Top Ten Music Genres That Deserve More Attention

The Top Ten
1 Progressive Rock Progressive rock is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States throughout the mid to late 1960s.

Holy S$! T I LOVE prog rock. With such FANTASTIC bands such as Pink Floyd, Rush ( one of my favorite bands ever! ) and many more, I can't really say much about it ( you have to listen yourselves, it's that good! ) Also, Dream Theater isn't prog rock, but in fact PROGRESSIVE METAL. So yea, they're not really the same thing.

2 Ambient

Most people haven't heard of this one actually.

3 Country

For those who know me well, you might be asking " Isn't Country your least favorite genre? ". True, but I'm talking about "Bro-Country". REAL country music, such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, should be played on the radio. Not that "bro-country" crap.

4 Krautrock
5 Progressive Metal

Don't complain that Prog Metal and Prog Rock are the same thing. Prog metal is a METAL sub genre, not a rock genre. Just saying.

6 New Wave

I love this genre but not too many people my age listen to New Wave.

7 Electronic

The truth is, not everyone sees the innovation and thought-provoking meanings that go into quite a lot of it.

Depends.Thereare many popular genres of EDM like House,Trance and Dubstep which are good but there is also stuff like Drum&Bass,Synthpop and Electronic Rock which I think need more attention.-LitSavage

8 Psychobilly

A unique blend of rockabilly and hardcore punk ( I think).

9 Italo Disco
10 Classical

Now, classical music is not listened to enough. Classical music is awesome. I know you like pop, but now after a lot, your engine might get high. For a change, listen to classical music, like Massanet's Meditation from thais or Dvorak 2nd movement from the new world symphony.

The Contenders
11 Sophisti-pop
12 Jazz Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, United States, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and developed from roots in blues and ragtime. Jazz is seen by many as "America's classical music".

Pretty underrated if you ask me.

13 Chillstep

A very talented and haunting genre, which nobody seems to appreciate.

14 Symphonic Metal
15 Chiptune
16 Trance
17 Drum n' Bass
18 Psychedelic Rock Psychedelic Rock is a style of rock music in the late 1960s where it is incorporated, influenced or inspired by psychedelic culture which revolves around the perception of hallucinogenic drugs. It is incorporated with improvisation, electronic sound effects and extended solos.
19 Reggaeton

No way, this does not deserve attention.

20 Industrial Rock

Sort of like rock music but with more electronic elements to it. It's very rare and doesn't really get that much appreciation. You should check it out. It's really cool. I recommend checking out bands like Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, or Rammstein.

21 Industrial Metal

Same as Industrial Rock. Just metal with electronic beats.

22 New Age
23 Folk Metal Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s.
24 Stoner Rock
25 Bubblegum Dance
