Top 10 Most Musical Countries
Not to mention sub genre's created solely by the U.S. Funk, Bluegrass, disco (influencing more than you think) Rapp, Hip hop, grunge, garage (with respects to funk, R&B and Rock) and also smooth jazz and fusion. Still no thanks or recognition at all. Other countries borrow and use to create their sound but style and sound itself originated in the U.S of A. Remember that when you listen to Sade, The Police, Queen and any other's. They owe their thanks to Rock, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Disco and so on. Music created in the U.S.. These genres do have standards which one has to follow for it to be in a particular genre or sub genre. Example: Latin Jazz it's a sub genre of Jazz but the Jazz part comes from U.S. Jazz, not matter what country it started in and has to give it's roots to the U.S. Same with anything Rock and Roll based, R&B based, Country based and so on. I Think you get the picture.
Well I live in the U.S. and yes one could say that the entertainment industry has the leading history here and continues to do so. And I also sometimes know what that business can many times represent. Money and greed being the focus not the music as time has moved on. The amount being "Churned" out would be a good word. Quantity has nothing to do with quality. This is for any country not just the U.S. I would have to say what country an artist comes from does not have a large bearing on my music listening either, matters very little. Humans just need to beat their chests and that's a human thing regardless of country. This list somehow saddens me. Just had to say since I should not be returning. I have other more important things to be proud of concerning the particular country of which I have been born. To me music is universal no reason to be boasted about.
Iconic music; Beethoven, Mozart (technically Austrian, but so was Hitler and nobody remembers that), Back, all the classics. Literally, they created classical music. You could say a country like America has all the famous 'artists' who are popular now, but they won't necessarily be remembered fifty years from now, let alone two-three hundred. pop is the most well known now, and has been for a few decades. but classical music was not only the most popular for hundreds of years, it was some of the only music and defined modern music. Yet even today there are still brilliant composers and bands from Germany like Rammstein and Hans Zimmer.
Many great game composers are Japanese.
France should be in top five guys! French music is somewhat unpopular outside France but that doesn't that they don't have great artists. They are in all genres from pop to rap to electro, even metal.
In France music is more an art than in some other countries. The language is perfect to sing and a lot of great songs and classic music are French. The accordion is a sixty years old cliché a lot of DJ like Daft Punk and David Guetta are French. And I only talk about French musicians and no francophone...
They have well-known house artists such has David Guetta, Nicky Romero, and let's not forget about Daft Punk.
In terms of the proportion of people in the population who play musical instruments andor sing I reckon Ireland just be near the top. Most people I know either sing, play or have played instruments from childhdood. I haven't come across this in other countries. Where I live, Belfast, there are music sessions of different sorts every night of the week at different venues across the city. I remember reading a book of photographs of Ireland by a French photographer and him commenting, in passing, that he hadn 't realised that the Irish were so music mad.

U.K. , U.S. , serious? There live about 300 million + people in those countries and still they have a a lack of good quality music. But Sweden, there live only about 9 million people over there and they still have so much good artists. Hail Sweden, the country of great music, this is the where the best music comes from. From Dead by April to Avicii, from ABBA to Little Dragon and much more, almost impossible to count! So much talent! Go Sweden! Best Music is in Sweden!
I do think a lot of people sleep on how big Sweden is in ghe world of music. As a lot of people has mentioned a lot of the big hits you hear have been written or produced or whatever by a swede but then you have all the bands, in popular mainstream/dance/house music you have the likes of Zara Larsson, Galantis, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Icona Pop, Rebecca & Fiona, Alesso, Axwell & Ingrosso, Vigiland and Otto Knows just to mention a few.
Not only that but Sweden is probably even bigger in the Rock/Metal genres with the likes of Europe, The Hives, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Mando Diao, Corroded The Hellacopters, Hardcore Superstar, Ghost, Meshuggah, Mustasch, PAIN, Passenger, Soilwork, Sabaton, Hammerfall, Johnossi and Bathory with list being far from over.
To say Canada produces some of the most popular music right now is an understatement, Ontario and the Grand Theft Auto alone are producing some of the top pop artists right now, Drake, Justin Beiber, the Weekend all of whom are headliners for their own shows and rake in millions for their tours and music. Then we have Allessia Cara, Shawn Mendes and Majid Jordan who are gaining that status slowly. Ontario and all of Canada is a hotbed for talent.
We are the smallest country by population on this list we are only the 2nd largest country in the world by land area please fix the description. Shows you just how talented our population is per capita.
New Zealand and Australia have a staggering number of musicians and groups. The tyranny of distance has ensured their unique voices

Bollywood is the undisputed main music output. But from Punjabi hip hop in the North, to Carnatic music in the South, from Orissi to Bharatnatyam, Indian music has no doubt the most incredible diversity in the world. Glad to call myself an Indian
India is all about music!
No matter that is 'filmy', 'raggas', 'folk' or 'rock'...
The music of India includes multiple varieties of folk, popular, pop, classical music and R&B. India's classical music tradition, including Carnatic and Hindustani music, has a history spanning a millennia and developed over several eras. It remains fundamental to the lives of Indians today as sources of spiritual inspiration, cultural expression and pure entertainment. India is made up of several dozen ethnic groups, speaking their own languages and dialects, having distinct cultural traditions.
Perhaps one of the few countries in the world that has produced countless international music legends. A country where various styles have been born, a place where many Latin American countries including the United States have found an icon singer or song writer. As a music historian Mexico should definitely be number three right below the United States due to it's influence, inspiration and styles it has produced continueously since it's initiation.
When in it comes to music in Spanish, Mexico is number one in production. You can literally find live music in any town.
Russia now have the best classic musicians in the world such as Mariinsky orchestra under the baton of Gergirev, the truely number 1 conductor in the world.

South Korea has it's own separate genre of music! Kpop is the best thing to happen to this world! Gangnam Style is the most viewed video on YouTube and is a South Korean Kpop m/v. South Korea also has Big Bang, SNSD, EXO and of course Psy. I'm Australian and have a Lebanese background and let me just say that South Korean music is top of the range.
T.O. P is the best :D

I believe the Italians really almost own the leaders in music from operas to chants and poetic music. The Italian language itself is based on musical syllabic overtones!
Giovanni Gabrieli, Giacomo Puccini, Paganini, Verdi, Ennio Morricone, Anrea Bocelli, Pavarotti... those are reasons alone that make Italy at least rank 3 together with Germany or the States
Never heard, except maybe the outdated and obese Pavaroti, that's not funk, not fun, not al all.
Most of people doesn't realize the importance and influence of Bossa Nova in other countries (rhythms and styles of music).
There're other various local type of regional music in Brazil. The fact of these genres are not known around the world does'n mean that they are not important or genuine.
How is Brazil not on this list yet? It should be number one in fact. Brazil has the most unique and some of the best rhythms in the world. Samba and Bassa Nova music pretty much define the "world music" scene.
Are you kidding? All day all night samba?
Communist Party ruined the real progression of music in China. The real stuff lies in Hong Kong and Taiwan, which have not suffered those musical detriments the mainland has suffered.
Jane Zhang, Cui Jian (China's most prominent rockstar), former EXO-M members named Kris Wu, Lay Zhang Yi Xing, Huang Zi Tao & Lu Han, former Miss A members named Wang Fei Fei & Meng Jia are so excellent and they boost their singing voice in them!

I don't think people realize how much of today's musician's and producers come from the Netherlands. I mean you have LEGENDS from the Netherlands. Headhunter, Noise controllers, Armin Van Buren, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Hardwell and so much more. These guys literally redefined electronic music, sure it isn't classical or pop, not even metal or rap. But these guys alone are founding fathers to what is now taking the world by storm.

Some of its Musicians have won World Music awards - beating out all other countries. Amr Diab (Egyptian), is in the Guinness book of world records for it.
Most of the voters here just haven't listened to Egyptian music. And if you haven't, you're missing half of your life!
There is a lot of good music coming out of such a small country, especially when it comes to metal - Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Sonata Arctica etc.
There are many good metal artists like Finntroll, Nightwish, Korpiklaani and so on.
Furthermore, nice polka music is from Finland.
