Top Ten Most Overhated Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog Video Games
Why is this game number one?! It is definitely not a bigger highlight in Mario's history( but it isn't bad either), but this game was still accepted by most Mario fans! I swear sonic deserves an entry at number 1 far more than Mario. I barely see any hate towards Mario games despite that Mario has also had problems, but I swear Sonic's fan base is far more unforgiving than Mario's fan base.
I have a love/hate relationship with this game. I have a list idea for this when I think about it more.
How the hell is this game overhated? Practically everyone seems to like it from what I've heard.
This game is not overrated. This game was good but I don't hear peolpe say it is amazing best game ever.
I really enjoyed this game. This game showcases Sonic at his fastest yet. No game following this has ever reached Sonic's speed in Unleashed and what's even cooler is when you actually experience that sense of speed for yourself. The werehog stages are not as awful as many people claim it to be in my opinion. While the stages are really long, it was always satisfying when I discovered a secret or beat up a ton of enemies. Along with that, it was a great change of pace from the daytime stages. As someone who has also played Generations, Colors, and Forces, I still always find this to be my favorite. That's just me though.
This is overhated because people don't like the idea of Sonic being a hedgehog-werewolf hybrid. I find this game mediocre. I don't want no mediocre. Don't want no mediocre.
It has great combat, puzzles, challenge, bosses, and great level design

Great game, only problems were slippery controls and the fact that there were multiple endings that were complicated to get.
They are the same people who hate Rocko's Modern Life and Regular Show for being more mature than it's neighbors.
There's a character named Nack The Weasel in Sonic series. When Nack had a gun, fans didn't went insane. But when Shadow held a gun, fans went crazy.
Sure, the story isn't good, the talking is laughable, but none of those matter! it's really a great game!
Um, what is this game doing here. I don't know anybody who hates this game! This is a great game no question, but it doesn't get much hate at all! For that reason, I do not think this game should even be on this list!
This game used to be a bestseller but now the community has left for mk8 deluxe, even with mkwii custom tracks most of the community has still left mkwii and made it an underrated game

It's a good game, but I hate it that you can't turn off motion controls.
Not bad in the slightest. Maybe not Sonic Generations but pretty good. Not a Mario Galaxy rip off, people who say that forget how much planetoid movement is actually in those games. SMG is mostly flat levels w/ occasional spheres you can walk on. SLW has more cylinders which offers different level design.
It's not a Galaxy rip-off. Galaxy took elements from Super Mario 128. This took elements from Sonic Xtreme. See the difference?
It has an acrobatic system which can help stop cheap death because Sonic can also grab edges.
How is this 12? This should be 1. It's one of my favorite Sonic Games and gets unfair hate.

Um, why is this game here? I know few people who don't like this game. This is a great game, but I don't think it gets enough hate to qualify for this list.
Amazing game
This was without a doubt one game underrated by critics like IGN or Metacritic, but when nearly every fan says this is the number one underrated game, it gives me the feeling that it deserves a lower spot ( no, I'm not saying it is bad by any means.)
I liked it. The only problem was the abysmal camera.

Why the hell do so many people bash on this game nowadays!?!? They loved it back when it first came out so why the hell would they call it junk today? Especially that idiot ProJared who pulled a bunch of reasons for hating the game out of his ass just to troll fans of the game such as myself.
Its seriously the same thing as sonic adventure 2 what's so bad about that? The improvements? The minor improvements? Yeah that's what I thought!
I like the battle one more.The multiplayer and other features different.It isn't the same as the original. All stages were good except last story and space levels.Sure the story was garbage though.

I don't understand how this game is hated more than secret rings. Sure the idea of Sonic wielding a Sword sounds odd, but at least sonic kept his speed unlike the werehog in Unleashed (not that the werehog was bad). In fact, I really liked slashing the crap out of every enemy at high speeds, and I LOVED playing as Shadow, Knuckles, and Blaze in story mode. And most importantly, the controls are EONS better than Secret Rings, along with improved graphics, an improved soundtrack, improved voice acting, and even included some stages that, SPOILERS, were inspired by sonic's days before wielding a sword (if you unlock them post game that is). And to those that say that the homing attack is useless, you actually have to use a homing attack on enemies in those stages because the sword actually does not work on enemies in those stages. Sonic and the Black Knight is actually pretty good, and deserves more love.
Why Does Everyone Hate This?
It has a lot of good in it like:
- 9 playable characters
- Really good graphics and cut-scenes
- A FANTASTIC soundtrack "His World is one of my favorite songs"
- A...Okay story, got me thinking, but a little confused. "But you know what? It's still beats Banjo Kazooie's story any-day! "
- Good level design "not the best."

- Gameplay is okay, it's like the other 3D games so I can't complain.

The complaints people have with this game are either making a mountain out of a molehill or just outright untrue. For the sake of a short comment, I'll only list one: Bestiality? HA! You clearly don't know what that word even MEANS! It means human/animal INTERCOURSE! You know, SEX. Not once in the ENTIRE game do Sonic and Elise have SEX.
It's like these morons don't know what research is, if they did they could look up "sonic 06 review" and understand why it's so hated and no, sonic 06 has 9 playable characters the most characters playable in a sonic game is in sonic heroes (12)
I would have actually loved it, but the bestiality ruined it. Why couldn't Mephiles kill Elise instead of Sonic? Then that bit (you know, THAT bit) wouldn't have to be there.

People only hate it for one piece of music that's only on the US version.
Thank god this is on the list already. If it wasn't I was going to add it. It's hated because of bad controls. And Tails doll is real but unlike The creepypasta he's nice and wants friends. Also don't ever play Sonic R from a website on the internet. It's terrible. If I were you I would find out how to download the PC version.
Tails Doll isn't really scary (minus that dumb Creepypasta reputation), but his eyes make him disappointingly ugly.

I never really understood WHY people hate this game! Yeah it's easy and is similar to New Super Mario Bros but that game is overrated. This game was really fun, and used the tanooki suit minus the suit but it works! And the bosses are fun and creative. And the final boss WASN'T easy as the one from the first new super Mario! Yeah Bowsers movements are slow but it feels SO cool!

I personally didn't hate sonic boom rise of lyric (mostly because I'm a sonic fanboy) all people care about now are glitches. Like a new Mario game comes out and people are like "duuuh. This game is glitchy that makes it bad." I'll admit that it would have been better if they kept sonic synergy and I wish it had more speed but over all I like this game
Don't know what they are talking about when they say it's glitchy. I didn't run into a single glitch that forced me to restart my Wii U, in fact, I barely ran into any. Sonic 06 on the other hand... 7. Words. Get off the wall Knuckles and Rouge!
This is why I hate Sonic's fans and critics. They hated this game for lame reasons. What they don't know is that Sega aimed this game for the fans that like Modern Sonic type games. Not Whiny Mania fans.
Sonic Genesis (GBA) should be on this List because how Overhated Sonic Genesis (GBA) is.
I think Super Mario games released in the late 20th Century such as Super Mario World 2 always deserved much better.

I don't know how this game aged worse than SA2 for most people! This game is way better than the sequel in terms of gameplay! And what's with the complaints about glitches? I did not run into a single glitch in the game! You haters in the Sonic Fanbase are making it sound like it is just as bad as Heroes, 06, and Rise of Lyric in the glitch department! But I'm gonna tell you something: it's not!
Besides, the only thing SA2 did improve on that I could tell was the presentation on animations! The voice acting was better, but not by much! Sonic's gameplay was slightly nerfed due to levels too linear; shooting stages were paced EONS slower than any werehog stage and control like A** when turning, making for much less fun than SA1 gamma stages (especially if you try A-ranking SA2 mech stages); and god they seriously Fd up the hunting stages!
