Most Overrated Animated Movies

The Top Ten
1 Frozen

Frozen isn't necessarily bad, but BOY is it overrated! I can't go into a store without having the big eyes of Anna and Elsa staring at me from the shelves. And don't even get me started on the popularity of Let it Go. It's far from the best Disney song and the amount of attention it gets is ridiculous. I mean, it was played on FM radio for crying out loud! Not to mention that it has a crappy message about shirking your responsibilities and abandoning your loved ones in pursuit of isolation. Overall, Frozen is overrated beyond relief.

It may be overhated on this site, but considering that it won an oscar, got a sequel and is still loved by many, I'm sure it is overrated pretty much. People like it because of Elsa's powers and the songs, but take away that, and it becomes clear that the characters are undeveloped and the plot twists are forced but predictable anyways.

Frozen is good but it is really overrated AND overhated. It is far from being the greatest Disney movie of all time but since it became popular lots of boys have created a hatebase that is even worse than the fanbase. Why is Frozen in the top ten of the worst animated movies list?

2 The Lego Movie

Someone says something negative about "Frozen", the response is ALWAYS "Yeah, sock it to that terrible, awful, horrid waste of film! "

Someone says something negative about "The Lego Movie", the response is ALWAYS "No! How can you hate it? "

That's far from fair, and both movies suck despite the massive praise and hype.

No one's allowed to dislike this movie, to say it's anything less than the ' Citizen Kane of animated movies. But it's just another trite story about some schmoe turning out to be the one to save the universe. The attempts to come off as having some really deep moral and the "all star" cast don't change that.

I love this movie so much and it is one of my favorite movies ever but I don't think serious adults should watch it. People hate it just because it is too silly and the characters are happy most of the time. This movie is supposed to be a happy and goofy movie for children not for adults.

3 Zootopia

Well, I considered Zootopia to be much better than Frozen, especially plot-wise. I only referred to Frozen because I feel like it's one of the most overrated Disney animated films. And yes- I am well aware of Zootopia's popularity during its "opening weekend." Obviously a highly anticipated movie will have an abundance of views during the time of its premier. Considering that, the fact that Zootopia is on this list is ridiculous. The movie came out so recently that it can not be deemed "overrated"- at least not yet. And did I not say it's underrated "in my opinion"? You don't have to agree. Also, I have no idea how that remark about "political satire" and "social commentary" was relevant to to my previous comment. Overall, Zootopia is a great movie and just shouldn't be on this list in my opinion.

When a movie is practically nothing but social commentary with the occasional "look, we made a reference to some show" or "look we took a bunch of some titles and even previous Disney movie titles and replaced one word with the name of some animal" yet despite being out barely a month has already been declared by many the " best Disney movie ever! 1111! " (in fact people were doing that on its first weekend ALONE; "Frozen"- which I don't care for but don't waste my time going on and on about it- actually didn't reach that point THAT quickly), it's overrated.

4 The Lion King

Beyond overrated! Don't get all the hype. so many other animated movies were so much better, more original and had greater depth!

What?! This is one of the greatest Disney movies of all time!

Good art but he plot is way too simplistic and cliche, not to mention it's a ripoff of Kimba anime

5 Minions

While I'm just as sick of the minions as you guys, I don't think this movie is THAT bad. Sure it's one of Illumination's weakest, but it's slightly enjoyable in some parts. The climax is a bit fun and Scarlett is a fine villain. But it's a bit annoying for sure

What?! you see I waiting for this movie in December 6 2015. ather my waiting, it finally came out and I was so excited! and went I saw it, the crushing disappointment swept over me when the movie was finished! that's the worst thing about illimation entertainment: the adversting! it made over a billion dollars! (trust me)there's minion backpacks, balloons, lunchboxs, everywhere! why can't people watch it and say: hey! the doesn't devrse this phomeniom! that's all I have to say.

Minions has a terrible story and if you say it's awesome, then I'll go all Scarlet Overkill on you

6 Spirited Away

This movie deserves its praise. The most famous Ghibli film and for good reason, it has everything you'd want in a movie: emotion, good story, good characters, good pacing, everything is great

Overrated due to being most people's first Miyazaki movie. Not even close to being the best. Princess Mononoke blows this out of the water, but this gets the praise annoyingly.

To these two people that said in the comments that Spirited Away is not overrated, it's not underrated either. But I've seen even greater Studio Ghibli movies.

7 Wall-E

Wall-E is so overrated. People go on and on about how cute the robot is and how it is the best movie of all time. Most of the characters don't even talk and just make noises, the first 15 minutes of the movie is just Wall-E looking at garbage and making garbage cubes, the villain is really boring, and the humans are all unlikable, really fat, and dumb. I find this movie boring but all of this is just my opinion and keep liking the movie if you like it.

Yeah, boring movie, this is not far the greatest animated

I love this movie

8 Rise of the Guardians

Jack Frost is so annoying, and "edgier" takes on Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are nothing new.

9 Shrek

Most people call Shrek the best animated movie of all time just because of the memes. They hate on movies with annoying gross jokes yet they are fine with Shrek. The fans always spam "Shrek is love Shrek is life!" "What are you doin' in mah swamp!" "Somebody once told me...!" everywhere and call Shrek a God just like they do with characters like Waluigi from the Super Mario franchise just because of memes. It is not a bad movie but come on memes should not be giving this movie a 10/10.

Frozen is just as overrated, but I don't think frozen could've been made if it weren't for the bad influence of Shrek! Ironically this was a big middle finger to Disney from it's blacksheep child, DreamWorks. Shrek bashed most of the Disney cliches in the head to show how "superior" it is compared to Disney! But ironically other film studios, even Disney tried to be as great as Shrek! As frozen too bashed some cliches by telling and not simply just showing! Whoever think Shrek and frozen are superior, do not know the difference between humble and arrogance! đź’˘

10 Toy Story 3

Toy Story 2 is better. End of.

The Contenders
11 Lilo & Stitch

Stitch is one annoying mofo, and Lilo is too much a manic depressive little brat

My favourite disney movie

12 Mulan
13 The Simpsons Movie

As bad as the show itself was at the point, and if anything the show has gotten WORSE in the years since

No, this movie deserves it's love.

14 The Incredibles

This was the movie if my childhood (I'm like fifteen now so...)

I agree, should be higher.

Deserves it's praise!

15 Cars

Cars does have its moments, but I actually trust the Nostalgia Critic on almost every Disneycember/Dreamworks-uary video such as his video on Cars. Cars does not feel like the least like a Pixar movie, but it does have some racial stereotypes and not enough adventure. Even Cars 2 is a better Pixar movie. I give Cars a 6/10 (a 7 for the animation, an 8 for the sound, a 5 for the story and a 5 for the characters).

How Is This Overrated?

16 Finding Dory
17 Toy Story

It's a masterpiece, but most people only like it because it was the first CGI movie ever without looking into the quality. Don't get me wrong, it's excellent but it pales in comparision to all of its sequels

18 Ralph Breaks the Internet

This movie is way more similar to The Emoji Movie than to the original Wreck-it-Ralph which is sad because The Emoji Movie is awful and the original Wreck-it-Ralph was awesome. Vanellope is even more unlikable and it completely strips the video game genre and replaces it with social media and trends. Stop with the Flossing Ralph and Fortnite jokes. Also that Princess scene is not even that interesting yet it was everywhere when this movie was released.

Vanellope is so full of herself and such a little bee eye tea see ach. I honestly was waiting for someone to murder her (and not somewhere her code could be conveniently added by a blatant Mary Sue).

The only good scenes are the ones in the trailer, it's like they made them specifically to be put in the trailer.

19 Despicable Me
20 Fantasia

Criminally underrated in my opinion. The general population doesn't care too much for classical music.

21 Ratatouille
22 Treasure Planet
23 The Princess and the Frog

Its dumb its about a girl that's in love with a frog

24 Rio

Bullcrap this amazing movie is underrated I do wish it would get more love but not to the point of being overrated.

25 Hotel Transylvania

Its fans like the RFAA, ThatRandomGamer, Arianators, Ruby Rooker and hillbillies will demand us all to like Disney's Frozen, straight-to-video sequels like the ones made by Crest Animation Studios that are the Alpha & Omega sequels/The Swan Princess sequels, prissy little girls' stuff like Bratz and Nickelodeon. :O - The Ultimate Daredevil

It's underrated, actually.
