, the scenery is not the top and beaches are crowded and absolutely too much dirty.

Philippines is without a doubt a dangerous country. It is not safe in any place in Philippines. There are many impoverished people throughout the country that will keep asking for money and will not take no for an answer. Of course, there are also scammers who will trick any tourist into giving them money. Violent drug addicts are everywhere especially in the capital. The capital itself is super dirty and filled with many slum areas. The public transportations are also really dirty and stinky. The drivers don't even drive properly and are just undisciplined. And if that isn't bad enough, Philippines is also a global hub of child pornography and Mindanao has so many ISIS terrorists there was even a war in one of its cities.

I became a crime victim on my latest visit to the Philippines when my pockets were picked in a church of all places! But actually the largest churches and pilgrimage churches in the country do present particular risks for tourists and visitors. First the crowds of beggars, street vendors and churchgoers in the streets around the church can provide cover for pickpockets. But more especially when you attend a mass and have to stand still for an hour or so, probably outside because of the crowds trying to attend, beware that pickpockets can be watching you, especially when the collection is being taken, and you put your hand into your trouser pocket which contains your money (or so it seems to them). After attending a Sunday mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antopolo, I walked into the side chapel containing the Black Nazarene figure, where I did feel someone brush against me but felt no more of it. But then I soon realised that my camera had disappeared from one ...more

I'm a Filipino, I am no dangerous fellow here.
I think I here the same news about crimes and everything.
This should be hire because of crimes.
But the EJK incident disturbs me by now.
Although it's not a dangerous country but the real reason why this country is dangerous because of the crimes.
Filipinos are acted like psychos on T.V. nothing but it's still impossible to calm down.
They're nothing but beating innocent people who did/'nt do anything wrong even at T.V..
Filipinos are probably dangerous people sometimes except me and others.
But the 'join the fight' part in most commercials are nothing but some crime propagandas or something.
I think this should be in page 2 on this list and make it more a little hire.

The country itself has a stable government, great diversity, and nice and hospitable people (family values are everything to them) and everything but what makes it dangerous (and what's decimated the country in recent years) is the natural disasters. For example, Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms ever recorded, decimated the Philippines in 2013. Look up pictures.
