I've seen Pat performing many times, first time in 1978. And he doesn't stop to amaze me...he is truly one of the most innovative and creative musician of all times, not only a (brilliant) player.

Right after Yngwie the best guitarist in the 80's and 90's, wrote some amazing songs with Ozzy and then completely changed his style when he formed Badlands. I can't wait for his new album!

The many different sounds that he could master with a flip of a switch from his guitar was one reason that the Beatles had a tight sound. Maybe I'm showing my age,but I still love his guitar work on "I feel Fine".

Most people don't listen to ZZ Top's older stuff, so they don't know how good Gibbons is. He would kill it on songs that would never be heard on radio. For example, his slide guitar on "I Wanna Drive You Home" is hypnotic. His wide array of talent goes unnoticed because of ZZ Top's image.
Seriously, he is not really primarily known for his guitar work but the intro solo on "Prove it All Night" on the 1978 Darkness tour was just amazing.
