Top Ten Most Overrated Female Singers on TheTopTens

I was going to do it as all overrated singers, but who am I kidding? Female singers are my specialty! Many of these are artists that I either like or love, but not all.
I'm probably going to wish I put a few artists on here that I left off eventually.

**REMINDER: THIS LIST WAS CREATED SPECIFICALLY IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS WEBSITE, NOT IN GENERAL!!!**
The Top Ten
1 Beyoncé Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, is an American singer and actress, who started out in the popular pop/r&b girl group Destiny's Child. They had multiple top 5 hits such as "No, No, No", "Say My Name", "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Survivor", "Independent Women", "Bootylicious", and "Jumpin', Jumpin" from ...read more.

I see one of her live performance. No lip-sync, singing live with dancing for hours. Also, Love On Top have so many key changes. Her music is overrated but not her voice.

Beyonce is a good singer and has put some good songs out in the past, but she is definitely the most overrated artist of the 2010s. Every time she releases an album it receives universal acclaim from critics and wins a bunch of awards, but honestly it's not good music. Lemonade for instance, had a few good songs but nothing comparable to Halo, Single Ladies, Crazy in Love, etc... All critics truly care about these days is how much bass or special effects there are so their stoned minds can justify the modern music industry's lack of quality music.

I feel this is almost affirmative action, everybody afraid to say the tramp is not a good vocalist. I don't care how many black women I piss off, she is not a good singer, poor breathe control and an empty voice. Jennifer Hudson was not perfect, but she gave me goosebumps with I am telling you, Beyonce makes me grind my teeth. She is just a commercial product, with no depth, real singing talent or uniqueness. She is easily replaceable.

I'm quite tired of seeing people kiss her ass all time too. It goes beyond this website, too. It seems like people just blindly kiss King B's delightful derrière without putting much thought into anything/anyone else or reason for liking her so much aside from things like "she's the best singer ever!" That's the BS that annoys me. And I'm sorry, but Beyoncé STANS are some of the most insufferable people ever. I do my share of Stanning over certain singers like Xtina, but I'm willing to accept the opinion of someone who doesn't like her.

Again, no hate on Beyoncé. She's a great singer but she's definitely overrated by a lot of people.

2 Jackie Evancho Jacqueline Marie "Jackie" Evancho is an American classical crossover singer who gained wide recognition at an early age. Since 2009, she has issued an EP and eight albums, including a platinum and gold album, and three Billboard 200 top 10 debuts. Evancho's latest album 'The Debut', was her eighth consecutive release to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Classical Albums chart... read more

I have nothing against Jackie personally, I don't know her nor am I ever likely to meet her. She does have an incredible voice. The reason she is overrated isn't so much that there are so many lists about her than what is said on those lists. She's sweet, she's a normal teenager, she has a kind heart, like they all know her personally. That's not fandom, that is obsession unless you all do know her personally. And frankly, her personality has nothing to do with her singing ability.

Very overrated because in reality she's boring and annoying to hear.

I don't thnk that Jackie Evancho is overrated, she is very sweet.

3 Britney Spears Britney Jean Spears, born on December 2, 1981, is an American former singer and actress. She was born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. As a child, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows, such as "The Mickey Mouse Club," before signing with Jive Records in 1997... read more
4 Selena Gomez Selena Marie Gomez is an American actress and singer. She is best known for songs like "Come & Get It", "Good For You", "Same Old Love", and "It Ain't Me". Selena Gomez's voice is mezzo-soprano but she usually sings in alto. She is best known for her role as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place.

Sorry if I sound rude but seriously I am so sick of her.She can't sing, her live performances(more like whisper or lipaync) are sucks. But if she come up with new single all reporter are like "only Selena & Selena" Why man? Is everyone died except her? Chester died but reporter busy talking about her new relation life with The Weekend. If she cry during performances she crying for justin,if Justin mad or sad about something it's must be about Selena,is her new single about her ex blah blah blah.Stop! I'm tired.

A lot like Beyoncé, she is not really a singer, just an entertainer. At least Beyonce can dance.

5 Taylor Swift Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is best known for writing personal songs and has won 13 Grammy Awards... read more

She is the world's second-best selling artist of the 2010's, only behind Adele, do you think she really cares if she is considered overrated on some obscure list made by some obscure poster.

6 Katy Perry Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, professionally known by her stage name Katy Perry, was born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. She is a singer, songwriter, actress and an ambassador on one of the most popular companies of now, UNICEF.

She is also is one of the best-selling artists of all time. She won 4 Guinness World Records, 5 MTV Awards, 5 American Music Awards, 16'ASCAP Pop Music Awards, 5 Billboard Music Awards, 14 People's Choice, 1 Juno Award, 2 Myx Music Awards, 3 NRJ Awards, 6 Teen Choice and a Brit Award. ...read more.

With Taylor comes her rival. Neither Taylor nor Katy Perry are stellar vocalists yet I see both rank highly in many singer/voice related lists. I imagine this is because of young tweenagers who don't know any better or haven't ventured far beyond the realm of Top 40 artists. I'll be honest, in 2008 I was totally obsessed with her. "I Kissed a Girl" was my jam and I'd light up every time it came on the radio. I was once very into Katy Perry, I still have her first two albums. But she's just another pop star with an average voice and sometimes good music. There are many far better singers in the world than Katy Perry.

7 Adele Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (born 5 May 1988) is an English singer and songwriter. Graduating from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2006, Adele was given a recording contract by XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on Myspace the same year. She is best known with her international hit singles like Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, Hello, Easy On Me and the success of her second, third and fourth studio album which is 21, 25 and 30.

I LOVE ADELE! DO NOT GET ME WRONG ABOUT THAT! But she ranks very highly in many lists when she is not necessarily deserving of such a high position. For instance on Best Songs of 2015, "Hello" (as of December, 2016) is #1. It is a great song, don't get me wrong but there are other better songs from that year. And she's within the top ten on Best Female Singers of All Time. She's probably top 20 worthy but I'm not sure she's top 10 material. This is a tough one; unlike the first 6, Adele is a singer I actually LOVE.

Her voice is great but not unique like most people say.

8 Madonna Madonna Louise Ciccone, known professionally as Madonna, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. She influenced a lot of singers such as: Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears. She is known as Queen of Pop and at modern pop culture specifically in 2012 "Madge" or MDNA. She has 14 studio albums (Madonna, Like a Virgin, True Blue, Like a Prayer, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor, Hard Candy, MDNA, Rebel Heart, and Madame X), 3 soundtrack albums (Who's That Girl, I'm Breathless, and Evita), 4 compilation albums (The Immaculate Collection, Something to Remember, GHV2, and Celebration), ...read more.

Y'all are probably thinking: "Whaaat! He loves Madonna! But he put her on this list? "
Let me explain. It's true that I love Madonna and I always will. In all honesty, I think she's a bit underrated as a vocalist by most people. But I do think she's ranked a bit higher than she should be on the "best singers" type lists. Like Britney, she has great music and unlike Britney, she can take credit for the vast majority of it. But again, I think people sometimes fail to separate good music or good performance from actual vocal ability. She is an underrated vocalist, she's not a spectacular one. Regardless, I love her!

9 Carrie Underwood Carrie Marie Underwood is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to fame as the winner of the fourth season of American Idol, in 2005. Her debut album, Some Hearts, was released in 2005.

So is every modern singer.

Manufactured.

10 Rihanna Robyn Rihanna Fenty is a Barbadian-American pop singer. Born in Saint Michael and raised in Bridgetown, she first entered the music industry by recording demo tapes under the direction of record producer Evan Rogers in 2003. She ultimately signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for its then-president, hip-hop producer and rapper Jay Z.

Rihanna is 50/50. She can be good but sometimes she's very shout-y almost. She has a very unique and lovely tone but doesn't always use it to her best advantage. Again, I think this is a generational thing. There's a lot of young people on here who don't know a wide variety of singers. No hate on RiRi, I like some of her songs and sometimes I genuinely love her voice. But is she overrated on TheTopTens? Absolutely.

The Contenders
11 Avril Lavigne Avril Ramona Lavigne is a Canadian–French singer-songwriter and actress. By the age of 15, she had appeared on stage with Shania Twain; by 16, she had signed a two-album recording contract with Arista Records worth more than $2 million.

Avril is a good singer. I'm not particularly into her music but she does have a unique-ish voice that can sometimes surprise you but she's not top 20 material, not even top 50 and she tends to rank highly on the lists she's featured on.

12 Jennifer Lopez Jennifer Lynn Lopez, also known as J. Lo, is an American singer, actress, dancer, fashion designer, author and producer.
13 Demi Lovato Demetria Devonne "Demi" Lovato is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Despite her controversial songs, Brent Staples from "The New York Times" claimed her to be 'the most influential female rapper of all time', presumably distinctive for her fast flow and her use of alter egos with Cockney accent. She has endorsed Adidas, MAC Cosmetics and Pepsi. Minaj has received ten Grammy-nominations throughout her career, and has won multiple awards including the Billboard's Women in Music 2011 Rising Star award.
16 Maddie Ziegler Madison Nicole Ziegler is an American dancer, actress, author and model. She was initially known for appearing in Lifetime's reality show Dance Moms from 2011 until 2016.

Only 15 years old, and already has a book published about her life story.
