Best Movie Villains of 2013

The Top Ten
1 General Zod (Man of Steel)

A truly menacing and powerful villain, Shannon brings remarkable intensity to the great character. An epic villain in an epic movie, the fight between him and Superman is undoubtedly one of the best ever. Full-throttle excitement from start to finish. Love MoS!

He's so underrated, as is the entire movie, but I can live with that. What really bothers me is that the 1980s Zod, from Superman II, is so overrated. Seriously, '80s Zod wore a ballet outfit, had no plan whatsoever, and had two allies: a narcissistic woman and a mute idiot. That's pretty much the worst army you could ask for. But Man of Steel's Zod is amazing. He is actually menacing, has an actual plan, an actual army, and is covered in beautiful armor. He is not doing what he's doing for personal gain. And that goatee... it just works.

2 Khan (Star Trek Into Darkness)

Smart, strong villain who gets his shine from the brilliant performance by Benedict. It's such a treat to watch him on screen in this amazing movie. My love for this movie is tremendous!

3 President Snow (Hunger Games: Catching Fire)

The second time around, Snow is more evil and more determined to kill Katniss.

4 The Motherf***** (Kick-Ass 2)

The raunchiest and funniest villain of the year, Kick-Ass 2 is a badass and super entertaining movie.

5 Kruger (Elysium)

Sharlto Copley gives a mesmerizing performance as the psychopathic sleeper agent Kruger. He is a visually cool and intriguing villain who possesses a variety of high-tech weaponry. A skilled swordsman, his favorite armaments are a katana and a force-field shield. Now that's completely badass. He's a ruthless mercenary with brutal methods. Elysium is an excellent sci-fi film featuring grimy battle tech, stylish action, great cinematography, and a terrific soundtrack. The pacing and story are superb. Everyone is great in it, but it is Copley's Kruger who steals the show.

6 Aldrich Killian (Iron Man 3)
7 Smaug (The Hobbit) Smaug is a fictional character and the primary antagonist in J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel The Hobbit. In Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, he was portrayed via motion capture by Benedict Cumberbatch.

If more people saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, then they would agree that Smaug is awesome. Benedict Cumberbatch conveys so much intensity with a voice that strikes fear in anyone. His design is massive, making him look all the more threatening. I can't wait for There and Back Again, where we can see what he's truly capable of.

8 Kurse (Thor: The Dark World)
9 Silver Samurai (The Wolverine)
10 Butch Cavendish (The Lone Ranger)

This maniac has an appetite for human flesh, which is why Red Harrington has an ivory leg with a shotgun inside.

The Contenders
11 Kajiu (Pacific Rim)

Incredible monster villains in this amazing movie! They look absolutely spectacular. They're enormous, aggressive, and put up great, tough fights against the Jaegers. Pacific Rim is the ultimate blockbuster!

12 Malekith (Thor: The Dark World)
13 Mickey Cohen (Gangster Squad)

Great performance by Sean Penn in this highly entertaining movie.

14 Owen Shaw (Fast & Furious 6)
15 Zombies (World War Z)

The zombies are terrific. Ferocious and aggressive, they look real and there are plenty of them. They're done pretty perfectly for the film. Great enemies that ensure an exciting and fun time at the movies. World War Z is amazing!

16 Faora (Man of Steel) Faora is the name of several female super-villains in DC Comics Superman titles. All of them have some connection to Superman's home planet of Krypton.
17 Edwin Epps (12 Years a Slave)
18 Mother Russia (Kick-Ass 2)
19 Oliver "O-Man" Chamberlain (The World's End)
20 Bruce Robertson (Filth)
21 Theodora (Oz the Great and Powerful)
22 Guy Shepherd (The World's End)
