Top 10 Most Inspirational Movies of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Forrest Gump

It is such a mind-blowing movie. After watching this movie, I learned many good lessons. Forrest Gump is the story of a common man who is always satisfied with what God has given to him. He is a simple, honest, benevolent man who never despairs or gives up. This movie resonated with me from top to bottom. It is a guide that provides strength, power, dedication, and hope to all its audience.

Stories like this are written once in a decade.

I salute the splendid work of the writer, director, producer, and last but not least, actor Tom Hanks who brought the character to life.
Indeed, this is the ultimate movie which I like the most and watch the most.

It's a must-watch movie. Those who haven't watched it yet are truly missing out.

It's the best movie with the best work on screen from beginning to end.

2 The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption is an inspiring film that touches people, including myself. It doesn't present themes in a simplistic view. It makes us think about life in a complex way. Unlike other films that are uninspired and cliché, this film communicates a theme that all humans sometimes fail to realize. This film is, and always will be, the best film I have ever seen. It may not have won an Oscar, but it will remain in our hearts forever.

Nothing could be more inspirational than breaking dysfunctional laws and making use of pain and suffering to get out of a prison where everyone seems to have adapted. Do you know why this movie still holds the highest score in movie making? It's because deep down in our subconscious, a voice constantly whispers: 'There is no goal higher than freedom'. Get busy living, or get busy dying!

3 The Pursuit of Happyness

I choose this one over Forrest Gump and The Shawshank Redemption because, although the second one is really inspirational, none of them, or the ones below, can compare, at least from the ones I've seen. A man who has so many significant real-life problems and can still fight with all his strength is overwhelming and generates hope. But the best thing about this movie is that it's based on true events. An amazingly outstanding masterpiece.

One of the best inspirational movies I have ever watched. To me, this movie is one of those films that you can keep watching over and over from beginning to end and still get the same perspective you had when you first watched it. It's one of those "Watch it multiple times and never get bored of it" movies. It is a must-watch. It's worth every second you spend on this movie.

4 Rocky

People who haven't seen this movie might think it's all about boxing. However, believe me, it's about so much more than just boxing. It's about relationships and perseverance. It teaches us how to keep moving forward in life. It's one of those films from which you can learn many valuable lessons. It's a must-watch.

I watch these movies once a year because they are among the best. You want inspiration? This is where it's at. I had never seen anyone try so hard and put their heart into something as much as when I watched this. It truly shows you to never give up and to keep pushing forward.

5 3 Idiots

This is a must-watch. It is funny, inspiring, and romantic. The passion this movie exudes is unbelievably soothing. It makes you laugh, cry, and think about your past, future, friends, and choices. It has one of the greatest dialogues ever, "The heart is very innocent. Fool it every time you think something is not right. Place a hand on your heart and tell it, 'All is Well,' and you will gain the power to face most of your problems in life."

Really awesome, a must-watch, truly inspirational movie. It depicts the life of three students who are also good friends. One memorable quote: "Don't chase after success. Pursue excellence, and success will follow you."

6 The Blind Side

This movie inspires families all over the world to teach neighbors, friends, and even strangers that in at least one way, they mean something to you! This movie is so inspirational to me! We can all make a difference!

Great movie. This is one that teaches us to let our work speak for us. Everyone has a hero within. The only thing you need is to bring it out. Explore the hero within.

I was inspired by how Sandra Bullock portrayed her role. She fits perfectly. This movie reminds me not to stop dreaming.

7 Braveheart

Braveheart is a masterpiece with tremendous heart, a great soundtrack, intense battle scenes, and a heart-wrenching love story. It is perhaps the most inspirational movie of all time. William Wallace leads his countrymen to freedom, all motivated by the love of a woman. In a dream, William doesn't want to fight but wants to stay in the dream with his wife. She tells him to open his eyes. He does, and it strengthens his resolve. His actions inspire his people to take their own action and rise against England with the nobleman Bruce. It sets a high bar for other filmmakers in the war movie genre.

8 Remember the Titans

I wouldn't say this is the best on the list with "Pursuit of Happyness" sitting there. But in sports, this is the most inspirational movie you can ever watch and it deserves to be in the top 5. It's too good. By the end of the movie, if you didn't shed tears, you aren't human. And it's a true story!

I love this movie. It teaches moral values and the importance of having each other regardless of our differences.

I watched it three times and was inspired all over again.

9 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

For me personally, this is truly the most inspirational film of all time. Stories woven only like this can truly penetrate the heart. The story of Samwise and Frodo is heart-wrenching. The themes of friendship, love, heroism, good vs. evil, and hope in the face of despair are FANTASTIC.

Proof that size doesn't matter: two young hobbits, barely 3 feet tall, prove to the world that they bow to no one by destroying the one ring and freeing Middle Earth from the forces of Sauron and his orcs. This movie and the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit are simply amazing.

10 127 Hours

I was bored and wanted to watch a movie to inspire me for the upcoming new year, so I looked up the most inspiring movies and found this website with this movie at its tenth spot. I started watching it, waiting for the man to get trapped. As it happens out of nowhere, I solemnly think of how I would cry my eyes out if I got punched a couple of times in the ribs. THIS GUY, however, had to cut off his hand and a bit of his arm! I might be rambling. Sorry, that's just how I am. Anyway, after 127 hours of brutal pain for Aron, I would never be able to endure it. He deserved to live, but I don't think I would have.

The Contenders
11 One Flew Over the Cuckoos' Nest

Excellent, it reveals that a streak of madness exists in everyone. Only some get classified as insane, while others don't.

As deep as it gets, the choice is yours.

Such an inspiring insane asylum!

12 Titanic

Ah! So sweet, adorable, and cute. I just watched it for the first time ever. It's a great romantic movie, a love story, a classic, and (NO OFFENSE) an oldish movie. Watch it right now! GO.

It showcased the love of two people and how they were brought together. It inspires you to do anything for a loved one. Do you know how it feels to like someone, knowing that it might not work out in the end, but believing that, regardless, you would do anything for him or her?

Shows that love has no limits! Undeniably one of the best romantic movies ever!

13 It's A Wonderful Life

Because life is the reason we exist, I believe this movie is the most important. Just think about how life would change or the impact it might have on someone who watches this movie. It's incredibly inspiring. It moved me to tears. The film taught me gratitude and reminded me of the importance of faith in God. God bless us all.

It's a great movie. It made me realize that even though bad things happened in my life, many good things also occurred. It also showed me that life is better with me in it.

14 Saving Private Ryan

A movie that will touch your souls, bless your hearts, and inspire all. I've watched this about ten times now, and each time I cry, I am truly moved.

Not only one of the most inspirational movies of all time but also one of the greatest movies of all time. Can't believe it's ranked this low.

Saving Private Ryan is the most comprehensive military film I've seen. It's not just a military film. It shows us the emotions of a soldier.

15 Edward Scissorhands

I love this movie. It's the most romantic one you'll ever see, and the character is very relatable too!

Beautiful film that has a heart-felt, powerful meaning that anyone can relate to. Tim Burton's masterpiece!

This is one of the best stories I've ever watched.

16 The Godfather

I am watching this movie and still enjoy it even now, after 20 years. This movie doesn't have an expiration date. It's a great true story, with strong messages for fighters and beautiful music.

17 Good Will Hunting

I watched this yesterday. The emotion it held was just unbelievable and beautiful. The thought of this young man who, after enduring so much, found the person who gave him what he needed, both breaking and repairing his heart all at the same time, sending him on the journey he deserved, was just amazing!

It changed my life. I'm a college dropout, and I don't regret it after watching this movie.

Puts a smile on my face every time I see this name.

18 Big Fish

A classic! Some might think this movie is too far-fetched, but the story is told through the eyes of a child and his imagination of his father's stories. A brilliant movie!

Think Big! This movie tells us that we're meant for something bigger in life, that we can accomplish anything. A must-watch.

Inspirational movie presented in a fairy-tale-like fashion.

19 Dead Poets Society

An amazing and inspiring film! Williams plays the role of a professor who truly teaches and cares for his students. Students should be able to think for themselves and share their voices. He taught the students to see things from different perspectives. Teaching should be more open than as restricted as it currently is.

An amazing movie based on the educational system. Robin Williams will make you cry and laugh with his effortless performance. It's definitely one of the best movies ever.

The movie gives you goosebumps. I've never watched something so inspirational.

20 Doctor Strange (2016)
21 The Help

One of my favorites. It just shows that sometimes it takes just someone to listen and understand to make things better for someone else.

22 The Dark Knight

Who can't love a Batman movie like this? The ending is incredibly thrilling and emotional.

23 Groundhog Day

I enjoyed this movie. I really related to it because I am also in a time loop.

Comedic and philosophical. One of the best movies ever made.

The most inspiring movie I have ever seen.

24 Casablanca
25 Black Hawk Down

Required watching for everyone who lives in the U.S.A. and benefits from the heroism of our military.
